I ask myself who cared $500+ dollars much about Ahsoka a year(s) ago? Usually a comic at that price slowly moves up in price over the years.. but that happened within a year.. nutz

Its fomo man. Or keeping up with the Jones's. Nobody cared about jackpot until rumor. Nobody cared about starlord or rocket. Some people cared about thanos and deadpool but not $1,000 worth of caring. I love star wars and Ahsoka. I love Godzilla and Indiana Jones as well. But can care less about their comic book. Some tv or movie characters 1st Appearance in a comic is nothing to me. Ahsoka has been everywhere though, but it takes the live action. Guess miles has more room to grow maybe. It's great how someone all the sudden wants something once it is announced for tv or movie. Made a lot of $ from it. Been happening since 90s at least but really got crazy with iron man movie. Nothing us too stupid to spec on. Remember the last jedi comic haha.

Without them, those scores will soon dry up and then where will you be?

I will be just fine. I mainly get entire collections. I do enjoy the hunt of digging through some long boxes. I am a fan of small businesses and have fond memories of comic shops. Wish I could time travel back to the days of guides and catalogs. I am into old comics. New toys and shirts, gn tpb don't interest me. I think $4 is too much for a comic. In a year it will be $1. Then marvel and dc ruin them for me anyways, something is good and I enjoy it and they switch writers and artists. Or $2.99 draw the line. Cross overs.

I can see a lot of all comic shops closing in near future. People have said it, they know shops doing good but because they are selling online. At some point it won't make sense for them to have a brick and mortar. It's nice to have more opportunities to buy collections and have a place to sell things and not have to pack and ship them. But not having to deal with payroll, taxes, rent, insurance is also nice.

I'm not 100% sure I completely understand your post(s) but I think you are saying hot books or keys are selling great and the rest are cold unless blown out via auction.  I 100% agree with this.

Pretty much it. Just saying if you don't think things are selling well you need to take a look in the mirror. What are you selling and for how much. I watch as many auctions as I can and see things sell and for $ I don't understand. Why did somebody pay that much for that. Hot spec books always sell fast. Silver bronze keys gone the same day. Can't say it's a buyers market when buyers are paying 40 50 bucks for jackpot and yellow hulk. Stargirl $100. Ahsoka who knows how much now. Some black plague. Yeah my sales suck but I haven't been trying to sell anything that the masses want. Havnt been listing anything. Anything I listed sold fast and for good money. I simply sold everything that was good.

I am not much of a ebay seller anymore. But in the past if I listed 10 things every day at least sales always picked up. Running some auctions always drove traffic to my items.

  4. 2.0 Cgc might give you a 2.5 I never pay much attention to a low grade detached. They give qualified to books that look a lot better than they grade. You could ask if they will give you a qualified grade but would be better off on this book with regular label as far as selling. Might be better off raw. Someone will put a cover on it or buy as reader copy.

  5. Good stuff. I hope comic shops stick around. I like them. Although I don't provide them much support. No desire to pay full price on anything no matter how good the service is. I just want to dig through some boxes and pick up everything you have vastly underpriced. Get some $1 who knows spec books. If something is cheaper online that is where I will get it. Same price then I will get it from the shop and pay cash to save them the 3% but usually find them to be priced sky high. I must be in the minority though or they would all be out of business. I don't know who buys from mile high but somebody must.

  6. I am not a fan of over spray and scuff but I could see a cgc 9.8

Whatever you think. If its for your collection than someone else's grade is irrelevant. For my personal collection I can care less what cgc calls the book. My grade is the only one that matters.

trash always sells great haha ... people will literally buy anything

They sure do. I sold plenty of $3 books that people paid $50 just because they are in a plastic case. Lately though the trash isn't moving. See tons of auctions were trash is being sold at surprising prices. Just my trash I guess. Market is fantastic. I just haven't been listing. Will take 2 weeks and dig through my boxes. Will sell everything good then I will be done until new books get hot. Pretty much done now. Not going to find any silver age I missed. Figure I will come across some miles and she hulk or something. Will set aside riri ms marvel silk and such so I won't have to search for them in future. I am not organized at all so will be a project. Then you will post some trash that sells for $50 bucks now that I never knew was a thing and will be right back to the same mess. Might have to take longer and get better organized. Fun to buy comics. The sorting not so much.

  8. My sales have slowed as well. But I have been shopping a lot. Books are selling great. No deals on anything popular. See a bunch of trash selling. If you want sales throw it up for auction. If you aren't selling good it because you don't have anything good or are asking too much. If I had anymore she future red hulk rogue miles, hot Campbell covers, silver age ff xmen keys I am sure my sales would be amazing. I no longer have any hope of a down market so back to buying at full speed. Will go through some long boxes and see what I can find. But yeah my over priced garbage that few people have any interest in isn't selling. Look at your inventory or have board look at it and see if anyone says I would buy that at that price. I don't have a single book listed that I would be interested in. Just waiting for a sucker to come along. I ask for top $ and if the book isn't hot I don't expect it to sell fast. Some junk has been for sale for years.

The first appearance of Cindy is that volumes #1 right? I know there were tons of those printed, so no telling if it’ll pick up at some point, but it’s a pretty common dollar book in these parts, even as a 5.99 cover price.

Someone with no name or face gets bit by spider. Vol 3 2014 Probably 100k print run.

I am not sure why but ASM V3 No 5 is selling well as 2nd Silk.

That is only thing in it.

Issue 1 some female gets bit by spider. No name or face. Issue 2 single page cameo, shown shooting web out of finger and knowing spiderman identity, no face shown. Issue 3 no face is shown but there is a 2 page cameo and character name is revealed as Cindy and she shows the ability to stick to ceiling. 4 is the 1st full Appearance of Cindy and last name Moon and the name silk but she just wraps herself in webbing for Costume. Issue 8 she gets a clothing Costume.

I always wanted the ultimate falloutb4 2nd print cgc 9.8, should i buy it now or do you think itll cool off in the future?  I should of bought it a few months ago when i wanted it badly

I think it will cool off but no promises. Personally I never buy a hot book no matter how bad I want it. Either it comes down or I never own it. Plenty of other books out there. Want me to talk you out if it. It's just yet another spiderman and the cover isn't anything great and it's a 2nd print. Why would you want that garbage.

  12. CGC’s state-of-the-art holder combines superior optics and advanced archival materials to provide the best in display and preservation. A tamper-evident seal and numerous security features provides an even higher level of confidence.

Comics of nearly any size fit in the CGC holder. The CGC holder also locks and stacks with other CGC holders, both old and new, making the new holder easy to integrate with your existing collection, and creating a uniform display you can be proud of.

I think about this inquiry all the time... good

I think about it. Not all the time. Different titles can help or hurt. Might be a big difference in print run. What hurts a book even worse is a cover. If xmen 244 had a great cover I think it would be worth more than 221. Crazy a villain is worth more than a hero but that cover is awful. Higher print run as well I would guess but still. Iron 55 avg 10 dc 26 all bad covers. If hulk 181 had a terrible cover without him on it I believe it would be worth less.

15 years ago there were 9000 Blockbuster Video stores in the world, now there are ZERO

Great point! Totally the same thing. I am sure music stores are the same. Video games will probably follow. These are media entertainment things. Easiest hassle free cheapest way will win out. Majority of people haven't rented a movie or bought a cd since Netflix and Napster. Most people aren't bagging and slabbing or speculating on CDs dvds. People do collect video games, but mostly vintage ones. I dont know of people buying 50 copies of the latest call of duty for speculation or picking out the best copies to send off for grading.

Printed comics aren't going anywhere. They are still profitable and a good marketing advertising tool. Maybe dc won't be producing them but that is because they are poorly ran.
