  1. Of all the random comics I am finding going through my old stuff, this is not one younger me would have anticipated becoming collectable in the distant future. I was not a Transformers kid, and this appears to be the only Transformers comic I ever bought. Still, seems like it has held up well. The corners look particularly nice, baring what looks like some kind of very small impact on the back cover top left. Cover colors might also be a bit faded? Hard for me to judge. Appreciate any opinions!
  2. Thanks for the grades! I don't suppose anyone has an opinion on whether this particular comic could be improved with a pressing and/or cleaning of some type? I imagine those black smudges on the front and back pages can't be fixed.
  3. Up next I have my Avengers Annual 10. This one doesn't seem too bad. Small scuff on the mid. spine and a few other small spine ticks. Corners are not too bad. Thanks for looking!
  4. Here's my second Avengers 196. This one is better centered and doesn't have the small tear at the top corner, but instead has a large crease in the bottom left cover. Also, maybe because it's better centered, there are multiple visible spine ticks. Also has some kind of staining (fingerprints?) to the inside front and back covers. Is that something that you think could be cleaned? Thanks for looking!
  5. So, I have recently reacquired my childhood/teenage years comic book collection and I've been slowly going through it to see what there is to see. What I mainly see is a lot of "I really should have taken better care of this..." but, ah well. Still, there are a lot of memories here and maybe some books that still have some value. I'm going to try posting some of these over the next few days. Main questions are (1) Strictly from a "value" perspective, are any of them worth getting CGC graded; and (2) could they be improved with a pressing and/or cleaning? I have a twofer today. My two copies of Avengers 196, both with significant (but different!) defects. This one I think is the somewhat nicer one. Has maybe a 1/8" - 1/4" tear in the top left corner and some assorted creasing. Also some kind of ink transfer/staining/mold to the first and last pages? Thanks for looking! (I don't know why some of these pictures are being duplicated. I didn't upload more than one image. Can't figure out how to fix it though)
  6. After cataloging, looks like I've got about 1850 comics from my childhood/teenage years. Takes up about 9 long boxes. Majority of these are from 1980-1985, with a few older things. Basically nothing after 1987.
  7. Thanks for posting all of these. It's really fascinating seeing the books come back graded.
  8. Hello! Just discovered these forums. I collected back in the day when I was a kid. Early to mid-80s. Had no idea what I was doing. Then I went to college out of state and never moved back home again. So my collection sat in my childhood bedroom closet for about 30 years, until my mom decided to sell her house and basically told me I needed to come and get it, or it was going out to the curb. So, get it I did. Going back through this stuff has been such a joy for me. Even though I have to cry a bit on the inside at all the "what might have beens" had I known a bit more then - like, what series I *should* have been buying , and particularly about the proper way to store it all. Still, it makes me happy to have them again. A bit of research suggests I don't own anything that's going to allow me to retire, but I do have some okay books. Not sure if anything is worth getting CGC graded or not. I might put some pics in the "please grade my books forum" for fun. Hope to see you around!
