DiceX got a reaction from Beige in Whatever happened to... (Boardies from yesteryear)
I'm still living, my brother! I hope you are doing well. I rarely get out of my own back yard these days.
I did just finish writing and drawing my first comic book, due to ship out in early January. It will be a ten issue story that I hope to pitch to Netflix once it is finished.
You can see the info about the comic HERE!
Best wishes to you all! I miss your smiling...avatars. Hopefully one day we can all catch up soon over a beer or...beverage of your choice.

I used to have one of these on my closet door when I was a kid.

You order now. The books will be printed mid/late December. Order fulfillment will happen in early January.
There is a PDF option as an add-on. I've not decided if I'm going to wait until books ship to send those out or not. That's where I'm leaning at this time.

Is there a way to order copies now? Or only in January?

That was back before everyone learned that nobody cares what they have to say.

DiceX got a reaction from The Lions Den in How many "small defects" can a 9.8 have?
A 9.8 can have a spine tick but it has to be one that you can't see unless you reflect light off the surface at the right angle AND it can't break color.
If it breaks color, 99.9% of the time it won't get 9.8.
If the book is flawless and has extremely tiny bindery tears at the top and/or bottom of the spine, it can still squeak out a 9.8.
A 9.8 is nearly flawless. It can have a flaw or two but they have to be tiny, and by tiny I mean TINY.
Learning how to pick out 9.8's with regularity take a lot of painful submissions.

DiceX got a reaction from whetteon in Where are the Mad Magazine collectors?
My regular issue run goes from #44 to present and I'm only missing 3 books in the middle. The run is otherwise complete in that I have every alternate or variant copy of every issue.
My Super Specials are complete from 1 through 57 and I'm only missing a handful through present.
I also have a lot of foreign issues including the first British issue and first Quebec issue. I also have a very large run of the Australian issues.
Additionally I have almost full runs of all the offshot titles, including More Trash, Follies, Wost From, Collector Classics, Gross Outs, XL, etc, etc, etc. Also a lot of the big books.
I'd like to end up with full runs of everything, and I have a pretty good jump on it. (thumbs u

DiceX got a reaction from Calamerica in CAL'S Column Early September 2011 Edition - Comics General
Perhaps the mods should make a sub-forum in Comics General that is only accessible by Cal, so he can discuss things with himself privately.

DiceX got a reaction from BOBSCOMICS in Q&A Comic Production Flaws
Marvel Chipping has been blamed on dull blades when the book was trimmed.
I'm skeptical of this because a dull blade would possibly only give a jagged edge, sort of like what you see as a common problem on Amazing Spider-Man #300.
I'd think a more likely possiblity would be poor paper quality that gets flaky on the edges as time and oxygen break down the fibers.
The edges of this particular paper would be more likely to flake.
I could be completely wrong, but I think it's a possiblity.
Borock may have a better soloution this defect because of his experience with looking at so many examples of it.
While I have no way of proving my idea...I'd need to see some solid proof before I believe the dull blade theory.
I have a hard time believing that the bindery blade was dull for 15-20 years.
If it was possible to trace the paper down to the mill, I'd bet the paper on all these chipped books came from the same source.
This is a hard one to answer because it is something that takes time to become evident, and can't be seen immediately.
Who knows...In 20 years when we have Marvel Chipping on all the ASM 300's and Hulk 340's, we may have the question answered.
