  1. I was thinking about absorene as well. Glad you mentioned it too. I think maybe beyond a dry clean and press, like deep cleaning and spine fix, just doesn't make sense with the other defects and I'm happy to keep it as is. As far as the top staple and how the book folds, Im at a complete loss. Never seen anything like it myself. When I open it at the centerfold and look at both sides everything lines up. But when closed, it's all all off. Maybe it was trimmed?
  2. Journey into Mystery #88 with a cover date of Jan. 1963, Loki's Revenge! I think the scans do a pretty good job of showing the defects. There is a tear on the front cover, middle-right, edge, 3/8". Also, on page 12/13 on the top, outer-corner, there is a little triangular piece missing probably quivalent to about a 1/4"x1/4". Staples are secure to covers and pages. Pages are in the Off-White category. Thanks for the help
  3. Journey into Mystery #87 with a cover date of December 1962 where Thor is a "Prisoner of the Reds!" This one has been read two, maybe three times...jk. I've included the front and back scans and a couple other pics to show more defects. The top staple is detached from the front cover but attached to the back cover. Everything else is secure. The last couple of pages, when looked at from the back side of the page, second to last has a 1/4"x1/4" piece missing from the top left corner and the last page has a cumulative 1"x1" piece missing from the top left corner. You can see the piece missing from the back cover in the upper left corner. Pages aren't bad, not supple but not brittle and are off-white. Staples are clean. Appreciate the help with grading. This purchase put a smile on my face because this copy must have passed through a lot of hands over the decades...
  4. The Mighty Thor #164 "Lest Manking Fall!" from May of 1969. The scans look pretty good as far as catching defects. Off-white pages on this issue. Thanks all!
  5. I got a rain cloud emoji back from Mike on the grades recorded reply....
  6. The Mighty Thor #160 from January of 1969 featuring the 1st apprance of the Wanderers and the 1st appearances of the Taurians and Archeopians! Scans look like they capture all the defects on the book, pages are off-white. Note that on the back of the book you see another books rusty staples rubbed on the cover. Staples on this book are solid. Thanks all!
  7. Journey into Mystery #121 from October of 1965 and featuring Crusher Creel aka The Absorbing Man. Everything appears to show up in the scans. On the back cover, bottom left, that is indeed a piece missing out of that bottom corner which, 5 seconds earlier, was there but I was a tad careless...off-white pages... Thanks
  8. So, new to Pulps but fascinated by them and I have a couple of questions for those who have been into Pulps. First, how bad is Trimming considered and how badly do you estimate it will effect potential CGC grading? And, did some Pulps have overhang on two out of three sides but not the whole issue in production? Like, did the top of the book get chosen for the cut-off point and the outer side edge and bottom get left with over-hang in some cases? I ask because I have a few copies where this is the case and I don't think someone would trim the top but not the outer edge or bottom.
  9. Journey into Mystery #120 from September of 65. A well-read copy with off-white pages and the defects showing up pretty well in the scans. 1st Appearance of Norma Thaxton. Who is Norma Thaxton you might, as I did, ask? Well Marvel Fandom says she's a patient of Donald Blake's....that's it...so unless she gets bitten by a spider or swallowed by a black suit, not a key. Thanks for the help!
  10. Journey into Mystery from August of 1965. Scans look like they capture the defects. Pages are off-white. Not a sexy key issue but appreciate the help with grading it out.
  11. I'm not anywhere near one of the better graders here, but, I think moving on is fine as well.
  12. Amazing Spider-Man #31 Scans show the defects. Off-White pages. Thanks for the help.
  13. PGM Spidey Super Stories #11 August 1975 1st Spider-Woman, 1st Black Spider-Woman (Valerie), Earth -57780 Scans seem to show all the defects. That bend on the back, upper right side, goes through several pages until it fades out towards the front of the issue. White/ Off-White pages. Thank for the help!
  14. Journey Into Mystery #123 Everything looks like it shows up well in the scans... Thanks all!
  15. Journey Into Mystery #122 1965 All the defects seem to show up well in the scans... Thanks all!
  16. Tomb of Dracula #18, Feb of 1974 Dracula versus Werewolf By Night!! Scans look like they catch everything but note that the indentation, back cover, center-right, is not a tear. Off-white to White pages. This copy with a C&P would be snappy but the cost to do that just isn't quite realistic. Thanks for your help.
  17. I also had 1.8 on the Startling Comics, ended with I think, 25 points overall. I went, by round, 8, 7, 5, 5. Pretty happy with that considering where Im at grading-wise and the strong finish was nice. Thanks to Mike once again.
  18. Thor #127 (1966) Pretty straight-forward defect-wise, although, there is a line on the back cover under the word "Another" that looks like a potential tear but is an indentation. Off-white pages. Thanks again all
  19. Totally in! Looking to improve on my #86 finish from the last one....
  20. Fantastic Four #247...not an older book or key but looking for how this would be graded with the cover, upper right-edge defect, and bottom right-edge cover defect amongst any thing else note-worthy. Thanks all!
  21. Thor #192 ...I believe this was the last Stan Lee issue from the start of the original run...anyways, pics catch everything defect-wise. Curious to see what that top right corner costs. Thanks everyone
