  1. :bump:

I don't recall if I've ever shown this comparison on the boards.

The art is Kinstler and Avon towards the end of the company, circa 1954 / 1955 started to recycle art and stories BUT this being POST Code, some minor adjustments had to be made ... such as the shirt of this heroine: the shirt is mysteriously mended and the neckline on the shirt is so much more modest in the post code version. Another discussion could focus on the coloring choices on the post code version

 Kit looks like he's about to cry in the post-code. Plus, there's no arrow in the old man's heart.
  2. Here are a few more warm-ups for The Thing.

This is a great cover, with a really dynamic splash page. A Two-Headed Thing!

Oh, this is one of the lesser White Mountian copies (damn you Marvel Chipping!).

    Another orange monster...

    Wow! Awesome Splash page!
  3. Great books Scrooge! Definitely a lot of value in low-grade Atlas. Black Knight is my favorite Atlas series with some of the best art I have ever seen to date. (Yellow Claw is in 2nd BTW). I'm diggin those Mad rip-offs too.

Thanks! I would like to add some Yellow Claws to my collection but I doubt I could find them for $16 (which IIRC is what I paid for the Black Knight :D I was happy with the price) The Jungle books from Atlas are also great btw. Not to everyone's tastes but pleasant art always.

Have you read Jungle Tales #2? The Romita art in that is excellent.
  4. Thanks, not easy to come by... either. Destroyer covers ROCK! Haven't seen this character in the modern era for a while...... any news anyone?
We should talk to Stan. He seems to want to make some cash. Not much for today on his original appeal (Fighting Nazis in Nazi controlled areas) but maybe a modern ret-con in the Middle East.

PS LMK if you find a Mystic #4 not suited to your collecting tastes.

  5. one tough bugger, had to settle on this copy:

    9 MORE TO GO!

trust me...as a run builder, I have settled many times, but eventually, I have always found an upgrade (sometimes sooner than later, sometimes the other way around)

    keep the faith!

Those numbers. Is that a pedigree of some sort? I recall that on other books.
