This is helpful. Hypothetically, if I took a 9.4 book and cut the cover and taped it just like this book. Would it likely be a .5 as well? In other words, is it the nature of this defect that automatically drops it to a .5 (regardless of the overall condition)?

General question: If this was your book, what would you do with it at this point? Just leave it alone? or would you look into restoration and re-submit? It's not like the tear is the only problem....

I guess the cover tear was too much.... Here's my question: If the Marvel Value Stamp was missing (it isn't), would this likely have been a Purple label 0.5? Grader Notes: light staining to covermoderate bends to covermoderate creasing to coverthree fourths piece re-attached with tape cover

Well, this one was a pleasant surprise! Helped to offset some lower than expected grades on a couple of other books.

PGM Sub-Mariner #1 -- GRADE IS IN
Slyde replied to Slyde's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
-
-
Agreed. I am new to this, but it seems it is very tough to grade as you get into the higher end.
-
Well, didn't get the 9.0 I was hoping for, but at least no major negative surprises. I did get this one pressed. Grader Notes:light fingerprints left top of front cover light wear full left of back cover very light crease left top of front cover very light crease right center of front cover very light crease right top of front cover

Is the approximate turnaround time for each tier in relation to the number of days from the time the submission is received? or is it the number of days from one of the other statuses (e.g. Scheduled for grading, Grading, etc.)? Thanks

Gotcha. No, I didn't press it before I sent it in.
-
I did not have it pressed. Looking at it from different angles in the light, the dimples were small areas near the spine that had color breaks. From all that I have read, it didn't seem like it would help much.

I am planning to send in a submission soon, and will likely use UPS. I will definitely be insuring by declaring the value, but are the following options deemed recommended or unnecessary (or could they cause problems): Adult Signature Required Direct Delivery Only Also, my understanding is that the return shipping would be USPS registered by default. Are there any indications on how the recent USPS struggles are affecting registered mail? Thanks

Quick press or regular press?

A couple of questions: 1. If I am going to have a comic pressed and graded, I assume I add the turnaround time for both the grading and the pressing? So in the example of a Modern tier book, 32 days (grading) + 60 days (pressing) --- 92 days total? 2. If I submit a group of Modern and Economy tier books together, my understanding is that they will be shipped back separately (one shipment for each tier). If I have a couple of the books pressed, do the rest of the books in that tier (not getting pressed) just wait so that they all get shipped back together? Thanks

This one looks brand new, but there are a few things and not sure how much they affect grade: Top left corner has a tiny bit of fraying (see photo) Bottom left corner has the same Back lower left (see photo) has a very subtle curl at end of page. Hard to se I wasnt planning to press, but assuming that would remedy #3, and improve the grade (even with the presence of #1 and #2), then it would probably make sense.

This should be the last of the first group that I am planning to submit. Definitely going to get this one pressed, as it has some dimples.
-
Yes, is that something that would likely be remedied with a clean and press?
