  1. It would be awesome to have an incredible amount of sketch covers. I just got into the hobby not too long ago and amassed over 20+ in that short period of time. But since I prefer them slabbed. I try to be picky on which ones to pursue. I can't imagine having over 100+ and having minimal storage space. I've seen the names mentioned above collections and they're pretty incredible. Not sure if there's any worth in these sketches but I do appreciate the hobby. Especially when you get an actual sketch from your favorite artist growing up.

  2. Just to give you an idea for a sketch cover...

    Image #1 Remarque $500
    Image#2 Profile Sketch $850-$1000
    Image#3 Head Sketch $2000-$3000
Image#4 Bust shot no background $4000
Image#4 Bust shot with background (wraparound) $8000

I asked Moy if Lee would recreate Hulk #181 or something similar with both characters....$10K+  (but he also said Lee would unlikely do the request)

  3. I spoke to Albert Moy (Lee's Rep) over at TorpedoCon yesterday regarding a sketch cover commission. Depending on the sketch request. If it's something specific like a Homage or how the character is posed there's a good chance it will be rejected. Usually the request should be made simple for instance I just asked for a full sketch of Wolverine ($4-5k). But depending on your patience...sketches completed could take up to 2 years. And you'll have to pay upfront. Moy holds the money till Lee is done and receives the sketch. I couldn't do the profile sketch. I've seen too many and they all look the same.

I understand that the one that sold a couple of weeks ago for $25,000 was a Newsstand but an $18,000 dollar difference? That is a huge drop...

Yes...also look at the location of Stan Lee's signature...huge turn off for some bidders...

    The seller thought $10,000+ easy....

  5. Hello,

I was looking to purchase a sketch from Bob Layton. Currently I'm negotiating with his Rep Spencer Beck on purchasing the piece. I did ask him if he can submit it directly to CGC for Certification. Unfortunately he's not facilitator. How Can I have that sketch get a yellow label for Certification? Do I send the form directly to Spencer Beck to fill out or does it have to come from Bob Layton directly?

  6. Before the summer last year I was searching for this book like a mad man. I just got back into collecting and made a short list of comics I wanted to get. I remember seeing 2 on Ebay at $2500 but passed cause I didn't have the cash at the time. Then of course when I did they were gone. I do remember being picky because if I'm spending that kind of cash. I wanted to make sure it looked pretty clean. So jagged edges, Mis-wrap's or bent corners were a definite pass. So seeing now how people spend that kind of money on a condition like that is crazy to me.

Note: I was able to get a 9.8 copy before they jumped.
