  1. Absolutely. Eternals looked like it might be an interesting trainwreck. And even if it was going to be bad, it looked visually pretty. Possibly fun. The actual movie ranked above trainwreck. This movie? There is just nothing (except like I said, possibly the Catwoman character)
  2. This movie might be fine. But man, the previews that I have seen so far have done precisely zero to build up any level of interest or anticipation. It's like, yeah, that sure is a guy in a Batman suit. And it sure looks dark and gritty. And there are some cars and explosions. The only thing that looks slightly interesting is Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Hard to remember a (major) comic book-themed movie I was less interested in before it opened. Still going to see it, of course. I'm a movie whore.
  3. Yes, sure. But also, one who has already gone through this trial and error stage could choose to share their learned wisdom. That is a thing that one could do. That is, I gather, what some of these youtube people are doing, but the different people are also giving out wildly differing advise as to how to do it, leading to the confusion. I do appreciate that someone who has put in the time and effort to learn proper technique might not want to simply give away their valuable learned wisdom for free, especially a professional. I also appreciate that different books, of different eras, with different defects may require different techniques. So there isn't going to be a "one size fits all" answer. But it's not a silly question to ask.
  4. Well, you know for months MyComicShop has been selling the Masters of the Universe preview pages that were included in numerous DC titles back in the 80s. These have been removed and slabbed separately and have received Blue label 9.8 grades from CGC.
  5. I'm not even going to try and answer this, but I will say that I believe that the questions you are asking are the questions the Marvel people want you to be asking. The entire point of that end credit teaser is to make people go "wait, what? Who? How?" And then....build anticipation for when we get our answers later. I have to believe, naive person that I am, that the Marvel people have some explanation in mind already. Because on paper it makes no sense. Will it be a good explanation? No idea, and frankly, I have doubts. But there will be some kind of explanation forthcoming. If I was a guessing man, it's going to be something like, well, you see, there's this whole other branch of Eternals that the Celestials created for some other purpose. I mean, they like experiments, yes? And maybe the Marvel people will hew somewhat closer to the actual Eternals comic origins and say these particular Eternals were genetically modified beings who evolved independently afterwards (as opposed to being "constructs" designed for a singular purpose). Maybe they were the early experiments? And Thanos had some Deviant genes mixed in with his other genes which kinda sorta explains his difference there? Just spitballing here.
  6. It is a somewhat interesting insight into the mentality of such people. They justify to themselves what they are doing because they imagine that the people they are trying to scam actually deserve it. And they "need" the money more than you need your "worthless" comic book. It becomes a class/elitist thing in their minds. I mean, it's complete ********, and they would undoubtedly scam someone with barely any money at all if opportunity arose and they could get away with it, and justify that under some completely different rationale, like stupid people don't deserve their money either, or, "it's not a lot and I'm not really hurting anyone", but still interesting.
  7. The actual Celestials ARE diverse (I think). I think the one who was deaf was really deaf in the comics, etc. The movie was actually staying true to the comic characters in that sense, and not just "checking boxes." The issue is/was that the Eternals didn't make a whole lot of sense with the backstory that they completely made up for this movie.
  8. No, it didn't really make sense, when they modified the Eternals origins to be this, that that Celestials who "created" them would bother to create Eternals with disabilities. Or one who was perpetually a child even. My suspicion, is that they made this change to the Eternals to allow for the possibility of having Eternals who "died" in this movie be resurrected for later films. Which it seems like they could do if they were all just constructs anyway. But maybe there was something else to it. Like, there must have been a reason. Maybe someone thought thematically it would be more impactful for a group of "constructs" to find their humanity, as opposed to it being just another race of alien beings deciding to rebel against their masters because they liked Earth people. But if that was it then the message fell very flat. They kind of would have had to know they were constructs from the beginning in that case.
  9. My thought is that you can probably list a lot of books for sale in the relevant forum - Silver/Bronze or Mixed. But you will need to put a price on the lot, you can’t just say “make me an offer.” And if you aren’t giving people pictures, and you’re not giving them a list of what is actually in the lot, than you are not likely to get many, if any bites for something like this. Edit: apparently there must be a scan. But I know I’ve seen sales threads where the “scans” were of a group of books-not each individually, and even scans where the books were partially covering each other so you actually couldn’t see the whole book. But an estimated grade for said book was still listed.
  10. What are people even arguing about here? Whether this was a good movie or not? (that is what is known as a matter of opinion). Or whether it was a financial success or not? (it earned quite a bit of money, and yet underperformed hopes/expectations based on budget) There. Everyone can go home now.
  11. That article seems to say that shill bidding is illegal is Texas. Just maybe not an auction house bidding on their own offerings (presumably with the desire to win them, in that event).
  12. Shill bidding is one thing (bad), but shill bidding with the inside house knowledge of what another bidder's "hidden" max bid is has to be illegal, right? Is it just that no one can actually "prove" that last part, and it's just assumed from highly suspicious bidding activity?
  13. You say that, but I count FOUR people, yes FOUR, who suspiciously got it exactly right. Hmmmmmmmm? Also, people who were only 1 grade off were clearly just trying to be sneaky and not be TOO obvious by hitting it dead on. Clearly the only fair thing is to disqualify all those scores.
  14. You know, guys, it is not required to take the entire time. You could, like, send in your answers now even. And then, we could have the results tomorrow! Instead of 6 hours after the deadline on Sunday....
  15. Last book I'm putting up today which I was considering for the Perez signing, but which would need to grade very high to even be in consideration. I always loved this cover. And this book looks practically unread with great colors. The issue I spotted is along the far edge, some kind of markings? I don't think it's the foxing a lot of my books have, but it's something. Again, I have no idea what kind of a hit to the overall grade this might represent. Thanks for looking!
  16. Second book I'm putting up in consideration for sending to the Perez signing, but which would need to grade very high to even be in consideration. I have a Wonder Woman 1 that looked like a great candidate, until I found a frigging puncture mark in the back cover from I have no idea where. So I'm looking at the other Perez Wonder Woman books I have. I know this book already missed it's peak with the less-than-stellar performance of the second Wonder Woman movie, but still might have some value? Especially if signed? I thought it looked pretty good, but it does have what looks like a bent staple. I'm not 100% sure it didn't come this way, or how bad that actually is. Appreciate any opinions!
  17. In my continuing quest to find books in my collection to potentially send to the Perez signing, I'm reaching books that I believe would need to grade real high to be even a little justifiable. And I just don't have all that many books from my childhood that have held up to that degree. But I got this one, and I got my hopes up because upon initial examination it seemed very high grade. And then I noticed the (foxing?) spots. Right on the spine at the bottom. The rest seems like it could clean up great, but I have absolutely no idea how much of a hit to the overall grade a defect like this would be, so I'm coming to you guys for opinions. Got a couple other potentially high grade books I am putting up in other threads, also with hard-to-quantify issues and I'd appreciate any opinions on those books as well. I'm obviously running up against the deadline to submit. Thanks for looking!
  18. Heh, am I the only one who thought the Master looked higher graded than the Whiz comic? I thought structurally they were both pretty good looking, but the Whiz just seemed a little more worn/faded. And I even thought the B&B could possibly be a 9.8, but there wasn't a lot of percentage in guessing that.
  19. And here I was going to say I thought it could maybe get to 8.5 with a clean/press. You guys are just way too hard!
  20. I missed the fact you could even go negative. Now that's just mean.
  21. Some people think that unless the book is in the top X% of graded books then it isn't a good investment (because, I guess, of the amount of books that are higher graded). I can't remember what that X% is, and it's probably different for different people anyway. But certainly for a lot of modern books at least, where the X% is slanted heavily towards the top, the only significant "value" is going to be in the 9.8 grade because of how many there are.
