  1. be careful with seller direcomics

I bought a graded book from him.  The listing said he had multiple copies of the book and it turns out the one I was sent was not pictured.  When I got it there was a plastic shard inside the case.  I messaged him about it and his reply was "I have no idea what you are talking about."  I sent him a picture showing the plastic inside and asked how he wanted to handle it.  I was open to getting another copy if he still had them available or him making contact with CGC for me to return as a mechanical error.  I got no response from him at all.  After a few days I initiated a return and sent the book back.  When he received it he decided he was going to refund me less than half of the payment from the sale.  I had to open a claim with ebay support to get the rest of my money back.  He was able to remove my negative feedback afterward.

Happy to shed some light here. In general we are obviously looking for sets with images and text. However, we are mostly looking at originality and whether or not the set conveys what that collector is all about. We shy away from sets where the text is copied from other sources unless that text also includes something specific to the collector. We tend to gravitate towards the sets that have 100% images, 100% text, overall set description and somewhat recent activity.

The formatting does not matter as much to us as the content. So, if we are looking at a set that has beautiful formatting but nothing original, we would lean towards a set that may not be as pretty but has an interesting spin.

Originality, originality, originality. We look for information that we can't get elsewhere. Is there a story to how you acquired something? We want to read about it. Do you have some cool related item? Load a pic in the second image field - you don't have to stick to using those fields strictly for front and back.

If this all sounds vague, it's because this is super subjective. This is the category where literally anyone can win - deep pockets not required. And yes, if you want to campaign, go for it. We look at hundreds of sets for this category and if we are missing an obvious winner, we want to know it. Our goal is always to recognize effort.

Not trying to highjack the thread, but I too was a little confused about the best presented sets and what you were looking for.  Thank you Dena for adding some much needed info.  Maybe you could let me know if this set of mine was heading in the right direction and where I can improve. https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=144026

Is this how the turnaround times are working now? I was thinking/hoping the turnaround time at the time your books were delivered was what would be the estimate for that batch of books. Is that not the case?

Going by the submissions I have had go through the process this year, If CCS is not involved, you take whatever the posted turnaround time is when your submission is marked as received and start the countdown from when it was delivered.  At least that is how mine have worked out.

While I am glad that Hasbro is finally addressing the issue of sold out store exclusives it is a little too late.  There is a difference between a store exclusive and a limited edition.  I get that a limited edition will sell out and is not available to everyone.  I also get that it is determined by the retailer how much their purchase order is in terms of quantity.  However, every time there is a store exclusive, there are people that are shut out that would have bought it.  It's good for an item to sell out but an item should try to satisfy demand at the original offering price.

Walmart and Hasbro continuously lose sales because Walmart does not order enough.  What happens is that people miss out on product and there is nothing to be excited about.  Those people stop buying all together or start to fade away.

Hasbro is trying to address this by offering limited quantities of store exclusives on their website and pushing retailers like Amazon (Bad Batch VC Set) and Target (Joe Classified) to offer more but the more it becomes frustrating for the consumer, the more the consumer looks to spend their money elsewhere.

The biggest problem with Amazon and Walmart exclusives is the scalpers that clean out the stock the first minute they go on sale.  This has been an issue with Transformers for years now.

People could easily break the formula if they'd just return the old labels when they resubmit.  (:

The formula would still hold for the total number of books in the census, it just doesn't work for the number of slabs currently in circulation.

Thanks for having my back, cause I wanted to leap for joy, after 6 months of "patience on the Eastman " lol

Still, hope it goes this way for others , and I'm not being hoodwinked

Cause part of me think it's a mirage :makepoint:

There is someone either helping us out or making a mistake and putting us at the wrong end of the line.  I just had 18 slow track moderns go through in three days when I was expecting 3 months.

My Pile of Loot from BBTS showed up this week, and I think I’m now pretty much caught up on my cast of the 86 movie. Also got a couple of additions to my Lost Light crew. (No idea how/why BBTS is still getting shipments of Thrilling 30 stuff, but I’m not complaining, as the prices are better than eBay).

Great pickups.  I remember grabbing a bunch of those thrilling 30 bots when they originally transitioned to store discount shelves.

  11. Even if they stopped accepting comics today it would take until the end of the year for them to reasonably catch up.  They are still opening packages from the first week of May.  That means there are two months of deliveries from everyone that sent in stuff to beat the price increases sitting in the waiting to be checked in que.  At the rate the opening delay is increasing anything not in the building now will probably not even get opened until after Halloween.
