  1. No clues! Make 'em work for it! I have no idea what it is, as usual, but at least Scrooge is stumped this time too.
  2. Awesome BZ. Who needs to make the trip to San Diego, when you can see it all in this thread. Too bad none of it is for sale....
  3. When I bid on this one, I wondered if you had it yet...hopefully you werent the underbidder...
  4. Jeff, Its completely you and your Nedor thread's fault I am collecting Nedors. I dont know if I should thank you or curse you.
  5. Two new books that I've had for a while (at least a month for the Ranger), but I finally got around to scanning them today. First up, Rangers #26. My first Fiction House book. I love this cover. Rangers seem to have a lot of cool covers, and are relatively inexpensive, athough I did have to go close to double guide, and I think the colors on the actual book arent as nice as they were in the Ebay scan (my scan here is a closer representation, I believe). As for the grade... kind of a weak 7.5 in my opinion, I would personnally put it closer to 6.5, maybe 7.0. Next, from the last big Heritage auction, my first Nedor. It wont be my last! I love these Schomburg war covers. If this was a Timely, with a bondage and branding cover, it would have gone for 10 times the price I paid. The book itself is really nice, although the back cover is certainly more tan than I would like. Its safely here on the cool, low humidity, high elevation prairie now though, so it shouldnt get any worse.
  6. One of my favorite covers. I saw the book and passed because of the grade and have been kicking myself ever since. Great pick up.
  7. Toys too? I have no idea what that toy is, but seems likely its one of a kind, impossible to find, in perfect condition, and will blow the socks off some toy collectors on the boards.
  8. Cool Planets! The #71 is one of my favorite covers. Anyone on the boards trying to put together a full run of Planets? That would be a fun collection to be sure. I almost started collecting the whole run last night! There were some decent ones ending on ebay last night that had fairly reasonable opening bids that were still bidless with a couple hours to go. I looked over GPA and recent Heritage auctions and it looks like its a good time to get into Planet, as prices seem to be lower now than at any time in the last 5 years. In the end I decided I have enough irons in the fire right now, so my Planet run will have to wait for another day... but its definitely in my future plans. And this thread takes most of the blame.....
  9. I havent responded to the amazing books in this thread... but I have to comment on this. I'm blown away by the foresight and ingenuity of your plan. Simply amazing.
  10. I'm double posting this, but I'm pretty excited about it. I just love this cover. So much in fact that I overpaid Heritage for it. Presents waaaay better than a 4.0 in my opinion.
  11. Awesome, I can only hope to some day own one. Congrats!
  12. That's hitting below the belt! What an awesome book. Looks like I have to add another impossible book to my want list...
  13. Yeah, we better find an actual comic that sold in the 60K range that we all like better than the All Story, or else we might all flip to being pulp collectors.
  14. Even though I'm doing a Batman run, I'd take the Church Action. Of course I already have 2 Batman 6s, which is part of the decision, but more-so I think Mile Highs trump Allentowns.
  15. Of all the insane images on these boards, this one might be the most insane. Incredible, incredible collection. What is the 'How to defend your home' book in the top row? I've never seen that one before.
  16. As for the more current Tec vs Subby battle, both very cool, but I would take the Mile High Tec. Of course I'd probably rather use the huge amount of cash either one would go for and spend it on something else.
  17. I've seen a few people saying Batman #1 is fairly common... which is fine if you're comparing it to other golden age keys... but compared to silver age keys... there are almost 1200 X-men 1s in the census! There are 98 Batman #1s and more than half are restored. Not that there is anything wrong with owning or wanting to own Silver Age keys, but lets not get carried away and say that X-Men 1 is a better buy, because Batman 1 is common. Maybe you think the X-Men or the FF will be more culturally significant in 50 years than Batman (you will most likely be wrong ) but Batman 1 is still going to be 10 times harder to get, if not more.
  18. Blech! Look at that ugly miswrap. J/K That's a gorgeous copy! Congrats! I've noticed that most Batman #3s have that miswrap. Nice book Showcase, are you going to get it CGCed?
