  1. I picked this up for the nostalgia. I was already a huge Byrne fan at the time because I loved his Fantastic Four run, which i read in pieces whenever i could get my hands on a back issue, and was really excited to see his version of Venom (who was another of my faves). I just remember seeing Venom showing up on the last page and thinking this is the worst looking Venom I've ever seen!
  2. I have been trying to create an order using the new system all weekend but every time I hit the submit button it says my order can't be submitted now, try again later. I've tried two different payment methods so my cards being declined are not the problem.
  3. You have to be careful though, I know some newsstand copies have been green labeled because the store put the sticker on (or at least cgc thinks they did). I think it boils down to whether cgc thinks the store put the sticker on or if it was distributed that way. If I remember right there are some DC comics where this is a contentious issue.
  4. It is. That month all the Ghost Rider family of books had those parchment paper type covers without barcodes on the outside but put sticker barcodes on the newsstand copies. I was a little worried CGC might green label this because of the sticker but luckily they did not.
  5. My experience went up and down. I agree that early to mid 90s there were still a ton of newsstands available. I used to buy them at Safeway which had a huge rack for Marvel, another for DC, and a third for all the rest. That was consolidated sometime after Heroes Return (I remember because the first issue of Lobdel/Davis Fantastic Four was on the shelf) into one big rack for everything. That probably completely went away a year or so later. It was after this though that the Target in my town started carrying the major Marvel titles (they had Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-men and what not). Borders also moved into the town next to mine and had a sizable rack until 2001 or 2002. I do think the percentage did go up around 2013 or just before as well because of Barnes and Noble. They started carrying almost all the Marvel and DC titles for a little over a year until Marvel, and later DC, pulled out of newsstand altogether. This was funny because when it started they literally had 12 copies of every title they sold on their stand when they put them out. I remember thinking that was probably too many for the newsstand market. As time went on it was reduced to 2 copies per title right before it ended.
  6. No problem, I started collecting around the time this came out and have been buying some of my favorites that got me hooked on reading comics so I was excited to see this one pop up.
  7. I have about 20 CGC Graded copies of Fantastic Four and FF from the Hickman era, all of which are price variants and none of which say Newsstand Edition on the label. I don't specifically recall if I put newsstand on the CGC submission form for this issue but I usually do and they have never come back with that noted on the label. I never have luck with CGC and newsstand labels though, if you go back in this thread I'm the one who posted the pic of the Fantastic Four Unplugged/Untold Tales of Spider-Man flipbook which only existed on the newsstand and they sent it back to me as a regular issue of Fantastic Four Unplugged without even a note that Untold was in the back of it.
  8. So two listings for ASM #365 just showed up on Mycomicshop.com. Both are CGC 9.8 but one is direct and one is newsstand. As you can see the newsstand is 3 times as much as the direct. Is this the current market or is this seller just crazy (it's a consignment so mycomicshop.com didn't set the price)? I've been collecting newsstands since the Hickman Era on Fantastic Four because it was easiest for me to get them at Barnes and Noble and I kinda got addicted to them. This was just the latest side by side example of how crazy this market has gotten (or an example of a seller who will never sell that item, we'll see)😄
  9. I got this one cheap b/c it's qualified, but I still think it's pretty cool.
  10. I do like this cover a lot. I just recently started reading Batman again so I don't actually know what happens inside these issues😆.
