  1. The auctions are doing well for the museum, thanks to everyone who has bid or is waiting for that piece they are interested in to come to auction. Three great new pieces are up. Lots of bidding action near the ends of these, which I suppose is expected. Don't miss out on having a piece in the grand opening show, and in the show catalog. We're getting a lot of requests as to when a few of these will be auctioned. Keep watching here, or email us through CAF and we'll try to give you a heads up once they go live. 5. Hi Everyone I’m a board member for the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, and I wanted to tell everyone about our first original art fundraising auction, Mike Mignola’s Hellboy: Tribute Auction and Show. Proceeds from the auction will support the Cartoon Art Museum’s operations and public programming as the board and staff prepare for CAM's grand reopening at 781 Beach Street in San Francisco later this summer. It’s a great space and the new museum is going to be better than ever, and I want thank all of you who have already supported us throughout our capital campaign. The online auction will launch on May 15 on eBay, under the user account “cartoonartmuseum” and will continue with new pieces added bi-weekly throughout the summer. The Museum will publish a full color catalog collecting all of the artwork created for the auction, and an exhibition featuring all of the artwork alongside a selection of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy artwork is tentatively planned for display at the Cartoon Art Museum in fall 2017. We’re asking all winners to allow us to hang onto the art until the show is finished, then each piece will be shipped. We want to thank Mike Mignola for graciously allowing us to use his property for the auction, and a special thanks to Felix Lu of Felix Comic Art and his artists for their generous contributions, along with Glen Gold and Allen Spiegel for making a few calls here and there on our behalf, as well as every single artist who contributed artwork for the cause. In no particular order, we’ll have art from James Harren, Nick Dragotta, Harry Bliss, Patrick McDonnell, Cliff Chiang, Daniel Warren Johnson, Garry Brown, Ian Bertram, Kent Williams, Chris Mooneyham, Riley Rossmo, Jeffrey Brown, Stephen Green Sam Kieth, and Geoff Shaw. And we have commitments from many more that I don’t feel comfortable naming until I have the pieces in hand. All of the art we have to date can be seen on the Comic Art Museums CAF page, and we'll keep adding new pieces as we receive them. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=120876 It’s for a good cause, and your contribution will go along way to making the museum great. Thank you in advance for any support you can give us. John Butler
  6. First, its been months since I've checked in here, and thanks for all the nice comments on my interview by Felix. I just don't find a lot of time to go through the boards like I probably should. Now to this one: Andy and Felix, this is a really substantive interview. Of course I knew a lot about Andy's tiered system, but there are plenty of other gems here. "Equal pain"-- in which winning a piece and losing it elicit the same exact feeling. Damn that's good. I've experienced equal pain frequently. I like this one as much as Jeff's "Monopoly money." Gotta remember 'em both. On to Andy's self-deprecating jab at being wrong. Here's the thing. At some point Andy is going to be right. The only question is, "when?" Great interview... and Andy, you're a lot smarter than I am. But we knew this. John
  7. Full disclosure: By "Monster collection" Felix means I have a collection with a lot of monsters in it. Dave has a monster collection.
  8. Felix, both of the interviews so far have been great. I think you're crushing it, making Felix Comic Art much bigger than just a place to buy art-- both have been really informative and fun. Made me wish a bit for the old days, and of course by that I mean 1996. John
  9. I'm so busy I barely get a chance to go through the boards unless someone sends me a link-- which brought me here. This thread is a blast. Roger, I don't know you from Adam (get it?) but I will say that your writing made me laugh more than once, and the pictures... wow. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
