  1. I sent in an order which was a mix of Economy and Value tiers, and it was received into the system on 4/19. It has been in the Scheduled for Grading status since then. Prior to that, I submitted an order which was all Modern books. It was received into the system on 4/6, and has been in the Received status since then. I was just wondering if something was off, since the Modern order was received 2 weeks earlier and is still in Received status? Thanks
  2. The back definitely looks like the examples in that link. I noticed it more on the front though, where there are several "puddles". I'm not sure what I should do at this point....I can't tell if any damage has been done to the book.
  3. Thanks. After searching for images of slabs with Newton Rings, that looks to be the case. I'm not sure if the warping/waviness is something separate from the Newton Rings, or directly related. When you look at the slab from a side angle it looks like little hills and valley's.
  4. I recently purchased this CGC slab (graded in 2014), and it arrived today. It appears that the inner well is heavily warped. I tried to get the right angle in a photo, but it doesn't accurately reproduce the way it looks. I have attached a couple of photos...one to try and show the warping, and another to show where it appears the inner well is and isn't pressing directly against the comic (you can see the contrast). I guess I have a few questions: 1. Is this something that is known to occur with CGC slabs (of certain years)? 2. Is this cosmetic-only? or is it possible that the book has been damaged while in the slab by this warping? I am primarily concerned with the comic being in the condition it was graded, and if just cosmetic, I could seek a re-holder in the future. 3. Would you expect that a seller would disclose this? Thanks
  5. A number of things going on with this one (e.g. foxing on back cover, spine split on bottom, creases, etc.). The front and back covers have significant sections that are separated from the spine (but both are still attached), and the centerfold is detached at the bottom staple.
  6. I wouldn't even consider it...Just focus on the cover and the "4.0".
  7. I had noted multiple stains on back cover, but no other specifics. The red-ish stain was like some kind of candy or something sticky.
  8. I checked my notes and didn't have any tears noted, but the bigger mark between the I and the C sure looks like one.
  9. From what I can see in pictures, I don't see any other signs of moisture damage. The front cover has no staining. Here is a pic of the inside of the back cover:
  10. I assumed staining, but not sure. There is a section that is totally clear. Also curious how this would impact overall grade, assuming the rest of the book was in the 4.5-5.0 range before taking the back into account?
  11. I have a JIM #86 that I bought when I was a kid, and I didn't do a great job of inspecting it before I bought it (so focused on the front cover). The back cover has a chunk that was torn off, and was placed inside the book, I suppose to give the next owner the option to re-attach it. I am looking for any recommendations on what to do with it. For context, I would grade this book at a 4.0-4.5 if this piece was not missing. I was planning to submit to CGC. Should I just leave the book as-is, and throw away the little piece? The two pics show the area that is missing, one with the piece overlaid.
  12. Yeah, I just started getting back into this last year (after 30 years away from the hobby) and was only planning to slab some of my collection. However, last month I started getting the itch to buy some books, at apparently the worst possible time...
  13. I've been watching sales on Ebay and HA over the last couple of months, and over the last month or so, I am seeing some crazy sales that do not appear to be one-off anomalies. For example, Giant Size X-Men #1 (8.5): The average of the last 5 sales (all in March) is ~$7,400 compared to ~$3,500 average in December. I see numerous examples of 30%-100% higher sales over a few month period, with the biggest increases happening in the last 30 days. Granted, I am looking mostly at SA keys, but I'm not including books like SS #3, Avengers #8, etc.. For those that are familiar with the comic book market, is there something in particular that is driving prices up significantly over the last couple months? The MCU has been going for a long time, so maybe the Disney/Marvel situation?
  14. There was a comic shop in Pleasant Hill (off Contra Costa Blvd), in the same strip mall as a video game arcade (it was called Regency I think...this was late eighties, maybe into early 90's). Was that Land of Nevawuz?
