Just in from CGC. I was pretty happy with this...
-
I think this copy is just "great"
gator
This is actually an underrated comic (#3 gets all the hype). I don't remember what it was off the top of my head, but I remember being pretty impressed by the contents. Is there some funny animal Nazi story in there?
-
kudos to Wierd Paper for a really nice Little Lulu 29 and Four Color 142. Awesome packaging and spot on grading.
Bob
Thanks, Bob. Great doin' business with ya.
-
Blazing 1, 2 & 3 are listed as Gerber 6's. 4 is a 7. 5 (which I've never seen) is an 8.
Nice buy!
#5 will be on its way to Bob shortly.

The Turtle is cool in a weird, second-banana Catman sorta way!
The Turtle is way, way down the banana chain from Catman. He's maybe a fifth-banana superhero. Still cool, though. His stories are actually set in China. How many GA superheroes operated out of China?
-
Kudos to Weirdpaper for a set of Blazing Comics #1-4.
The Green Turtle lives!
Thanks Bob. I like to think there's a little Green Turtle in all of us.
... I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds sincere.

This is still one of my favorite Fox covers.
Hey! I recognize that book. Did you slab the Fantastic 5? I still have the Science 2 from that collection.
-
Wow, nice comic book Ciorac. Being as this is my first time to post on these boards I don't know much. But I can sure tell that YOU have a nice collection! Must be one of the best around. Maybe you can give me a few pointers.
Mightn't you be Richard Evans?
Welcome.
richard evans? is that the guy that sets up at chicago and uses all his friends as free labor while he trawls the floor for bargains? will these boards take on just ANY riff-raff?
That's right Parker. After you move those boxes go and get me a coke!
Hi Richard. Welcome to the boards.

Well, after a rather disappointing week in comics starting off with two ebay purchases that were overgraded, I received this beauty yesterday. The colors are so vibrant on this book it has to be seen to be believed. I bought this from Metropolis shortly after they listed the run missing the #3, which I want the most, but this is a close second.
Ken
Does that have super-heavy gloss? That must rock!
Adam, didn't you have a Church Slam Bang back in the day? #2 or #7? I remember a red cover.
-
Totally in agreement.
Fantastic cover
Speaking of fantastic covers....this "pair of blue jeans" arrived today..
Wow!
That's not the key I thought you were working on. Whad'ya do, sell a kidney?
-
Very happy right now, although I disagree with the grade. I've been wondering if I should crack the slab on this, just to save the grade
That's a Gerber 8.
-
We all decided it would be cool to put some of our Key issues into a group shot, so here it is. Believe it or not, we couldn't get them all onto the bed. So plenty got left out!
Golden Dreams!!
I'll take whatever falls out of bed!
Sounds like a great time with the geeks! Any pics of the party?
Do the fortresses protect them better than the slabs when you roll around naked on them?
No pictures necessary.

What kind of world do we live in that these smokin' Blondies would be relegated to the short bus? These can ride on my long bus any day.
If I had a long bus. They can ride in my truck.

Ducks (mostly Barks) from the recently-acquired OO collection.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adam!! You HAVE to sell this to me! Or you have to buy all of mine! The must be together!
I knew he had a Church copy of one of the ones I didn't have. I was thinking it was the 5.
-
Take good care of them... sniff.... sniff... sigh...

Accidently posted these in the Timely thread!
Bill, I'd really like to collect those early Heroics but they are notorious for being brown/brittle on the inside. I know you're a "paper" guy like me, so how do the insides measure up on these copies?
STEVE
The Mile High #11 is blinding white. The others are not white, but far from brown or brittle. Kind of a light tan, some are cream colored.
As I recall, the 4 and the 6 had pretty nice paper. In general, I've never noticed a paper quality issue on the Heroics. Did other Famous Funnies titles have paper issues?
-
A package came in the mail today, that was....well...HEROIC!! (Thanks to Weird Paper)
The last copy is the Mile High! And when you hold this book in your hands, you know what all the fuss is about. This book is smoking!
Glad it got to you safe and sound. Do I sense a WTB for issues 1,5,8,9,10 to complete run? (I don't have them--you've got all mine)
-
Just arrived today. One of my favorite covers of the run.
Definitely one of the best Frazetta covers. The original to that exists somewhere. I remember it being on Heritage or Sotheby's a few years back--75k+

Allow me to jump on the "Kudos to Roger/Weird Paper Bandwagon!"
This is my first real foray into the world of GA superheroes. I've mainly been sticking to GGA, Sci-Fi and ERB stuff since I started collecting GA a couple of years ago, but I've decided 2007 is going to be a Batman year for me. Thanks to Roger I'm off to a good start!
Wow, I got a bandwagon. Do I need liability insurance for that? Glad to see those Batmans going to a good home. I've had a blast reading the comics from that collection.

Just in from Weird Paper, kudos.
Ditto...gotta give a shout out to Roger for some new additions to the Cole collection!!
Thanks, Mike. Those Suspenses are great books with really unusual content. It was fun to (briefly) have them.
-
Those are great Doc! Roger's batch is sensational, and he is a top flight guy.
Aww shucks...
... feelin' the love. Right back atcha, Bill.

I've got one. 8.5-9.0-ish. Only high grade one I've ever seen in person.
