  1. Okay, taking the pictures now. If this offer isn't good enough then I'll find a new message board. Peace, Chip I love that you are back but let's try to be positive today. Sounds like you are throwing up a new offer today which I hope you do not see as an all or nothing offer. I through up 4 different offers before Ryan grabbed the omni's and I have to admit I was getting pretty frustrated at that point but I would have come up with another offer I felt comfortable with in a day or so if no one grabbed my sets. This should be a fun process - you have three days to figure it out so it doesn't need to be a part time job but a fun diversion.
  2. Chip has offered the ASM 298 and 289 to me which I'm only willing to do if it helps mend some fences. He offered up his current offer to anyone and pretty much said he is done with the thread other than to offer up books from time to time. He was very upset last night so I'm hoping a resolution can be worked this sunny morning. The current offer is a nice LL 70 and some Sups books.
  3. Come on Greggy - you know you want that LL 70. It can be the only lower grade book in your collection.
  4. The Lois Lane book is very cool. But after the way everyone piled on Chip there is no way I'm ever participating in this thread. If you want more people participating in this thread you have a funny way of showing it. Good luck with TGT. The person offering up the LL was hoping you would think it was cool. If you take it then post up a book you think others will think is cool also. If your wrong then throw up another cool book until you find a person with your same taste. Takes some time but it's pretty much what the thread is about.
  5. I guess everyone else is sleeping off their hangover or licking their wounds from last nights fight. But like any good fight it hopefully is about resolving issues so you can move forward. I can be harsh and blunt at times and even I will say people were harsh with Chip but come on man - playing the "I don't have time to change up my offer" and "I can't give away my new books" cards was pretty weak. I bet most of the books offered here could be put in the "inventory" category if the person wants to. Your second offer was quickly looking to be a dud since people just do not have a use for a non complete set of that series. I don't know your situation but pulling one nicer book from the stack you just purchased and offering it up would have been a great gesture. By saying you don't have time to post up another book is a slap in the face of all the people that took so much time putting this thread together and those that put in hours trying to get back your stolen money.
  6. Sold point. Probably would work equally as well.
  7. Aren't most of the perceived issues with PIF is people taking big ticket offerings and offering up drek? Money typically defines drek. True-but drek to me is more Shadowhawk II # 3-now the previous poster can certainly veto, but Chip has made it well known where his income falls. I think he legitimately is trying to offer a package thriftily that's made somewhat of a theme. I think Chip sounds like a great guy and I wish him a quick financial turn-around but I see his offer as a step down compared to the two Spiderman books. I have no veto power so I guess we will just see how things go. I retract what I said. Chip - leave your books up for a day and see how things go. Maybe I'm completely off-base on what people are looking for. I tend to assign value to most things and doing a cost to benefit analyses is part of my everyday life as an Engineer so maybe I take it too far at times. I promise no more comments from me about quality of the offers except to accept the offers I like. I'm cool enough to accept when I need to go another route. I honestly thought you were joking when you posted slagging off his offer so quickly. +1 must be sarcasm, no one would be that harsh that quick. Nope - I was trying to be blunt and honest and came across as harsh and crass.

  9. Sounds great in principal. Lets see how things go once we have a few offers expire.

  12. That's the kind of lot I'd be interested in. Unfortunately, I'm not eligible. Didn't we just go over not telling people you are interested in a set if you can't grab it for two days?
  13. No Golden Age / Silver Age reader copy collectors? I'd switch it up if I was you since I see most people blowing these out for $1/$2 per book in sales threads.
  14. The chatter of the birds is what makes the tree extra special. The second post is always there for people to check what the current offer is.
  15. ...but again, why is there a sense of urgency in the first place above and beyond what the rules state? You want faster turnover? Change the rules to reflect that. Thread moving too slow for you? Change the rules to reflect that. As I've stated before, cut all "chatter" posts other than the posting/claiming of offers and nearly all of the problems in this thread go away. No one will know what others want, and if nothing is claimed than the offeror has to switch it up as much as he can before enough time passes where he'll get a strike. Peace, Chip So you agree that the "chatter" is sometimes not positive and in this case Harvey is saying he feels our particular "chatter" was not helpful to the thread. Out of respect for the thread - lets just chatter about other stuff and leave out the pre-emptive "I'll take it in two days" talk.
  16. I think you missed the point of his post. Its a lack of urgency to the person offering up the books he is trying to eliminate. People become complacent if they think their offer will be taken in 2 days which leads to people sitting around for two days. You and I thought the offer was good and we should have kept it under our hats because we are sitting on the sidelines.
  17. Well said and I'm happy to follow. Sorry if my comments were felt to derail the thread for a time - not my intent but I can see how they could have.
  18. I don't understand which portion you disagree with? The offer was found to be good since a person quickly took it when it did not cause him to sit out for the month. I agree with you that people should offer up multiple options and switch it up when its stale but I do not think they should be required to if the offer is good. There has to be a medium between people being complacent and people just being too darn picky.
  19. Thanks for the info. I think the system worked perfectly. The person who offered up a good offer did not have his feet held to the flame to come up with an even better offer just to avoid the strike and now after two days we will get a new offer on the table for the people who didn't like the ASM 298, 299 and cool book.
  20. I missed out on this whole conversation since I was sleeping (crazy me) but I did question this statement. Didn't Ducky post up a first offer that was quickly panned and then he came back with a nice offer (definitely in line with what others have offered up). It looks like he waited the 2 days and did nothing to change his offer for whatever reason and it was taken within seconds of becoming available to all members. What did we learn from this? The offer was definitely good since multiple members would have taken it (me included) but it wasn't good enough for someone to use their once a month acceptance. Are we now asking members to not only come up with a good offer but then rotate the offer to see if they come up with the right combination necessary to get someone to use their acceptance. That kind of feels like the ugly guy at the dance having to do around offering flowers to the girl so they will dance with him. I don't think many people are going to accept any offer if they have to go through that much risk of rejection.
  21. Looks like the complete opposite from the old PIF - everyone is giving - no one is taking.
  22. Pretty much midnight tonight EST.
  23. I hope Ducky throws up another option tonight or someone takes his Spideys. I'm starting to get kind of scared to take the Spideys with how tough this crowd is. We will see what tomorrow brings.
