  1. That's a pretty sharp looking copy! I'm also digging the other books in that handful too!!!
  2. Nice score!!! I have a rough copy of this issue too, but the cover is mostly there, so it found its way into my bag. Also, cropping the cover pic helps a bit!
  3. I think westerns have picked up a LOT! I seem to have more and more competition when I'm bidding on them these days.
  4. These seem similar, at least in the premise of hiding behind a huge rock with trouble coming from both sides.
  5. I had heard a while back that he passed away. I saw him at pretty much every Chicago comic con from the early 90s up until sometime in the 2000s I guess, when it got too difficult for him to set up. I knew he had a health issue, but I didn't know him well enough (or so I thought) to ever inquire as to what specific problem ailed him. I remember him laying down behind his table the last few times I saw him set up in Chicago, but I think I thought he had a bad back, not knowing he had Parkinsons. I seem to recall buying some Golden Age from him and although I looked at his art and discussed it with him every show I saw him at, unfortunately, I never bought any art from him. I was mostly a comic collector then and just dipped a toe into the art world from time to time. He always had an incredible display of artwork, usually the best at the show. He was always nice to me, even though I only bought a few comics from him over the years. I have one of his catalogs from way back in the day and it always makes me smile to see the inventory he had. RIP Conrad, you'll be remembered fondly by many!
  6. These two have always had a similar feel to me. Perhaps it's the dark blue colors and the placement of the characters but I really dig both of them!
  7. "The SUPER-SHOWDOWN!" to "SHOWDOWN AT THE SILVER SPUR!"
  8. I sold this copy to a long time, great friend a while ago, with a first rights of refusal should he sell it, so ... I no longer own it, BUT still have my pic of it to share as an example of a Nedor "C" code Church copy.
  9. In need of rescue by a blonde to blonde needing rescue.
  10. Blue Felix holding a knife cover to blue Felix holding a pistol cover.
  11. My favorite PHM local shop purchase of all time! I mean, it was a lot of money, but it's worth it!
  12. When you see the grade and think, "Technical schmecnical, this is a beauty!" Jumpy colors on this one too!!!
  13. It's one thing to get very vivid colors on a raw book, but when they jump out at you thru a few layers of plastic ...
  14. That's one book I got lucky finding. I'm not a specific grade collector, just usually the nicest copy that makes the most sense.
  15. I was happy to upgrade and just set my under copy aside. I'll probably list it in a sales thread in the future, but I had considered cracking it out.
  16. A book I bought a number of years ago, this is another instance where I just snapped a quick pic with my phone, nothing at all fancy ... and the colors really shine thru. Also, this is very clearly unpressed.
  17. This book came out of an original owner collection that came to market late last year. The colors on this copy are amazing and it has bright white pages! This is just a pic I grabbed with my phone ... nothing at all fancy, and you can see how brilliant the colors are. They're even better in person!
  18. There's just something about that brown they used ... and I DO really love this cover! I think it's one that kinda goes unnoticed.
  19. January Charlton Wyatt Earp to January Atlas Wyatt Earp.
