  1. Greetings all... Excited to join the club! I just picked up X-men #94. Mid grade. 5.0 - WHITE pages! Picked it up from another comic book group but got great advice and a nudge from @Wolverinex whom I met in one of Fool Killer's sales... (of course he beat me to a Silver Surfer #1!). He also suggested I post the book in this thread as I also had some questions for you experts: 1. It was graded a 5.0, but man I think it got a bad reviewer on a bad day, it looks like a 6 or 7 to me. So curious to hear what you all think it is. 2. Should I crack it, to get it cleaned and pressed (I have a great local guy who's done magic for my books). Grader notes are, "moderate creasing to cover" and "moderate spine stress lines to cover". 3. Can anyone tell if this book has been previously pressed? I think I can see evidence that it hasn't based on this bottom right corner shadow of a bend that if it had been pressed, wouldn't be here. Alrighty, have at it. Look forward to seeing what folks here say and super stoked to be part of the club! Oh, and in case folks are wondering... I paid $1250, shipped about a week or so ago. Initial asking was $1400. Maybe a touch high for the time, but worth paying a little extra for WHITE pages, imho and also still under high's of +$1500 that mid grades of this book have been hitting.
  2. This is a really nice 7.0. I have a 9.2 of this and this 7.0 shows just as well.
  3. Hey All - lifelong collector, first time board member. Totally digging this community. Would love to get feedback from you all. Cheers, -phil-
  4. Just got my books from the VCC sales thread. Packed. Like. A. Pro! Slab was minty fresh and raw's exceeded my expectations. NM's for sure, strong 9.8 candidates...
  5. Nice pick-up... I was almost there last night. Had to sleep on it and came on just now to see if it was still available. Unsurprisingly someone claimed it. Congrats to seller and buyer.
  6. Michael - I'm a fairly new member to these boards, but I've been collecting comics since the 90's. This thread is just showing to me why this passion of comics unites us. In dark times we turn to these stories that uplift us, and were lifted even that much more when we share it with others. Others with shared histories. I too, like yourself and others in this community that have commented, have lost my mother to cancer. My sincere condolences and happy to see that there's this community here for you to find some solace in.
  7. ok cool, when are you starting up again?
  8. That was cool. I was catching up on the pages... Did I miss the Giant Size X-Men?
  9. Sincere thank you to Bird & Number 6 for the objective perspective. Mijal - please accept my sincere apology for the misunderstanding. Cheers to you all and have a great weekend.
  10. Ultimately I think this is the crux of it. Semantics matter here. I made the literal definition of an inquiry. I asked, "would you do $450 including shipping?" That's an inquiry. Show me where I said, "and if so, I'll TAKE it"... Now, if the general accepted assumption in these boards is that "would you do $450 including shipping?" is to be interpreted as an offer, well then forgive me, mea culpa I genuinely did not know that was the short hand here. Hence I am sincerely asking this community for guidance. The semantics I have picked up on for purchasing books here is "Claim" "Take" and that "I'll take it Emjoi".... which I really want to stress in these posts above, I never once did. Also, if asking for what's your best price is also poor form on these boards then duly noted. Generally that's how many exchanges for any kind of person to person commerce is done. But will refrain from that to maintain the high bar community standard of comic book lovers that I have found these forums to be. I don't go after praises and kudos but I've done a number of transactions that have all gone smoothly with a lot of longstanding members here in my short time that I've been a member and hope to continue to do so in the future.
  11. I am genuinely curious on how this was an improper exchange on my part. I inquired about a price that Mijael would take, and he interpreted that as a claim or "I'll take it" which I never did. When I asked to hang a sec he got really upset and reports me to this board? That seems a bit irrational to me. And now, mischaracterizing my honest statement of consulting a friend on the purchase as if I was trying to flip it? Come on, that is not what I was doing at all. I'm a collector, not a speculator. Not here looking to make a fast buck at all, here because I love comics and have been collecting for over twenty years... just new to these boards... In any event, I believe this exchange stands as not a testament to me as a buyer, but to Mijael as a seller... Buyer Beware... he is a very difficult person to work with. Glad I was on the fence about this purchase as who knows what other shenanigans could have happened down the road if he's pulling this kind of stuff on these boards.
