  1. I try to get what I want and not take what I don't need -or- whatever's the best deal
  2. Dang they look like they're nice shapes in the bag! Is there any background story you can share?
  3. this cover is similar to a panel in TDKR where Superman is being struck by lightning
  4. From a garage sale held at a movie production studio
  5. Saturday’s events: Struck out at 1st yard sale which was a waste- an antique dealer’s pile of leftover mixed fodder including a Dazzler 1. After that at a nearby show I found a booth poorly being given attention. I was pleasantly delighted to find these silver age all in the same $1 shortbox While at the show I received the following text from the same friend in last week’s post, “epic modern score”. That could only mean one thing so I head over to that sale. Turns out it was another OO lifetime collector who decided to let his books go for a $1. Among his finds were Cap 2005 1-25 (6 var), Wolverine Origins 1-10 (10 var), Ultimate FF 21-23, JSA Classified 1-2 Hughes, Emma Frost 1-18, Wolverine 55 EC. These are the leftovers my dealer friend left behind
  6. Got these for $1 at a local show. No one was paying attention to this older man’s booth. I was pleasantly delighted
  7. Picked these up on Saturday from a local show and garage sale cheaply
  8. Picked these up at a low attended comic show for $1 each all in the same shortbox Got these at a studio sale for $1 each from original owner. I wasn’t even the first to go through his longboxes
  9. Picked these up in the wild on Saturday. A few aren’t even locatable on eBay Terapeak
  10. Thief 1981 is a good Mann Cann imperfect movie but the ending is awesome.. even Miami Vice is BA
  11. Whenever I see a notification that cabinboy posts in this thread I know it will be overwhelmingly good
  12. The ad is locally in a specific area or region but yard sales are held regularly. Scoring big is not a regular occasion. There's risk involved and having to go and being okay with striking out is involved. It's a numbers game. I'd probably say 20% of the time it's a big score. Where I live is ideal for yard sales based on the ideal weather, endless moving out sales (because it's too expensive), and the accessibility to collectibles is easy so everyone has them. It's also in the culture
  13. I'm actually in the process of that right now with a potential big high grade OO collection. The onus is on them to price their stuff but the buyer in most cases should know what they're inheriting more since the first party is essentially ridding their junk
  14. My dealer friend said he was "an older guy, and it was just time to let his collection go" Idk about a making a few grand but I'm sure he spent a few hundred
