  1. You really don’t want to know what happened to most of my father’s collection while he was drafted to go to war in Vietnam. Ok you do, my grandfather used them to stuff up some leaky water pipes. Sucks - But yeah they weren’t as big of a deal then as they are now, so they were just like old newspaper back then.
  2. Well that book is not in my collection anymore, so it doesn’t hurt to look at.
  3. @kav My cost for college was 1000 a semester including the Dorm, and food card. I had a wrestling scholarship that helped with the school books, and dorm cost. The AF 15 was my Father’s Copy that he handed down to me, so that hurt the most as he’s gone now.
  4. Would have almost covered the semester back then.
  5. I did, and Didn’t go that way with the campus police. Didn’t have a receipt for proof of purchase, or ownership back then. 🙁 Nowadays, at least you can record items on the internet ( CGC registry, etc ) that could prove you own the item.
  6. I wish, but unfortunately my college dorm roommate back in 1989 stole it, and sold it to a LCS in the area for $100 when he dropped out of college ... It then became an $800 wall book in the store back then, and was out of my reach to get it back. 😒 another lesson, never carry your prized books with you to college
  7. You don't even want to know about the demise of my AF#15
  8. So is the problem the Sig? Still it's witnessed by CGC, Very Nice!! I traded away my ASM #1 in my younger days, for a complete set of Nova But according to BitcoinSwami, all is going to pay out for me soon!
  9. Right!, My wife tried to do something really nice for me trusting dealers, and their wall books. Yeah not in the hobby, and completely was taken advantage of Don't know who the dealer was, but this shouldn't have been a wall book.. Anyway its a lesson why people need to know what they're getting.. Also a blessing that CGC is around to help those who don't.
  10. So Anyway my wife will not buy any raw comics for me now, just CGC graded as raw untrusted. 😃 and really doesn’t like or trust dealers at conventions anymore.. so we don’t go to many nowadays, especially out of state. My advice-Check your books, and know the item you’re purchasing before buying. Anyone else want to share a sad tale, or book that doesn’t belong?
  11. Well everyone has at least 1 book in their collection (In my case way more), where every time you see it you just want to replace-upgrade it because it's got a heartbreaking tale, or just a copy that has unknown flaws at the time of purchase behind it, but it's still there in your collection...many years later. So here is the top on my list Amazing Spider-Man #12 Looks pretty good right? Well about 17 years ago, My Wife at her first Comic Convention with me, broke away purchased this Wall book from a dealer at the show. The comic labeled VF++-off white to white pages- for around $120 to surprise me when we got home with this gift.. She was proud, knowing that I needed that issue, I was ecstatic to receive this book...Then I examined it....
  12. Really I’ve got reading to catch up now....
  13. .....But not a handful from strangers on Halloween.. only fresh bags. 😉
  14. Without the smooth coating. 👍
  15. You missed out on the very powdered bubble gum ones, but I did prefer the chalky ones myself. They lasted longer. 👍
  16. Yeah, sure... anything that makes my collection worth more.
