  1. Should I use recent sales on Ebay instead? Because they are all higher than comicsgocollect. Feel free to ignore me
  2. Hopefully I'll never have to sell them. I'd like to pass them down to my daughter...shes 13 and is really beginning to enjoy reading my comics. I'm not looking to cash out...im just happy to get what I did before the prices went nuts.
  3. I bought books flea markets where you can make out the back cover completely on the board but I always figured that was from storing them in a basement or whatever. I only have around a thousand raw books and I change the bags/boards every 2 years or so...so no, I've not seen that with my books.
  4. ...and I have no clue what running the numbers and GPA mean. I dropped out in 11th grade...
  5. Those three books have not moved much in the last 4 weeks. TMNT fell from $1400 to $1250 NM 98 went up from $775 to $875 TWD 1 has been $1450 for months
  6. I use comicsgocollect for the FMV
  7. Last summer I started collecting graded copies of books from my childhood. I have 30 now and I've been tracking the FMV of this collection for the past 4 weeks on a week by week basis. I thought I'd post the results. It's 90% modern with a few BA. I won't disclose what's in this collection unless asked to but I will list the 3 most expensive. Walking Dead 1 9.6 TMNT 7 2nd print 9.8 NM 98 9.6 _________ 4/8/21 = $9,820 4/14/21 = $10,205 4/21/21 = $10,410 4/28/21 = $10,597 ----------------- Up $777.00 in 1 month
  8. Thanks for reading. Long story short...its getting pressed and graded. It was received on 12/3/20 and has been in "received" since then. Now the date has changed to today's date but still only as received. Does this mean it's been pressed and re-received for grading?
  9. Yeah...dont like the sound of that. I thought the propose of stabbing books was to freeze them in their current state. Cracking slabs isn't hard at all so I'm not sure how one would get damaged when handled by a pro.
  10. Wont surprise me when Marvel starts shipping new releases directly to CGC. I mean, when you pick up a new release at the shop, you're always under the impression it's a 9.8. How long is Marvel or the other comic/card companies gonna stand around and watch these potential new profits go to little guys on the net. Chit...maybe we will soon see the MGC...Marvel Grading Company. What I would do if I'm CGC is split into two services. Keep what they have now for books that are at least 5 years old. Start a new slab only service for books that came out in the past 5 years. In other words, refuse to grade books until theyre 5 years old but offer to slab them at a reduced price. This way they can dramatically improve TATs for everyone involved and you can still get your Negan Lives #1 into a nice shiny CGC case with everything but a grade. You can have it graded for a reduced price in 2025.
  11. Yeah...great...maybe if people didn't send in 200 books, that came out last week, to get graded...this chit wouldn't be happening. It's us that got greedy and swamped this little company with worthless books just to try and make a few bucks on Ebay Then we complain about TAT? Then we complain when they raise prices?
  12. Hey... I'd rather have the weekly reprints because they're black and white. If I buy Deluxe, it will mess with my OCD. See, the thing is...i don't even care if 4 through 10 are graded. I'm fine with buying raw copies. I figure that'd run me around 700.
  13. Happy wife / happy life? ... or screw it, I want my TWD collection! Sup guys. Long time TWD fan that keeps the DVDs on a constant loop. This drives my wife nuts but I do it anyway. A few months back I decided that I wanted the comic collection too. I stated browsing and buying and I'm soooooo close to having what I want but my wife is not as happy as I am and directed me to cease and desist my purchasing. At the time of her insane recommendation I had 11 through 193...first prints + #1 CGC 9.6 - #2 CGC 9.4 - #3 CGC 9.6 My plan was to also get 1, 2 & 3 in the weekly reprints for reading purposes and then finish getting 4 through 10 in first prints and be done. Instead...im forced to get 1 through 10 in weekly reprints. I feel unclean. I feel like a failure. Would you be happy with what I've collected or should I defy the evil woman and buy 4 through 10 in first prints and risk divorce or castration while asleep?
  14. The old guys are just bitter cause they didn't have the internet in the 70s 80s or 90s...there was also no CGC. This book can only go up in value from here. Same with ASM 252, ASM 300 and even NM 98. Sure, there are a ton out there but theyre not making anymore, boys ...and the world population is exploding. Don't listen to the bitter negativity Buy now or you'll be paying double in 6 months.
  15. I have a 9.8 with multiple spine bends that do not break color. I also have a WP book where the top of the pages are not white compared to the inside page color. Meh...
  16. I gotcha. It just struck me as funny. I pictured a couple guys sitting I'm a room waiting for a slabbed book to come through the dept...while everyone else is busting their hump grading books after book
  17. They have a department that opens slabs? That's all this dept does?
  18. I don't know who that is, bro. Don't know if I should be worried. There must be a good reason why CGC is the clear #1 option over the other fellas and I'm guessing it's cause the others went wrong somewhere.
  19. I've had good success selling on Ebay. Books sell fast when priced right. They gotta stop raising the fees though. That's prob the main reason sellers are over charging right now. EBay takes what?...13%? You almost gotta charge $700 for a $500 book
  20. Time is also money though and that's a lot of buying, hoping and selling. Also...Ebay selling fees are a menace!
  21. I was kind of hoping they took the current grade as a starting point. So...I sent in a 9.8 that was graded by the other company who's name also starts with a "C". Its a first gen slab and I thought it was time to get it out of there. How far off were they as far as grading back then, in your opinion? Should I be worried?
  22. I've done a few reslabs and they pump them out pretty fast compared to getting a book graded. How about a cross grade? Are they treated like a normal grading or is it faster because they have a grade to work with already ? Thanks
  23. This has nothing to do with me so why do I feel so nervous about it?
