  1. I have had CIS for about 15 years +. I pay a little over $4/day to insure my stuff. I have had one claim in that time for $1000. They paid it in full in six weeks. Their coverage on books being shipped to and from you is excellent piece of mind. I also have coverage when traveling to and from shows.
  2. I've always wondered if the hero is holding the pistol/girl or are they in the yellow plane? The perspective Leo chose is intriguing as well - the red plane is taking a nose dive, the yellow plane looks to be taking an upward altitude, and that parachute might be stuck given the look on their faces. Oh yah, it's the 2nd Superman appearance.....Congrats & nice avatar Jerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry....
  3. 3.0 Nice, faint "3 10" date stamp at the top FC.
  4. BC brings it down to a 3.0 overall IMO. Nice colors.
  5. Front cover eye appeal alone will get it to 1.5 despite the other issues. Great early Goodman book.
  6. 1.0 or 1.5 for sure..depends on how hard they hammer it. Nice cover image still.
  7. What!? No Timelys?? Nice books as always Bunky B.
  8. Congrats Clark . I like it better when you are leaning back in that big 'ole leather chair holding your gold
  9. true. That copy has some of the the nicest reds on a low grade in hand.
  10. Well, at least those kids appeared to have some fun and enjoyment from the comics....even if it was only a brief escape from reality.
  11. No, because by the time Bob saw the books, Nick and Mike had already cherry picked all the Timelys in that first batch on the pallet. The rolled up/rubber banded Cap 1 would not have made it to Bob based on what I have heard and read.
  12. It's old school, hard copy in my hands . You probably can find it online somewhere....
  13. For reference, there is an in depth letter titled "Setting the record straight" (Marketplace Mail) by Bob Beerbohm in the 42nd issue of CBM (December 1996) which details the Reilly collection from his perspective.
  14. Nice Harold! Are you still using that for FMV in today's market?
  15. Agreed. The story is what sells me on a piece. Larsons - great story, the drugstore sets the books aside for a young kid who carefully reads them and they get stored in a barn. Thanks to Jon Berk, we know who Lamont is and have been able to reconnect him to his past. Okajimas are a great story too. There's still a lot of puzzles in the Reilly story.
  16. Good points Jeff. A cluttered and undocumented history made for many Reilly books to have been lost to time. I believe you posted a suggested yearbook picture of Tom long ago in a past thread...?
  17. Yes, I believe that is true. Although, I believe Dr.A and his wife just happened to run into Nick and Marcus first, so they were lucky to snatch up the Timelys that were on the pallet (Cap 1 rolled up in a big rubber band ).
  18. Old time Timely collectors. Nick passed away. Mike is still around.
  19. I believe Dr. A and his wife were Tom's uncle and aunt that were local. The collection was split amongst three sets of relatives. Dr. A, some folks from New Jersey (I think), and another set. That is why the Marvel Mysterys were supposedly absent from the initial pallet that Nick and Mike first saw as the MMs were probably not part of the batch that Dr. A inherited (or possibly, Dr. A had the MMs but he and his wife only brought a portion of the collection that day). All the Caps, Subbys, and Torchs were present that Easter Sunday.
  20. I had heard Nick and Mike paid roughly $1,000 for 60 Timelys on that day...that comes out to $16.66 per book or $98.48/book in today's money. Anybody have a 1973 OSPG?
