  1. Gotta agree with all of this. In my store, for the first time ever, the book is getting a lot of negative feedback. The current storyline is almost a complete rehash of the prison storyline, only with a more cartoony villain. And Kirkman is throwing away characters that people love and not replacing them with anyone of interest. I doubt the bubble will bust as far as early issue prices any time soon, but if current long time subscribers keep dropping the book prices will at least level off. We saw about a 5% drop in subscribers following issue 100. Normally it would require a creator change on a book to make that many people drop it in one month.
  2. I really really like the late part of the run, so I kind of hoard them.
  3. ..I'd hypothesise that the damsel on the cover of #15 would have been wearing a red dress, but all the copies I've seen are orange. This is the curse of collecting Fiction House. If you wanted to know what a RED dress would look like on the cover, here it is. Also, I don't think it was supposed to be red. Below is a scan of the back cover of my Rangers #2 which shows a Planet 15 with an orange dress. Notice how the title of the Jungle comics is darker and not orange, so within the same printing run/coloring it shows two hues and the Planet is definitely orange and the jungle is definitely red/orange. Even if 15 were printed "darker", it would seem to me to be just a dark/deep orange and not red. My 2 cents....for now, but my opinion can be swayed..... Cool research! This is very helpful, now if I ever get a chance at this incredibly rare book at least I won't convince myself to hold out for a more red one!
  4. 67 is also a though issue. Only 9 on the census, with an 8.0 as the highest. I've been planning on resubmitting this one to CGC for ages. This scan is with my old scanner, so the colors are actually a little better than this.
  5. Agreed! If we are still on the topic of scarcity - this one is tough in grade - Jeff's is easily the best I've seen. Here's mine: This one is really tough. Only 11 on the census, and only 3 of those are above 6.0. With a lone 8.0 as the highest graded. Also one of the high numbers I still need.
  6. And here is my 7, which is my most recent addition to my run.
  7. That 13 is awesome! Here is my two 27s. The undercopy is available if someone wants to make me a PM offer!
  8. I've been working on my run for about 4 years, and limiting myself to books in the 6.0 to 9.0 range. Within that grade range, I have yet to see a 2 or 5 for sale or auction. Likewise with 14 and 15. There is actually only one graded 14 (a 6.0) and no 15s in my grade range. If I was picking the six that have been hardest for me, I would likely go with 15,14,5,2,17,18. Everything in the teens are tough though. And the early 20s aren't that easy either. They get even harder when you factor in trying to get ones with nice colors. Also, the competition for these books seems to be growing and growing! I was sure getting them a lot cheaper a couple years ago.
  9. My apologies in advance Mike, I always enjoy showing this one (Larson): Are you just looking at my wanted list and posting them all! So cruel!
  10. I need to get mine graded by CGC one of these days. Now that I've seen the colors on the two above, I probably need to upgrade too... stupid Fiction House...
  11. Blah, I need a 34 as well. And now that I've seen the colors on Steve's, it's going to be even harder to find one that I'll be happy with...
  12. Beautiful. Looks so much better than a 7.0.
  13. I'm always scared to click on this thread when there are new posts. I always assume someone else has snapped up a Planet I need. Cool Sheena, btw. Glad it wasn't a Planet this time!
  14. The book is hiding somewhere in the bowels of the stockroom -- in other words, misplaced. Our stock guys are tearing through the place looking for it, but it's proving elusive. I swear we haven't forgotten, just... stymied. Ok, good to know! If you can go ahead and set aside the Planet 7 I will definitely take it. Either with the 56, or by itself if the 56 continues to be elusive. Email is so outdated, random postings on message boards is clearly the way of the future for business.
  15. Since this thread seems like a good way to get a response from Frank... I am still waiting (13 days and counting) for a scan of the 8.0 Planet 56 that's on the website. You can just post the scan in this thread if you like! If it looks good I'll probably buy it and the other book we are discussing as well!
  16. Congrats Mike! It's a great book to have! If I ever want it back, I'll know who to reach Thanks! I promise to keep it nice and safe. No guarantee it can be pried out of my hands though!
  17. I'm finally a member!!! Extra special thanks to Sparkle City for an incredibly smooth transaction!
  18. I just thought of a sweet new game for the golden age board. To score points you follow up a cheetah post with a higher grade copy of a book he posted. Obviously to be fair, you have to own the book you're posting. For instance.... I score 1 point! The only downside is that cheetah is kinda like the Dungeon Master and doesn't really get to play... but he does get to make it as difficult as possible for the other players.
  19. I'm not a Tarzan fan, but that book is just beautiful!
  20. Great selection of pics, as usual with a couple I'd not seen before Sorry but I couldn't resist ... That is awesome!
