  1. He's changed the image of an official comic and derogated the comic and the Marvel brand. It's like someone changing the coke tag line to 'In Coke we intrust' and making money off it.. you think the Coke laywers would let that slide? Edit - .. well to be fair.. I guess we'll find out. I'm not sure they'll follow it up, but if I were Black Flag I would be sweating right about now.
  2. I would be interested to know if anyone can spot any of his models.. Katie Perry as Selina Kyle is an obvious one... but what about Rosie Marcel as Zantana
  3. @Disco Stu Massive staining on that book would make it an ideal candidate for a bath I'd hazard. But wowzers! Do not attempt that yourself, send that to to a pro and be prepared for 1) risk of ruin 2) a decent sized bill.
  4. On the edge of the Bronze Age.. Machine Man Vol 2.. it was hard for me to pick just one of the four covers from this mini series.. but I'm going to plump for #2. Some of Barry Windsor-Smith's best work done on these books in my opinion, the writing didn't quite meet the level of the art, but it's an entertaining read nonetheless. I'm fond of Machine Man and wish they had utilised the character more.
  5. Thank you very much for the reply. It'll be difficult to sell in good faith so I think I might just pop this book alongside the 1st and 2nd prints in a frame on the wall :)
  6. Hey there lovely experts! Please would you grade my Incredible Hulk 377 3rd print. I hunted down the 3rd print of #377 a few years ago, after I stumbled across a 2nd print and realised (25years after buying the 1st print) that I loved the cover. It just catches my imagination as an iconic image of Banner 'hulking out'. However finding the 3rd print in a price that wasn't simply far more than I'd ever spent on a comic before, was tough. It took me months, the book pictured was eventually found and ordered and was shipped to the UK from Italy, it wasn't quite that simple however, as it took over two months for the postal system to deliver it, by which time I'd claimed a refund from the seller, just as I was giving up hope I'd ever see the book it arrived, I repaid the seller minus delivery costs and was happy. So I've cleaned and pressed it and it presents well. It has a few small spine ticks and two more serious issues which 'hide well' upon presentation: 1) There's a 9mm tear at the bottom of the spine 2) The bottom staple has popped through the cover leaving it detached So in your experience what would these two issues do to the grade?
  7. $455 for those books! I'm thinking buyer now has a hangover and a dose of buyers remorse.
  8. I would imagine that 9.2 old label would be getting bids from people looking at potential grade bump. Both awesome books which I'm a long way away off from owning. That Steranko/Severin cover is one of the best in my humble opinion.
  9. I read up on the whole Lichenstein swipe thing a couple of years ago and while I appreciate his art and how he brought comic books into a wider audience's living room walls, I can't help but now consider him a bit of a chancer, who did good. Fair play to him, he made some money, but I do feel that the books he copied (and there is no doubt that most of the famous ones are direct scale up's from comics) should be equally lauded and paraded as the source material they are. I hope that art teachers and historians around the world know of and the tale.
  10. Thank you very much for the responses. I shall keep it bagged and boarded and enjoy the silly cover for what it is
  11. Hi everyone, I'm struggling to be optimistic with this book.. on the one side (front cover) it's decent.. clean and presents well. However on the back cover, it appears to be a different book! (not literally).. with discolouration and staining (it appears only one small area of the staining has gone through to the inside pages (rear top left). I don't know what this would do to the book grade wise, or whether to bother sending it for encapsulation, hence advice sought from the experts.. Where do you think this would end up?
  12. WE3 was a great little three issue arc, defo worth picking up. It probably doesn't count as 'less heralded', more akin to getting lost in the history books, but 'Transmetropolitan' was a 60 issue series and is a must read. I'm pretty sure you could pick it up for pennies in tbp or single issues.
  13. I enjoyed Dead Enders by Ed Brubaker only lasted 16 issues.. then I thought about what else I've enjoyed from Vertigo.. there's so much.. I was a big vertigo buyer/fan 90's/00's..
  14. Thank you lovely people for the replies. I'd be happy with a 5.0 for it. As LowGradeBronze says above, it's a solid enough copy which frankly isn't worth much.. this is all good experience for me, thanks again.
  15. It is liquid.. goodness knows what kind of liquid it is.
  16. Curious about this one.. can't seem to 'place a grade' on it.. what do you lovely expert guys and gals reckon? I'
  17. What he said. If it were my book I'd give it a clean (real carefully) and keep it in mylar. Do I see a rusty bottom staple?
  18. The Wingless Wizard (Very different to all those other wizards with wings obvs)
  19. Paqart, that is some life story you have to tell there sir. Fascinating! You've left me wanting to read volume 2 of your life !
  20. One to watch? Amazing Adventures #1 (Great cover) 1st solo Black Widow story and debut of her Black Costume.
  21. ST 169 @ 27k !!! I reckon someone is waking up with some serious 'buyers regret' today. That's simply 9.8 mania gone wild right? I mean raw it's a $200 book right? ebay has an 8.5 listed at $500
