I haven't done an ME in many years ... I'm sure things have changed. I seem to recall reading where the option on the form for this kind of thing says something like 'postal mishandling' or something like that.

My question: When people return an ME for this kind of stuff, do the people who are doing the actual reslabbing and the QC people (if they exist) know why the books were returned in the first place?

There is some information you provide on the invoice if they read it. I also attached a separate page of info with more detail and said I could provide pictures. They provide a label to ship to them and seems there was some wording that I may be charged for return shipping. I really expect my damage is on the comic and it will be down graded and look the same or worse but then I will know they ruined my comic on the original handling.

I mean, anything is possible. That doesn't make it likely.

In both instances, there would be other damage like massive folds, bends, or ripples across the cover. But a series of color-breaking spine tics? Highly unlikely that's the fault of the postal carrier.

I just purchased 5 comics and I think USPS may have done just that. Drive a truck over the Gemini folder they were shipped in. All have bends and one was a foil that can't be pressed out.

    To further clarify:

If you hadnt pressed? It would say upon received at cgc, sfg.

Even after the signing until it was in the grading room, then would say gei.

Bascally receiced at ccs is just the holding pattern even until after the signing, until received back at cgc department for grading. :)

Idk that my pressing ever changed through designations, until cgc had it then sfg, then gei, then qc, then shipped.

Received at ccs is holding patter designation, so that after the signing cgc then knows it should be pressed so they dont accidentally skip it. Or something.

This is why I think they need a "pressing" status or show them received to CGC and then change to CCS when in pressing. I have submitted a lot of books this year and paid for pressing on all of them. I have my doubts some were actually pressed.

  4. Just got one back that I thought for sure would be a 9.8 or higher. Nope, 9.6 after they ruined the back or they may have graded lower. The back was perfect and now has little smudge marks all over it. The front has a few tics on the spine that were not there but can't tell from my before pics. Done sending any more.

  5. Ok, I must have missed it. What is the reason we think it was downgraded from a 9.8? I can only see maybe the ink or smudge marks on back bottom left and middle left. I would give you a 9.8. :) I have a few I sent to CGC that was disappointed in the outcome also. Mostly I felt maybe they were not pressed. A few I looked back at my high res photos and saw the problem and it was me. I wish anything less than a 9.8 had at least one note to help explain.
