  1. So has anyone received what they purchased ? Ive only got an unread pm Forget it, he's a deadbeat. He is on the probation list where he belongs. What gets me is he spent a lot of time smearing 2 other boardies before he did this. I will take my lumps for not seeing he was a potential problem. It's understanding that people run into problems once in a while. That much can be forgiven. But to not ship books originally, come on here and say he'll take care of everything and then turn around and not ship the books again is truly unforgivable. +1 Like Shark say's we all get sidetracked with personal krap, it happens. But one thing has nothing to do with another. Its not hard to put books in the mail. These boards have helped many a people out over the years, and I'm sure would have helped here to if there was a problem. I really hope everyone gets their stuff. DRX
  2. I've had that book for thirty years at least. I can remember exactly where I bought it and the price. Just wouldn't be right to let it go. It's like one of the family. DRX
  3. This is one of my favorite covers. I'm surprised it didn't do better in the cover contest. I have a really nice copy of this one too. I'm dropping it off for on-site sub at Wizard Chicago with some other stuff. I'm hoping it comes back 7.5 or better. O.K. I edited my post and threw a scan of it in. I know most of you guys arlready seen this book, but I figured I might as well throw it up one more time before slabbing it. DRX
  4. I just talked to Chris and he doesn't remember a strike either. I stand corrected, but I thought he got a week off for profanity. DRX
  5. Well, I have had people tell me to mind my own business through P.M.s after pointing out a potential problem with a new member. You point something out and run the risk of people saying your picking on someone, give him a chance etc. Hope this works out, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt. DRX
  6. I just looked in the strike record and I dont see it listed in there . I am going to contact Chris who was on also when this went down. I'm almost positive he got a one week vacation. Here's some of the aftermath discussion in this thread. DRX http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4156105&fpart=1
  7. I wish I would have saved some of the posts from that first thread. I didn't think it was going to get yanked so quick. He just joined and his first post was a sales thread claiming he had 250 long boxes of books he needed to sell right now. I think the books were also on Craig List. I think he was asking what he should be selling these for per box. A few boardies were telling him to read the rules and post some pics and scans. He got hot under the collar quick and started some smart-azz comments. It got yanked before the real fun started. DRX
  8. The red flag for me was when he first started posting, claiming he had 250 boxes of books he needed to sell RIGHT NOW . He then got all pizzed up when some boardies told him to read the rules and he said he wasnt about to grade every book, scan it and post it. That thread started dissapearing in a matter of minutes and got yanked. Could have been a record for a newb.I thought he had recieved a strike but was mistaken. Just my though. He could be legit. DRX
  9. Why would you purchase books, thinking you may have money coming. Hope this gets resolved. DRX
  10. That's how it happens sometimes. Just got to be at the right place at the right time. Good score. (thumbs u DRX
  11. I was looking at that book last night...............and drooling. Man thats a nice copy of that issue. I always loved the cover. DRX
  12. What an interesting show. I cant stop listening to this. I love when he talks about Danny Cupcake in part 2. Trimming baseball cards? I remember Sparkle City well. They always had a huge booth right when you walked in the door at the Chicago Con. They would always have multiple high grade copies of just about everything, and had it all organized very well. DRX
  13. It almost makes me want to quit and come back..., Is there any way you can make certain people leave and not come back? DRX
  14. I cant wait until I have the time to listen to this. Sparkle City was always one of the first dealers I would stop at from the old Chicago Comic Con. They always brought just a ton of high grade books with them. I always wondered what happened to them. I'll find out soon enough. DRX
  15. +1 I personally think 10 days is plenty of time to complete a transaction and giving people 30 is way too generous. Just my opinion though. How hard is it to put books in the mail. Out him. DRX
  16. I run across of few of those now and then. The don't pop up that often but are cool. Glad someone found something over the weekend. DRX
  17. At least with carbonite I may wake up. With her the odds would be zero. I should have snapped a pic on my cell phone but the mods would have yanked the whole thread immediately and banned me for life' DRX
  18. Nothing, I was escorted off the property. DRX At least she didn't try to feed you to the Rancor. You should have known your Jedi mind tricks wouldn't work on her! I'd rather take a chance on the Rancor than dealing with her. As I was going back to my truck the only thought in my mind was " would Dice X hit it." DRX
  19. Did you at least get to keep the Astonish/Suspenses? Nothing, I was escorted off the property. DRX
  20. I frequent a huge flea-market in Cedar Lake on Sunday's. Last Sunday I was talking to a dealer who had some Sci-Fi mags on his table. He asked me " Are you interested in comics". Yeah what do you have. He took me around to the back where there were some storage sheds. Opened up the shed and Whamo. It looked like Mason Jar boxes packed with books up to the ceiling. Lots of them. I told him " this is going to take some time to go through." No problem he said, take your time. Says he bought them from a strorage locker aution. Now this property is run by a couple who have a house in the front. It just so happened the guy I was talking to was the owner. So its 90 degrees out as I start to look through box after box. I'm sweating ing bullets and he's watching me asking me all kinds of questions. Each box had about fifty books. All unbagged. All with badly torn covers, pieces missing, chunks out. They were mostly 12 and 15 centers with a few 10 centers here and there. Just terrible shape. I got down to the bottom box on one row and found a few decent Astonish and Suspense that were salvagable. I started making a small pile and he continued to talk. O.K, I have been in there sweating for over and hour looking through box after box when his wife zoooms up in a golf cart. She runs the flea market every weekend and drives this cart around to make sure everythings in order. She looks like Jabba the Hut with long red hair and red lipstick bouncing around in the golf cart. Anyway, she pulls up and starts chewing this guys azz out nine ways to Sunday. " You gonna stay back here all day". W-T-F is going on. Now I'm trying to stay out of it. " He has to buy everything or nothing, no cherry picking". I told her the guy said they were his books. He then started stuttering saying " Well everything thats mine is hers to. I told him if you wanted to sell the whole shot why didnt you just say something instead of me wasting my ing morning looking through ripped up krap. She slammed the shed door shut and off she went. I'm lucky I made it out alive. DRX
  21. Now I have to go pull my copy out and read it again. And again, and again. DRX
  22. I used to own that book when it was raw. I found Groot's brother. He shows up after the cat fight. DRX
