Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
BoogieWoogie replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
True, but I was thinking at the equivalent grade when I wrote that. Unfortunately that isn't what I said. But I was comparing a 1.0 ASM 1 to a 1.0 GRR and a 9.8 ASM 1 (!!!) to a 9.8 GRR. Sloppy writing on my part. -
Did anyone participate in the 10/26 signing event - John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, Starlin, Milgrom, David, Adams, .etc? My submission is still in received, but I did opt for pressing as well.

Anyone bought from Beatlebluecat on eBay?
BoogieWoogie replied to LordRahl's topic in Comics General
There are also some collectors that are against slabbing and they can sometimes still have very very nice books Overall you just need to be more careful. Catching a listing ten minutes before it ends is a roll of the dice with raw books it's worth your time to survey the landscape if you're buying something expensive or a big key -
Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
BoogieWoogie replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Nothing is "wrong" with it per se, it's a 9.0 of the Golden Records Reprint, not ASM #1. Both very, very nice books but ASM #1 is worth 30-300x more depending on the grade -
Anyone bought from Beatlebluecat on eBay?
BoogieWoogie replied to LordRahl's topic in Comics General
Very late but no, you can find great deals buying raw books off of Ebay you just have to find a reputable seller that isn't juicing their listings. I think CGC estimates in the listing are shady, generally, but a VF/NM designation is fine. Just make sure there are plenty of pictures and ask for more if need be. I found a seller with really nice wares that will probably yield a lot of very high grade books. They're priced fairly, though a bit on the high side for big lots, and he doesn't seem to know to list all the key issues in the title so some end up going well below FMV. So there are great sellers on Ebay you just need to do your due diligence. -
Wow that Lee cover is incredible!

If Venom can keep holding down solo films and ongoing monthlies then it's going nowhere but up for quite some time... If not...

My submission also disappeared from my account very briefly but it is showing up again now. I downloaded my submissions so that I have a copy of my submission number but it looks to be a momentary flub

Silver age comics that are heating up
BoogieWoogie replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
IMO Daredevil has long been way undervalued and super underpriced when compared to the other major Marvel heroes that debuted around that time. Daredevil's Netflix show was popular and IMO, again, it's the first successful adaption of the character. I think DD has a lot of room to grow but that's all speculation. For me at least I've got more than rumors about a cameo in mind, I think DD could be bigger than ever in the coming decades. Could be wrong though -
Silver age comics that are heating up

I'm getting in on Daredevil personally. Probably lower upside but way lower buy in too. I can actually maybe pick up the first Daredevil appearance in 2021. Maybe. -
Silver age comics that are heating up
BoogieWoogie replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
They announced the director for their Fantastic Four film... probably won't drop until 2023 and we probably won't hear too much more until maybe this time next year but get ready for everything FF to heat up until then... -

What are your 2021 collecting goals?
BoogieWoogie replied to Gotham Kid's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I want to unload all of my Amazing Spider-Man duplicates, first and foremost. Should be able to get that done but we'll see. I'm at 320/441 of Amazing Spider-Man vol 1 so I want to continue to fill gaps here and there but there are only 2 major key goals for 2021... Amazing Spider-Man 14 and DareDevil 1 Not sure I'll be able to get both of those done next year but I'm saving my nickels... -
How much did you end up picking this up for if you don't mind me asking?
-
There are hundreds of thousands of this book floating around but this one is mine. Or, well, the nicer of my two copies. Might post my reader some time as I'm also curious about learning to grade books on the lower side of the scale too. Anyway Thoughts? I do plan on getting this pressed and cleaned when I eventually get it graded if it matters
-
Definitely. Most everything else that came with this one was also very clean but the copy of Spider-Man versus Wolverine unfortunately had a big fingerprint on the cover that had removed some ink. No spine ticks though I just got in the Amazing Spider-Man lot I mentioned earlier and the copy of ASM194 is seriously disappointing. The seller specifically mentioned this particular issue was a very high grade copy but it has significant color rub on the cover. I'd be surprised if it could fetch any higher than a 7.0, if that
