  1. Loved it. Rogue One is a completely different emotional theme than Force Awakens, and it should be. Rogue One begins a little slow, but by the end, i completely forgot about that. The last 5-10 minutes really felt like an emotional gut punch, and were incredibly well done. i went into this thinking i knew what would happen to most of the characters, and it still hit me hard. I really don't see any of the cameos as fan service, except for the dudes from the cantina...THAT'S fan service - having those dudes be on a completely different planet days before their appearance on Tantooine in ANH, and they just happen to be there on Jeddah. R2 and C3PO needed to be there, or else how would they have been on the ship with Leia 5 minutes after Rogue One is over? Leia NEEDED to be there. In ANH she has the plans that she just got from the rebels who stole them - Rogue One is a movie about stealing those plans. Tarkin NEEDED to be there. In ANH he is in command of the Death Star. So he needed to be in place there since this is the same timeline. The X-Wing pilots needed to be there too, since they are part of the rebel fleet at that time and this was an all out attack with the entire rebel fleet. I will say this - this wasn't a film for casual SW fans. That seems like a specific decision that was made. It's definitely not for kids the same way all the saga films are, and I would imagine that it is confusing for someone who just watches the main films and doesn't watch the TV shows or read comics. It's a bold move - because that is definitely gonna hurt it in the box office compared to The Force Awakens or the Marvel movies. BUT I think it makes for a better film. I think it will age well. This is the first time that comparisons to Empire Strike Back seem valid. ESB definitely didn't have as much mainstream appeal as ANH when it dropped. I remember as a little kid not liking it as much because it didn't end with the good guys "winning" or a big space battle like ANH. But by the time I was a teenage ESB was clearly my favorite.
  2. essentially, when the Rock showed up...
  3. or, as it should he called, The F8 of the Furious. Anyone looking forward to this? I have never seen one movie yet. i'm actually watching the first movie as i type this.
  4. i need someone on youtube to make a Will Smith and Viola Davis only version of this movie. Just show their scenes only. . okay, maybe a little more than that, but Will and Viola were the only true highlights for me, with a little Harley included, and maybe a scene or two of Jai Courtney.
  5. A friend of mine has already seen it and had this to say.
  6. it is disrespectful to Han Solo to compare him with the likes of a racist like John Wayne.
  7. Vulture looks pretty , but the rest of the trailer was good. i heard the Shocker is in this. if so, hopefully they do him justice.
  8. Lets not insult by comparing it to that wow. someone was seriously high when they created that.
  9. Interesting to say the least that Harrison Ford is back. He'll be 75/76 when the movie comes out. But hey, if it's good, i'll take it.
  10. wow. by the time it's released in Japan, Dr. Strange 2 will be in theaters in America I am really surprised that the domestic audience wasn`t that much bigger than Ant-Man? Really? What`s up with domestic audiences lately? It seems the international audiences are now a more important factor. Doctor Strange may have been one of the best Marvel movies to date, yet it barely beat Ant-Man domestically? Something`s up. It sure will be interesting now to see Logan`s domestic box office. you realize it's still playing domestically, correct? will surpass Ant-Man by $50MM. is that barely? It's at 197M right now, but only bringing in 5M a week, so in the long run, it might surpass Antman by 50M, but could be less than that, esp with Star Wars coming. it did $5MM+ yesterday Ahhh, you're right. my bad. 17M a week still.
  11. I almost forgot about that. I knew there was more than just the first movie that i liked.

  13. i just re-watched Antman and GOTG. Both were as good as i remembered them being when they came out.
  14. Hopefully it's better than all the previous movies. only the first Highlander was any good.
  15. Hulk? I blame it on Jane Foster & her entourage. I think Ragnarok will make believers of us all. You're right in that Hulk hasn't had a great movie, but i'll take the last Hulk movie over either Thor movie. I thought it was at least pretty good. I tried watching Dark World, and got so bored half way thru i gave up. The first Thor movie was okay. at least i was able to get thru both Hulk movies.
  16. Every superhero has had a great movie except Thor. Hopefully Ragnarok changes that.
  17. sounds great. hopefully, we no longer get goblin or even hobgoblin.
  18. Japan gonna bootleg this movie like crazy in the meantime.
  19. Also, i hope this has a FIRE soundtrack. Like, i'd love to hear D'Angelo, Maxwell, Common, De La, Beyonce and/or Solange, Q-Tip, Nas, The Roots, hell even Drake and Bruno Mars thrown in for more commercial appeal.
  20. This might be the best cast a marvel movie has ever had. They've also added Forest Whitaker to the cast. Now, i just need Denzel or Viola Davis! . Man, what a cast. One of the best black casts ever.

  23. Really good. Thoughtful. Well-structured. Beautifully shot by Bradford Young, obviously. Amy Adams may get some Oscar love here-- I wouldn't be mad. Loved the depictions of alien life/attempts at alien communication-- unlike most of what we usually see in these flicks. Denis stays rollin', man. Doesn't really top Sicario for me, but that -script was so aces. This is really strong too. They were, I think, intentionally vague about what help the aliens would need (could be natural resources unique to earth, could be the thought process of a species that thinks about time linearly...). But teaching us their language and ability to hop around time will make it much easier to communicate (and maybe help ensure that we haven't exterminated ourselves through nuclear war) when they return in 3000 years. humans can only "time travel" when they've fully understood the heptapod language... that is, when they've started to dream in it and are fully immersed in it. Adams was obviously the most well-versed but I get the feeling that her knowledge was even further advanced when she boarded the ship and could actually touch the ink. and it looks like she becomes the leading expert on the language in the near future but obviously not everyone gets the time-hopping ability because her husband is surprised by the daughter getting sick.
