  1. I've always loved Namora, so she needs to be in my top five! Wow, I bought this from Har in San Diego in 1994!!! That's kinda crazy!!!
  2. Thanks pal Sometimes a guy's in the right place at the right time and he gets a shot at uncirculated, original owner books.
  3. Wow, that's a very cool find!!! I've never seen that before! Thanks for sharing that!
  4. These two came out of the same original owner collection. Notice the same arrival date code style.
  5. Quality July 1940 cover drawn by Lou Fine to Quality June 1940 cover drawn by Gil Fox.
  6. It's always been unfortunate (in my opinion), that Subby has gotten the short shrift when it comes to Marvel Mystery covers. Oh sure, he got some, but in the first dozen Marvel covers, he only got TWO solo covers, while the Angel got FIVE!!! Yes, we've all read how Martin Goodman liked and had high hopes for the Angel character, but by the twelfth issue, it became clearer to them who was selling the mags! Then there are the shared covers of the Human Torch and Subby, either facing off against each other or working together ... and those are great! It's hard to beat Marvel 9 or 15 and those two are high on my list of favorites. I count only five solo Subby covers: 4, 10, 14, 20 & 26, all of which are awesome, but none of which are drawn by Subby's creator, Bill Everett. I likewise see this as a terrible shame. Alex Schomburg is one of my all-time favorite cover artists, but I think there were enough cover assignments available that Everett could've drawn one or two for his own character! At least we have Sub-Mariner 32 & 33!!! Of course, they appear together on the covers of other Timely titles as well, but there's just something about those red and yellow Marvel Mystery issues ....
  7. Sticky situation leaves them feeling flat to sticky situation leaves him feeling drained ...
  8. The two faces of Superman to the two faces of the Human Torch.
  9. Yeah, many Friscos from that period have a similar inked arrival date. Is there an inked Riley stamp on the back cover? The majority of the Friscos I've seen from this time period have that Riley stamp on the back cover somewhere. Btw, that's an incredible copy you've got there!!! One of my favorites and an excellent example of why Alex Schomburg is one of my favorite Golden Age artists!!!
  10. That's very cool! I used to read MAD once in a while in my youth. I've resisted collecting them, mostly for storage reasons!
  11. I'll have an eyeball on them when I go to shows now. As stunning as they are, I doubt I'll be able to afford any Gaines file copies, but I'd likely leave those slabbed if I DID buy any, so raw readers will be the ticket for me.
