  1. CoC 23 cgc 6.0 (looked great for the grade) sold for $2400 in the Clink auction tonight. Seems those sales on HA were not outliers. The book is a PCH key now.
  2. Cheers. I'm biased but I really can't see why it isn't more coveted. A classic IMO and one of Reed Crandall's best covers.
  3. I use it interchangeably to mean: 1. if discussing a particular copy, rare in the grade shown; or 2. if talking generally about a tough book to mean hard to find in high grade. I hope that people can tell from context which I am using. Examples: 1. *Someone shows me a 7.0 copy of Horrific 3* I might then say: 'Wow, such a cool book, and impossible in grade too!' 2. *I am talking with another collector about 'The Man from planet X'* I might say: 'damn that book is tough in grade!'
  4. Top loaders - you can purchase through hotflips - https://www.hotflips.com/catalog/top-loaders
  5. I like both books. But I'd give the lead to Contact 12 (but not by much).
  6. Fire and Blast is a new one for me. Very cool. I assume it is a difficult issue to find?
  7. Provided there are no stains or NCB creases not visible in the scan.
  8. Captain America Comics 74 - not nearly as rare as everyone thinks and the cover is lame. I don't get the appeal.
  9. You always have the coolest stuff. What do people think of Battle Cry 1? The hammer and sickle on the commies' hand is such a cool/odd touch (not my copy):
  10. I did search but couldn't find a similar thread. I was just wondering what people's top atomic era war covers were? I assume War Comics 11 is at the top of most lists but what else is good?
  11. 'Digital comic books are coming.'??? Digital comic books are well and truly here.
  12. This one is even funnier as it original sold quite recently on ebay for $6306: http://www.ebay.com/itm/George-Herriman-Original-Comic-Strip-Art-Krazy-Kat-Ignatz-w-Cop-SKOA-1930s/311919742387?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
  13. So true Though I would bet most of us have stories of gambles that paid off.
  14. Second Highest graded, Whitman cover, and two dames in peril for the price of one.
  15. Wings 1 with the swastika on the tail fin must be one of the earlier nazi war covers being a 1940 issue. Greatbooks Robot Man.
  16. Nice copies too. Great taste. Boy Comics with Iron Jaw covers are on my list of themes to start collecting.
