Does anyone buy there? I probably haven't looked for 2 or 3 years, there are only 363 stores there now, which I don't think is much different then back then. Newkada has 168,000 listings and only seems to sell about 200 comics a month?

No idea. I just got to know about them recently because they have this app which would be a game changer to keep track of my (and many others I'm sure) collection.

The way prices are being adjusted (hourly for some) it would be difficult for any app to be accurate.

I would just like there to be prices. Many big keys even have no prices... My JLA1 6.0 has a value of $0.75 it says... yeah right.

If the prices are from last month or two months ago or even six months .. that would be more than good enough. Still it would allow us to track our collections fairly well, and we could then check individually if we wanted to sell or buy.

Here's the last book of the thread.
And it's a bit special. This is a little preview of my NEXT thread,  CATRICK'S CORNUCOPIA: **SUPER** BITTER DISAPPOINTMENTS

Everything in the (relatively) short thread will be low grade or incomplete Superman or Superboy appearances, including GA
Actions,  and plenty of 50's Actions, Supermans, Adventures, and Superboys.  ETA is some time toward the end of December.

    And to whet your appetite:

    Action Comics 71
    Coverless  Complete

First fold is looooaded with tape, see the scans. Small piece out last page, couple small pieces of tape on second page to boot.
Once you get past the first couple folds, interior is tight with offwhite - white pages, tending toward white further on in.

    Solid coverless reader for $40

    IgibhQh.jpg

    rBM4m9b.jpg

AC71 is one of those which actually come up for sale rather rarely

  4. I think it is a great idea.

It will make collecting and keeping track of one's collection and prices so much easier.

If it worked! unfortunately lots (maybe half) of the prices either don't exist or are inaccurate - even on keys.

That was regarding the scan feature which is the best part.

Regarding the sales there there seems to be a lot of scammers? Right now there is an IH181 7.5 up for sale for $1400. In general prices there seem like we were in 2010 now...

Well, here I am with my bimonthly report on the value of my collection. This is a LONG article, so you may want to go get a snack before you start reading.

So, according to GoCollect, the value of my collection increased 3.1% from the end of October to the end of December. According to GPAnalysis, for the same time period, the value of my collection increased 6.8%. In general, GPAnalysis usually shows a larger increase than GoCollect.

I think it is interesting when you compare these two companies together. Here are some examples:

    Amazing Spider-Man #4 CGC 3.5: GC 0.0% increase, GPA 22.4% increase

    Amazing Spider-Man #9 CGC 5.5: GC  5.0% increase, GPA 39.0% increase

Fantastic Four #5 CGC 2.5: GC 51.7% increase, GPA 0.0% increase

    Fantastic Four #6 CGC 3.5 (C-1): GC –0.8% decrease, GPA 56.3% increase

    X-Men #14 CGC 7.0: GC 8.0% increase, GPA –16.3% decrease

If I was to run a statistical analysis of the results from GC and GPA, I would imagine that there would be little, if any, correlation between the values.

I know some of you are thinking, “Why did he bother to do this?” As a former math teacher, I love working with numbers. This is a labor of love. I also hoped that it would generate some conversation. Perhaps you have seen some different trends than I have.

Just saw this. I have many of the same and it would be helpful if you could add $ :)

I suspected that textbook can be related to economy or marketing.  The top of the page said Determinants of an export price. Looked up under that line and found the definition:

Concept of Price of a Product – Defined:

In a modern money using economy, price refers to the exchange value of a commodity or service, in terms of money

Comic related movies and tv shows making books nobody gave two poops about into sudden "keys" for a brief time has unnecessarily annoyed me for a while. One current example is ASM Annual 16. Just because a character is in Wandavision now everyone has to own an issue that was regularly passed over at half price books not that long ago for the asking price of 50 cents.

Personally one that I find extra annoying is the first appearance of Harley Quinn. Maybe it's because it's a kids cartoony book and I don't remember anyone caring about it at all prior to the terrible Suicide Squad movie. I'm sure there is a core of DC collectors who legitimately valued that book before the movie blew it up, but it feels like a huge bandwagon book to me. Just my irrational opinion.

What movie based keys get you all riled up?

Pretty much all DC ones!!! hehehe....... except Batman. The rest has been horrible use of great material. I almost hope Marvel buys the rights to all DC comincs just so we can get some good movies. I'm exaggerating, but its along those lines.

Have you read both Hawkman's GA and SA origins? Going from reincarnated Egyptian prince to Thanagarian Alien Police Officer is a pretty big change lol

Sure they have similar looks and powers, but they definitely do NOT have similar backstories.

Ok, I give you the backstories, but they do have similar looks and powers - something which is not the case for the two entirely different superheroes named the Atom. I don't think people would think the two versions of Hawkman are entirely different superheroes if they were told their powers and saw them side by side. Then they would just think they were different incarnations of basically the same superhero (like the Flashes). That is not the case, I argue, for Atom. Put them side by side and people would, correctly, assume that they are entirely different.

There's a difference between "first SA appearance of ..." and "first appearance of SA ..."

Calling it the first SA Atom is the same as calling it the first Atom (Ray Palmer), to differentiate it from a previously existing character with the same name. Ray Palmer is the SA Atom and Al Pratt is the GA Atom, regardless of them not sharing a basic concept like the different Green Lanterns and Flashes.

I agree, but my point is that whereas the flashes are very similar and have very similar powers.... the superhero called Atom in the SA is just very different from the superhero called Atom in the GA.

So the flashes are basically just another persona inhabiting roughly same powers, uniform etc. Not so at all with Atom.

  10. 2 minutes ago, Ken Aldred said:

The SA versions tended to be more science-fiction orientated reboots of GA characters, true for Atom, Green Lantern and Hawkman.  Fresh starts, new characters.

Green Lantern and Hawkman as far as a know have similar backstories at least and similar looks.

Atom is just a completely different superhero.

  11. Avengers 4 is the first in SA. Just like Showcase is the first Flash in SA.

Which bring me to a pet peeve. I don't think it's useful to call Showcase 34 the first appearance of "SA Atom", because the term first SA- is usually used when a GA hero makes a come-back in the SA. for example, when Captain America comes back in Avengers 4.

For the superhero that appears in Showcase 34 (called Atom) - this is not the first in the SA, rather its the first ever. It just confuses things that there happened to be a superhero in the GA with the same name. But these should not be confused as they are two entirely and unrelated superheroes.

As such, Showcase 34 features the first ever appearance in any age of this superhero.
