    By "appearance" I didn't mean adding to or part of a storyline in continuity, I meant the "other" meaning of "appearance" ... to be depicted pictorially in the publication, which are clearly two very different, completely separate things.

    If the Golden Age offered something the Silver Age and beyond never could, it was the grizzly content that they could get away with back then. Cover art frequently featured someone about to be impaled by or cut in half with some type of device. Vats of acid or boiling oil were also commonplace and the hero was USUALLY in time to save the sidekick or damsel in serious distress!!! Timely, MLJ, Ace and others offered up some of the best covers of this type. They deserve their own thread!

    The earliest FF house ad I've been able to find, which is found inside of Strange Tales #95. This issue came out between FF 3 & 4, so I suppose technically, it's the 4th appearance of the Fantastic Four!!!
