  1. An email from Frankie’s went out today which included all of the formal court documentation related to the bankruptcy case. The attached is an excerpt related to unrealized preorders. My question, what do we think of this plan? I paid for two graded Dell’Otto books (one signed) and I’m not sure that two ungraded versions of the book make sense as an appropriate settlement

Also, is this thread a good place to talk about the case or is there another forum somewhere where customers are discussing next steps?

  2. Pink arrived today and is about to go hang out with its gold and silver friends in the ME line. At least the QC#6 stamp isn’t scuffed. The book was just graded last week so whatever issues CGC thought they resolved, they haven’t. Paying extra for crazy fast Fast Track isn’t worth it if I have to go through the ME process for every book. Come on, guys. Get it together.

Agreed. It's a tough situation for BTC. Like I said, they already sent them back to CGC twice to re-holder for the same problems and they didn't fix it.

BTC was getting a lot of pressure from customers, mostly because of the price tag on the book.

Whether it sold for the original price of $150 or the secondary market price of $1,500, I definitely agree that CGC should never have let these books ship the first time, let alone more than once.

Neal Adams! I would send in like 100 bookslol.

Unfortunately with his underline health condition I am not sure he will be at any shows:cry:

He is truly one of the last remaining great artist from the 60's/70s.

You can actually submit directly to Neal through his site. He’ll sign your books and submit them to CGC for a yellow label.

  5. Let me start by saying that without CGC's private signings, I would have never gotten back into comics or had the opportunity to get so many of my books signed by so many great creators.  That said, the following interaction with CGC's Customer Service bothered me.  As did many of you, I sent several books for the Johns & Co signing that was supposed to have taken place in December, but due to the Canadian lockdown that prevented Fabok from attending, the signing was delayed.  Fabok has since signed and returned his books to CGC but remaining creators are MIA.  Two of my books included Detective #1000 (which was to be signed by Johns, Mahnke, and Tomasi), and Justice League #1 (Johns and Finch).  With the announcement of the Jim Lee signing, I requested that these two books be moved to Jim Lee (I've done this twice in the past and all I had to do was fill out a new submission form and send the PDF to a Cust Service rep).  The exchange below, filled with canned responses, is what followed.  I get that waiting is a big part of the process, but the fact that we've been waiting so long without reasonable explanation and without recourse (I can't even dispute the charge with my credit card anymore) sends an unfortunate message to the fans.  I mean, if they were going to mail the books to Fabok, why not keep everyone else on schedule and mail the books to Canada afterwards?  Why hold books that Fabok was never intended to sign?

Long-story-short (I know, too late), I will continue to send books to CGC; that won't change. I just hope they read this and the countless comments the fans plaster all over every single social media post CGC makes reasonably asking for updates to this specific signing.  Come on, folks.  Throw us a bone.

    Dean,

Unfortunately, I cannot be understanding in this case.  Although I absolutely appreciate the complexities involved with coordinating a Canadian creator (Fabok) during an unscheduled lockdown, I cannot accept the same reasoning for books that have been in your care since November of last year and did not include Fabok.  I paid for a service that you did not provide (without adequate explanation) so now I am asking for a different service that you clearly CAN provide.

    How do we proceed?

    Hello,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, changes are no longer allowed on orders already submitted.  I am sorry that we cannot accommodate your request.  Due to the extremely high volume of submissions, it is no longer possible for us to divert valuable resources into locating and pulling orders already in house to make changes.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Message: Hello,
I would like to request that the following two books be moved from the Johns & Co signings to Jim Lee:
    1) Detective #1000 (CGC###)
    2) Justice League #1 (CGC###)
Considering how extensive these delays have been and how many additional signing opportunities (with these same creators) I've missed as a result of the delays, I don't think this is an unreasonable request. I am happy to create new submissions and email the PDFs to you.
    Thanks,

  6. Hi folks,

I was hoping to get some feedback from this great comic community.  I have a CGC 9.8 Action Comics #1000 (blank cover) that I want to submit for signatures, but since I can't choose more than one creator, I am forced to pick just one.  Who do I pick?  Here are my options.  The last three (in blue) are appearing at the same event.  I would do them all if I could.

    • Geoff Johns
    • Louise Simonson
    • Dan Jurgens
    • John Romita Jr

I grabbed the image below from Google for reference.

  7. If your primary concern is getting a lower grade then put your 9.8 back in the box.  I get that 9.8+ is everyone's default target, but I've always felt that the signature of someone who actually created the comics we spend so much time and effort collecting is worth more than whatever it says in the top left corner.  I was actually just talking to a friend today about a similar topic.  A 9.8 Bloodshot #1 isn't worth much, but to me, it was the first (and only) comic my father ever bought me.  We were at the Big Apple Comic Show (before if became NYCC) and Valiant was still a new company so the line to buy Bloodshot was short. I treasured that book.  We spent years going to shows tracking down the artists and writers and having them sign around the very cool gold foil. Then one day it rained a little too hard and a leaky roof destroyed my comic along with the handful of other books in my massive 15-book collection.  I've since bought a graded 9.8 Bloodshot #1 and plan on sending it the second someone that worked on it shows up for a Signature event, and if the grade goes down because of it, that's fine.  To me, the hobby of comic collecting is more about nostalgia and connecting with the artists/writers rather than the grade.  I don't even read these damn things.
