  1. HP 8300 has arrived. I used these books due to the amount of color since that is a key factor for me. I must say, the scans look very close to the real thing. I have a Windows 10 PC and the computer picked it up right away. The scan out of the box was way off and needed tweaking. I installed Photoshop Express and just set these settings: Contrast +50 White +50 Black -40 Vibrance +50 Big shoutout to @Timeless icons for giving me insight into what they use, the settings to tweak and overall contentment with the HP 8300 scanner. I appreciate you taking out the time to share your hobby knowledge with me. Many thanks!
  2. I have a buddy on the same boat. I have 2 9.8’s of Revival. It’s actually a good story if you ask me.
  3. Ha! I feel ya pain but don’t give up.
  4. Went to Frankie's Comics to look around and left with this. Looks 9.6 to my untrained eye.
  5. Nonsense, no rambling. It all fits the topic and I appreciate the info. You are correct that a 1st app alone will not cut it. She has a famous dad and if Marvel is serious about their next-gen characters, then she should have stories under her. They just need to be good stories
  6. Right on 100% One-Punch Man? Do FCBD books have any outliers that sell for big $? I was told most do not sell well but I must admit in not doing my research on that comment.
  7. What is your biggest spec that you are still waiting to see if it pans out or that you have already deemed a bust? Mine is recent. I recently purchased a 25-book lot of FCBD 2022 Avengers/X-Men #1 (1st appearance of Bloodline, daughter of Blade). It was a cheap enough investment that I could afford to risk given that otherwise, I would have spent that money on a random purchase. I know there were a lot of them printed so not holding onto it being a big $$ book but heck, ya never know. I have yet to have a good spec pan out
  8. Same here, OP didn't jump in the pool, he did a tripple back flip from the diving board into the pool. Love the books! Agee 100% on 9.6 vs 9.8 and also how I took am guilty of chasing 9.8s
  9. Reading this and also hearing about delays on social media is crazy but not surprising. The same thing happened in sports cards with PSA. They stopped their most basic level for some months to stop the influx of cards being sent in, which IMO have zero business being graded + they increased prices across the mid-level. I waited a year and a half for a PSA order to come back to me and have an order now still with them getting close to a year. It pissed off a lot of people but a year later they are now mostly back on track with the same raised prices and still making a killing at the bank. CGC can see the same thing happen if this influx keeps up. I had a good result with CGC. I sent 50 books to my presser in late November 2021, he had his own backlog and submitted them to CGC in early January. I got my books from CGC in May. 6 months total was my wait time. I am hesitant though to see if lightning strikes twice. I have 50+ books sitting here that I want to grade but need to think it over more to see if I would be OK if it took them a year or more to get them back to me.
  10. I have an 8300 incoming. Looking forward to finally having a scanner for my slabs. I will post scanned images once I get around to it. Great info in this thread.
  11. Great - now I will be looking for comics in movies and shows. My brain can't take this
  12. Been around comics for about 1.5yrs now after taking a break from the graded sports card market. I read and collected comics as a kid and also collected Marvel Universe cards back when they came out. I had 2 binders full of that stuff. Awesome times! Sometime right before I started HS I gave all of my books and cards to a good friend - cause now I had girls and cars on my mind 24/7 (I do recall having key books during this time but preserving their condition was not in my mind nor was selling them for a profit either. I never knew what ever happened to my books.) Fast forward to 2012 where after settling in as an adult with a wife, kids, a house and an already steady long-term job in hand.....I jumped into sports cards. Cards went well for me as I had a good hobby mentor and he helped me stay relatively ahead of the proverbial curve in that market. I managed to have the hobby fund itself within a year and then build up a very nice PC over the years. I managed to cultivate patience and that is key in cards and comic hobbies because you can't go after everything that shines. You have to know when to buy and sell and more importantly when to just sit back and allow the market to unfold. From 2012-2019 I bought 3 graded comics just on recommendations. Original Secret Wars #1, #8, 1st Black Panther solo series. SW 1 and 8 are 9.8s and BP is 9.6. In 2020, I sold 95% of all my PC cards to fund funeral expenses for 5 people that passed in my wife's family and in my family due to covid. It was very tough. We immediately offered to cover the bulk of the costs since she and I earn well - as compared to most of the working people in our families. We are not rich by any stretch of the imagination but we do have a deep appreciation for family and lending a helping hand, if we have the ability to help we will. Again, 2020 was very tough. In 2021 I jumped in head first into comics with the same card mentality. Flip books and use the funds to buy key books to have a nice PC to enjoy. Issue is.....I went and bought a ton of modern books without doing my research. So I didn't take my own advice and now I have over 100 slabs of modern with the highest FMV being no more than ~$200 or so. It was a hard lesson. I am now reset in my thinking and spending money more carefully. So with all that said............. Hi, y'all! I look forward to participating more in this forum and meeting new folks. -KB
  13. Great pics and recap - glad you had fun. I live 2hrs away and was thinking of going but never pulled the trigger. Maybe next time.
  14. Hot dang - thx! Great review and I also looked at a few pages worth of comments to see what others had to say.
  15. This is true. I just got into comics about 2yrs ago and have really been just buying and reading and learning. I am now starting to sell and hence my "noobness"
  16. Does a mod move it or do I have to close this and open it in the proper section? What is the correct section? Thanks for letting me know. Good feedback, thanks!
  17. @Timeless icons Do you use a scanner for these images? if so, can you share the one you use? these images look great and I am also in the market for a scanner for my slabbed books.
  18. Hello all I hope this is in the right section. I have a shop for my graded sports cards that I use. I send him my cards, he posts them on eBay and I get paid once they all sell. Easy as pie and I have been doing that for years. The sales of all that flipping help fund key cards I want in my PC. I am now finding myself with a large batch of CGC slabs that I would like to also send to a reputable consignment shop for similar treatment. When I say large I mean about 70-80 slabs. Not all are bangers as I was simply into it for grading and selling to them use those funds for key books I want. Having the hobby pay for itself just like my sports cards. I have another 30-40 slabs grading at CGC but I won't have them back until later this year due to turnaround times. https://www.mycomicshop.com/ is one company I found. Does anyone else have recommendations or can vouch for the one I found? Update: I just found this one as well: https://certifiedcomic.shop/graded-comic-book-consignment/
  19. My only J. Scott cover (x2) Looking to add some other covers, great artist.
  20. Thanks! I do love my 9.9. I wonder... How many of these 9.9s and 10s people are showing off are purchased vs. sent in for grading. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised to see a 9.9 but I did not submit it. I pre-ordered this book in a 9.8 and the store sent me this. Maybe they did not open the box to confirm and just assumed all would be 9.8s since they did ask for a minimum of 9.8s? Not sure how it worked out for them but I am happy that I was sent 9.9. Mine came in a box from CGC and not in a box from the store I placed my order with.
