  1. In the MCU, I think the 'Ultimates' should really be credited with 'more' than it does. As in, it visually heavily influenced the Avengers movies. Nick Fury, Cap's costume, Black Widow and Hawkeye as SHIELD partners... however it did go a bit dark at times if I remember, wasn't Hulk a killer and Thor a mental patient?...so, maybe we all just forget about it and move on.
  2. Thank you lovely people, one for the sending off to get slabbed pile, but this ones a keeper!
  3. Hey lovely people! Please would you grade my rather fantastic, Fanastic Four #51. I'm genuinely super pleased to get my hands on this book, I know it's not a key or anything.. but it's one of my absolute favourites!
  4. X-Men 244.. seems to have gone from a £12 book to a £25 book in about a month...
  5. Ref: Marvel UK Transformers comic I'd suggest they required their own separate listing Under 'Marvel UK' produced a comic which ran for 332 issues, reprinting the American stories (which ran for 80 issues) and adding in many new stories built around them. I was looking for issue #113 (1st Appearance of Deaths Head) and I can see: it's not easy to find on your census, an error with one I see as it's called #133 and is listed what appears to be UK comic numbers listed alongside the US books.
  6. Are the Marvel UK Transformer comics really magazines? CGC lists them as 'Transformers Comics Magazine'... anyway.. Deaths Head 1st App in #113.
  7. Lest we forget Spider-Girl... Mayday Parker who was the 1998's version of the hippest Spider-incantation... I do think Miles Morales has more going for him than Mayday Parker.. but these things do seem to come around again and again. I do wonder if Marvel will ever 'retire' Peter Parker once and for all (I hope not, I hope they just find better stories for him to be in).
  8. FF#45 has such a great cover though, talking of covers... I love this one too..
  9. One might argue FF1 spawned the Marvel universe as we know it today. It brought a more soap opera'esq real life human stories into the world of superhero's. It's almost irrefutable that without FF1 there would have not been X-Men or Spider-Man.
  10. My two penneth... I believe the X-Men has tackled more (or more significant) political and cultural issues over the years and I believe that 'history' will push those themes to higher importance than that are considered now, ergo... X-Men 1.
  11. Geeze, just imagine if this comic book hysteria continues! Anecdotally, I've sold some really obscure runs of 80's/90's comics recently to collectors for reading who wouldn't have been born in those days, I'm not denying there's a market bubble, but it'd be nice to think that there's some genuine interest in reading older books with new collectors.
  12. Well thank you very much, the hive mind proves once again that every day is a school day! I'm quite happy with that at a 6.5 and the ink blotch doesn't seem quite as annoying now.
  13. Hey all, Curious to how the ink stain would affect this book. I've been after this book for a while (on the cheap, I don't do big spendy on comics.. yet) it's one of my favourite covers from the early FF series. King Kirby really nails this in my opinion, I'd love to see his pencils of this before it was inked. Anyway it generally presents quite well, not perfect by any means but I'm very pleased with it.. apart from that ink stain/blotch.. So please grade my FF64 and any suggestions on how to remove that stain would be appreciated also.
  14. I'm at the lower end of the market, the bum end , I don't own one comic worth more than a couple of hundred. I've been collecting on and off for 30 odd years. More recently I thought I'd sell off my collection of mainly 80's/90's/00's books, mainly to supplement my reduced wage packet since covid, and along the way have found myself focused on getting a reasonable run at early FF books. Being 'focused' on one set/run over the past few months I have seen this huge rise in prices alongside a more recent drying up of availability for the early numbers. Six months ago I could have brought a reasonable raw FF51 for £20/30 now I'm lucky to see a 'reasonable' FF51 for less than £75.. six months ago I could have gone to ebay and seen every issue of FF from 100 to 200 available, now there's probably a third of those numbers available. Six months ago I picked and chose from the better condition FF book issues at less than £10 or £20 thinking I'll get FF72 and FF51 when I've sold a bit more of my collection or when one crops up for a steal, I'm now at a point where I've slowed right down.None of that is new to you I'm sure. I've also seen my own comic sales on fleabay seem to have slowed progressively over the past month. FYI I'm still adding listings at a similar frequency. I guess my point, is to query, whether we're currently seeing the 'peak' of this upsurge? Maybe I'm just witnessing the speculative market react to FF books and the possibility of a FF film coming in three or more years? Maybe February is just quiet month on ebay? Does anyone have access to any bigger live data which shows sales across the resale market by 'number of books' as opposed to 'value' which might be slightly misleading.
  15. I recently watched the Inhumans.. I quite enjoyed it, forgettable, but decent enough fodder. Seems my 'collecting' has slowed down of late.. prices seem to be going up across the board for SA FF books..lots of regret in hindsight for not picking up that FF51 and FF72 when I had the chance
  16. I keep telling myself that one day my collection of Lobo's will be worth more than their cover prices.. soon my precious, soon. If they ever make a Lobo standalone, film and if Jason Momoa by some glorious alignment of moons was in the lead role.. My half of a long box collection of Lobo (circa 1983 - 2004) will make me a very happy bunny. The DC Universe could really do with a Lobo sized, Deadpool'esq film.. I'd love to see the Lobo beat up Superman as a side plot.
  17. That is great to see all those books lined up.. well done, I aspire to your collection
  18. Well a big thank you to you knowledge people, I’m very pleased with that indeed.
  19. Hey all, long time lurker first time poster.. thank you in advance for having me here I picked this book up and it seems really nice, I'm loving the old FF books and have recently started building a collection. I have a few questions.. 1) it appears the inner print is visible on the front cover.. not as in I can see the ink but I can see faint indent lines in the bottom left and very slightly on the top right. 2) the colours are great on this book, the black and darker colours are almost too good, is that a sign of something being done to this book or just a book with really good colour? 3) the spine roll.. it looks like it 'should' be like that as the pages sorta line up pretty well, but the staples are clearly on the rear, is that usual? 4) I have not cleaned this book (yet) and am debating whether to do more than a light cotton wool ball, would an experienced cleaner be able to do much to this? I've tried to angle the images with the light to best show off the book and areas of note, I love this forum and I'd love your experience grading this and offering any tips? Thank you in advance.
