Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!

No arrival date markings on this book but also from the same collection as the others I've recently posted. A few unfortunate scratches on the cover but otherwise very pretty. -

Fox Comics Appreciation Thread!

Thanks, and WOW!!! I've found maybe one Frisco in the wild that wasn't called out as such but was priced high due to its condition. I HAVE found a few Friscos and Big Apple copies in friend's collections that they didn't know were pedigrees! Yeah, the days of finding rare comics for practically nothing are virtually gone. I DID find a superhero era Super-Mystery for $40 amongst a bunch of inexpensive newer books at a Half Price Books a few years ago! So, I still look. Ya never know ... -

Two more from that same collection, albeit less exciting than some of the previous books. The arrival date code has changed again, where one is in pencil and the other looks like that early marker they used. The "P N" is also now gone. These two are a bit later than the V Comics so it's likely just the progression of time changing the arrival date. -

Thanks Gino! It's kinda crazy, as I had pretty much given up collecting the superhero Fox books due to rarity and cost, so I sold what I had (well, I might have a Green Mask laying around) and resigned myself to just enjoying the copies my buddies have. I guess you never know what's going to be in the next box you look thru. -

I'd say that I owe luck a beer, as I nearly WASN'T in the right place at the right time. Luck plays such a huge part in finding cool books! Congrats on wrangling up a copy! As I understand it, these late run Fox books are some of the toughest. -

Thanks! It went from it's original owner location, to the buyer of the collection, to me, so it's quite uncirculated. I only have a few Fox books now, unfortunately. Looking thru this thread is like a buffet of cool, rare books! You've sure posted some great copies! -
Colossal creatures battling a large piece off of the cover to colossal creatures battling a smaller piece off of the cover.

It's nearly a photo finish Ameri, but yours IS worse, as it's missing one more page than mine. They're about as close as brothers can get though ... same basic condition, same pedigree and only a few issues apart. I actually found parts that I think will complete my copy (might still be missing one page), but I won't be sure until I crack it out and check.

This book came from the same original owner collection as the previous two did. Being just a bit later, the arrival date code had changed to a pencil and a little bit larger. Perhaps a different person at the newsstand by then. The "P N" is reminiscent of the Lamont Larson collection "P N" which stood for Publishers News. -
I'm not terribly knowledgeable about this area in comics, but those are two of my favorite covers as well.
