  1. I caught this on HBO a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised. I honestly had low expectations as it basically seemed to me nothing more than what the poster showed, Robots v Godzillas. I thought the set design and the special effects were were done in that I believed that these robot things actually existed and walked amongst the cities.

A sequel would be fun. I am not looking for Oscar material here, just for some fun.

    +1

I had fun watching this. My expectations were exactly what this movie was...a modern day Godzilla-esque flick. Killer CG instead of a guy in a suit mashing up a miniature city playset. Would love to see a sequel...I hope they take it up a notch.

Yeah, in a sequel we need not suffer through a story. Just jump into the suits and give me two solid hours of fighting monsters. :cloud9:

  2. I think it is time to revive this thread. Once again, here is something new.

Crusade of Comics: Spawn #1 CGC 9.8

    - This mini-comic was released inside two promotional VHS tapes at the August 1992 San Diego Comic Convention. VHS tapes are "Todd McFarlane's Comic Book 'Facts & Illusions'" and "Todd McFarlane's Lotus".

That is cool. Welcome to the club.

Does this comic predate issue 1 of Spawn?

"Todd McFarlane's Comic Book 'Facts & Illusions'" predates Spawn 1.

I bought my copy a few weeks before Spawn 1 came out.

  3. Congrats!

I see ads for estate sales, and I think, I'm totally going to that, and then I never do.

I really need to start checking these things out.

The number of sales that are a complete waste of time far outweigh the sales with comics like these.

Unless you're in the market for bread makers and overpriced "antiques." If so, you'll be happy with what you find at estate sales.

  4. I had a whole run of the Inhumans years ago but gave them away because they reeked of moth balls. This was before I had read things on these boards on how to get scents out.

    :frustrated:

A whole lot, don't you mean "cents" hahahaha, eh

But really, dryer sheets or what?

I can't remember in what thread this came up but guys were talking in length about how to remove odors from books. Something about kitty litter, charcoal, and plastic tubs with tents some of some sort. I've still never done it but the techniques made sense.

Sealable container large enough to hold the book.

Pour in one large box of Minute Rice.

Pour in one box of Arm & Hammer baking soda.

    Paper towel on top.

Open the book and lay it on top of the paper towel with the cover up.

    Leave sealed for three months.

    Mothballs gone.

  5. I honestly can't think of a single artist out there other than Liefeld where people will argue tooth and nail that he's horrible and terrible, often without having seen or read his work, or by simply pointing to the same tired examples again and again.

This is a straw man argument. No one who has commented here has done what you claimed.

    Calendar still stuck huh? Bummer.

But please, enlighten me on your brilliance - name another artist people are so quick to rail against?

    Ramos

  6. i 100% believe that this is what happened though, i have yet to see anybody show any examples of his "quality" work

So what determines "quality" work? Your opinion? Perfect accuracy to human anatomy? I flip through much of his work in X-Force #1 and think it's absolutely amazing. It's bold inking, it's enjoyable storytelling, it's fun action, great pacing...but no matter how clearly I point out the good or quality things, people will invariably find things to nitpick no matter what.

Here's my favorite page of the book.

    xf1-p6-dark.jpg

It's a great action page, great focus on the main characters, the inking is great, it moves the story forward. But plenty of people here will likely rip it apart for the sake of ripping it apart.

Great inking? Every single line on this page is the same thickness. lol

    Plus there's no black spotting.

Awful. I'm just a fan artist but I know how to spot blacks.

I'm confused, as I don't know any of these characters, but is Cable supposed to be the girth-iest human being on the planet?

You know what they say about a girthy man.

    More room for pouches.

  8. Somehow I missed this post, but I have already made 3 purchases, 2 that have gotten delivered flawlessly, so I'm a disabled Veteran how enjoys comics for reading and art value, needless to say these boards are some of the most amazing guys ever, thanks for the warm welcome to the board you guys rock and I hope to be helpful and make my slab collections grow.

Thank you for your service, Felix, and welcome to the boards.

  9. I've got life issues. Can I nominate myself for the PL?

You can actually as it has happened before.

On that note, I would like to nominate Eric's (Hammerhead) removal from the PL.

I've ask him to weigh in on the subject since he self nominated, but as the offended party I'm comfortable in him coming off the list as he has faithfully been fulfilling his commitment to repay for a consistent stretch now and I would like him to be able to sell items to further the cause if he wishes.

    Thanks Dave,

Yup, without going into a ton of details I lost my job shortly after me and Dave had a transaction. I was really down and out for awhile and just this year I started making weekly payments....well I am still out of work but my wife is helping me clear this debt. :sorry:

Prior to this I have had several successful transactions...sales and purchases and when funds/time allows I would like to be able to use the marketplace forums again.

Thanks Dave for being so generous and PATIENT with me, I will continue our planned payment schedule and get you payed off in no time.

Thanks again for getting me removed from the list and I fully understand if we come to a bump in the road that I can be put right back on.

    Eric (HAMMERHEAD)

Good job, Eric. I hope your situation starts to get better soon. :wishluck:
