Shifting gears, but somewhat related: this is why I've never even taken the time to register to bid on ComicConnect....

Just so you don't get the wrong idea, the original asking price on that piece was set by the pieces owner and does not reflect the opinion of the staff at ComicConnect. when it didn't sell it was taken to Comiclink, and, well, you can see what happened.

    hello folks,

I am more than happy to show you here my new acquisition. I am a hardcore Vertigo (and Bachalo and Shade) fan, so this piece is very important for me. I had the impression that, considering the explosion of prices, the beauty of the art and the presence of Constantine, this piece would have reached twice or three times the price paid by me.

I read somewhere in other posts that some of you don't love comicconnect; my first (and only, for no) experience with them has been more than positive and I would like publicly to thank Micah for having helped me through the whole payment/shipping process.

For those of you extremely lazy, I am attaching both the CAF link and an image of the piece. Comments are more than welcome.

It sounds like this issue keeps happening. From a business perspective, this should be an easy fix.

Give sellers 7 days to ship the book with tracking or inform you it is lost. Every week after that is 10% off of the original sale price refunded to the buyer at the sellers expense. And if the seller cancels or can't find it, they cover the paypal fees, or CC does. The buyer should NEVER have to cover fees for problems they don't cause or create. Thats just bad business.

See how many books dont get shipped if you do that.

This is not a bad idea, I will pass it along.

  6. Ok, a lot has been said here, some valid, some less so.

when you deal with the number of consignors that we do mistakes are sure to happen every now and again. I can only speak for myself, but I have been working on ways to, at the very least, keep them to a minimum. Realistically there’s no way for us to have every consigned book on premises, for a variety of reasons, but the idea to confirm the possession of the book before payment is required is a good one, and I will absolutely pass it along.

I get that it’s irritating to not get timely responses from customer service, that is not something that I directly have anything’s to do with. My email is micahs@metropoliscomics.com, if anyone wants to contact me directly with any issues I will do my best to resolve them quickly and with as little hassle as possible.

I do appreciate the feedback, both good and bad. It’s how we work to make improvements, all I ask is for a bit of patience.

    thank you

This sounds more like an "unscrupulous or horribly disorganized seller" problem than a Comic Connect one, although their communication system could use some work.  Hopefully, these two books are not from the same seller, but the stories sure sound similar.  Comic Connect would be well served by declining any further consignment business from the consignor(s) of these books.

    That's pretty frustrating.

We do stop taking consignments from sellers who repeatedly don't have the books they sell. Unfortunately it's impossible to keep everything in house, from a storage perspective.

    Hello All,

I'm posting this to see if anyone else has experienced horrible customer service/ lack of communication when buying on ComicConnect.

I bought a Fantastic Four #45 CGC 9.2 for $4200 on April 1st.  I sent the a check a few days later as the funds were withdrawn from my account shortly after.

I waited until May 12th (Over a month later) - seeing as I know auction houses are really backed up due to pandemic circumstances.  They replied back to me in an e-mail stating, "

I've messaged the shipping department. If you do not hear from us, the order will be bumped ahead and we should be shipping today.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay.  Best,
    ComicConnect Support Team".

Fast forward to May 19th.  No replies back from ComicConnect yet.  So I sent them another e-mail asking what the "spoon" is going on with this order?

Fast forward to May 28th.  I finally receive an email back from them, stating, "We are very sorry about the delay for your invoice #155111. We have been in contact with the consignor of the Fantastic Four #45 and they let me know that they have been checking their locations for the book and will check one last spot over this weekend, we will have an answer for you by Tuesday on the status of the book."

Sorry for the long post, but I figured people who read this would want to see where I'm coming from/my mindset/frustration with this HORRIBLE COMPANY.

    Steve,

On behalf of ComicConnect, I want to say how sorry we are about the delay in this order. Because we deal in books on consignment sometimes there is a delay from ordering to shipping, in the case of this book the consignor was away when the purchase was made and upon his return was unable to locate it, he's been searching for it since and feels terribly that it hasn't turned up. He has one more place he thinks it could be and is also concerned that it may have been stolen. I'm including a picture of the book here just on the off chance that it shows up someplace else.

Be assured that we are doing our best to rectify the situation, and if the book does not turn up you will be refunded in full.

    Thank you,

    Micah from ComicConnect

This would be 1st comic app like Batman Adventures #12 for Harley. Pretty sure the toys and cartoon came first. I guess this would be similar to a Batman Adventures #12 page with Harley.

This book actually predated their 1st appearance in the cartoon by a month or so.

  10. Metropolis Gallery’s exhibition of original art by Sean Murphy focusing on his Batman: White Knight series is coming to a close this weekend. There’s still a great variety of excellent pieces available, including covers, interior pages, and preliminary drawings.

Sean’s work is truly a marvel, and the collector response to the show has proven that he is an artist worth paying attention to. These pages won’t be available forever, and with the hobby moving the way it’s been it’s likely you won’t see them at these prices again.

If you’ve been on the fence about picking one up there’s no more time to wait. Reasonable time payments can be arranged on most pieces.

The art is also still open to being viewed in person through Friday, please call or email to set up an appointment.

See all the available art here!

Call 212-260-4147 or email micahs@metropoliscomics.com for assistance or with any questions.

The auction ends tomorrow, March 2nd as part of our larger Mega Monthly auction.

    https://www.comicconnect.com/item/908749

There were reportedly only 35 copies of each volume printed for copyright purposes, which were given to the contributing creators. It's very rare that these come up for auction, likely the rarest DC book of the Bronze Age..

The rest of the items from Denny's collection can be found here...

    https://www.comicconnect.com/browse/set/61726

And the whole auction here... Lots of great books available.
