  1. This is a better deal! https://www.ebay.com/itm/284930604965
  2. Checked in on the Dixon/Nolan signing and was told my book was signed on June 24, so might get it within the next month or so!
  3. The Dixon/Nolan signing doesn't appear to be on the schedule anytime soon. My book was received back in February for it and has sat there since in 'Received at CCS' status. The submission# isn't even indexed so I can't click on it to see any details which is very odd. That signing doesn't seem to be getting any attention on the boards here. There isn't even a pinned post in the SigSeries Event Central forum like there are for other signings. The event was clearly announced, but, out of curiosity, what are the requirements for having signings listed in that section?
  4. It's odd- the custom label doesn't seem to pop-up when I lookup any of the JLA/Avengers issues, but does work for pretty much every other Perez title that I've added. Can anyone else confirm this?
  5. Thanks for the response! I was a huge X-Men guy back then and always had the title on my pull list at my LCS, so I've got a fairly high degree of confidence that I would have picked up the annual that way as well. I can't picture myself not picking this up day of release and getting it later at a drugstore or something. If anything, I would have just picked it up at my LCS later. I guess you're suggesting it's possible my LCS had acquired newsstand copies in the aftermarket? Anything is possible I suppose! I was just mostly looking to confirm that there wasn't some odd policy at Marvel back then when they were trying to push bar code scanning and shipping bar code copies in the direct market.
  6. Hate to dig up this topic as I have a relative ambivalence to Gambit's first appearance, but I just realized my copy of X-Men Annual #14 has a bar code. I'm the original owner of this issue and was definitely buying exclusively from comic shops back then, so I have no idea how I would have a newsstand copy. Is it possible this bar code version could have been distributed in the direct market? Did that happen back then?
  7. FWIW, my submission actually hit Scheduled for Grading on 10/27 after languishing in Received at CCS status since June, so it seems like he may have signed them? This is just a guess since there's been no announcements or social media posts like we've seen with other signing events lately.
  8. Btw, the Pander Bros still have pages of their original art from their run available for purchase on their Etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PanderBrothers?section_id=14290293

    Directing CCS

Hi - I'm considering sending in a comic for a press and cleaning by CCS. There's a specific mark/stain that I'd like to make sure they address (if possible). Is there a way I can call that out to them in my submission? Is it as simple as including a post-it note with the details and maybe even an arrow pointing to the area I'm referring to or is there a preferred method of communication? Thanks!
  10. I got this signed by Jim Aparo, Giordano, Sprang (!), Denny O'Neil, Dave Dorman and Archie Goodwin at the Chicago Comicon in 1989. Sprang was the Guest of Honor that year. I remember being dead set on getting as many signatures in the book as I could that day, although I never brought it with me to subsequent conventions to get more sigs... I
  11. I actually discovered Alex's father, Clark, attended the same church I do here in northern Illinois. It was a rather bizarre situation. One day I noticed an elderly gentleman who looked strangely familiar sitting by himself in the pews near the tinted windows and, if you know the story of Kingdom Come, you know how surreal it was to see that in real life. I knew Alex lived in the area and figured it couldn't be a coincidence so I introduced myself to him afterwards and he confirmed he was Alex's father. We would catch up occasionally after church for a few years after that. I reminded him once that there was an action figure based on him (via his Kingdom Come character) and joked he was the only one at church who could make that claim. He got a kick out of that. I believe he passed away in the last year or so. Really nice gentleman with some incredible history.
  12. It was part of a 4 print portfolio as well: https://comics.ha.com/itm/memorabilia/comic-related/x-men-portfolio-by-fastner-and-larson-marvel-1983-condition-nm/a/121139-14617.s
  13. I started reading Bone immediately after Don Thompson gave it a glowing review in CBG in 1992. I remember a panel of the red dragon next to the article review and thinking how much it looked like Ty Templeton's work at the time. Don wrote that you could buy the first 3 issues directly from Cartoon Books and Jeff Smith would autograph the first issue so I jumped right on that. Looks like I got the 2nd printings of #1-3 from them, which I didn't realize until later. Great series. Wish I had those in 1st print!
  14. Hi - I've got a copy of a first-print Raphael #1 that I'd like to submit, but not sure if I should fill out the magazine form or the comic form. It's magazine sized, but it is a comic book. Which category should I select? Thanks!
  15. I came on during the Paul Smith run and it pretty much cemented my passion for the hobby. Issue 173, in particular, was defining for me. Wolverine vs Ninjas and the Silver Samurai? I mean, c'mon! If I had a vote, I'd push for a Claremont/Smith run on the new X-Men Legends series where Smith actually completes issue 175 and we get another 100+ issues from the both of them... It's been interesting to watch the behavior on the CGC prices for these issues. 166 and 169 have 1st appearances (Lockheed and Morlocks respectively) and pull in pretty large dollars, although they seem a little too high given the popularity of the title and number of copies out there. Once you get into the Romita Jr run, the first appearance of Forge in 184 is really exorbitant. The speculator market these days for 1st appearances of even tertiary characters never ceases to amaze me.
  16. Also, can we still just put JL on the shipping box or should we put JL SW, JL SW AS, etc?
  17. Thanks! Could have sworn that Lee/Williams option wasn't there before!
  18. Hi - for the Jim Lee/Scott Williams/Alex Sinclair signing event, is it possible to only have Jim Lee and Scott Williams sign a book, even if you're still willing to pay for all 3 ($140)? There's obviously some Lee/Williams books that Alex Sinclair did not color so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for him to also sign. Thanks!
  19. Thanks Jennifer - unfortunately, I think I sent it out with only one. Is that ok or will it cause problems?
  20. Hi - I just created an online form for a comic submission and the order created two copies of the packing slip. Is that by design? Do you want both copies (they're exactly the same) or should I only print one of them to include in my shipment? Thanks!
  21. As long as it includes Honest Crocus, a licensed dealer in arms!
  22. Great, great series. Some real sci-fi under that super-hero sheen. It's been an interesting evolution of the Baron/Rude partnership over the last few years. They're not seeing eye-to-eye on storylines so rather than not work together and not put out product, they're sort of co-habitating in the Nexus universe and doing their own things, but in a similar fashion. Baron put out a great Nexus novel last year and Rude took the same plot and did a series of newspaper strips that just got collected. It's fascinating to see how much they diverged from each other in terms of story and structure. It's a bit of a sadness though because the sum is so much better than the parts. The Dude's still very much got it art-wise, but I think I can objectively say his words don't compare to Baron's scripts. I admire the mutual pragmatism in doing this, however. It's usually a Beatles kind of thing where the band breaks up and everybody loses, so this arrangement beats the alternative I suppose. I'd agree that issues 1-50 were the strongest, although the series of series at Dark Horse is fairly strong. For the art connoisseurs, I strongly recommend The Nexus Chronicles. Really nice, big Artist Edition kind of book and you can get a sketch by the Dude for an extra 50 bucks!
  23. I'm always interested in rare Alan Moore work. The Alphabets of Desire poster is actually still available on Todd Klein's website, signed by both, and available here. Is anyone familiar with his short book (basically an ashcan) of poems he did with Steve Moore? 'Technical Vocabularies' More info on it here. I've got a copy and have wondered if it's something CGC would even grade.
