  2. Had a request to post this book (outside the mylar).....
  3. Will get to A-Man 11 but here is a post of request for Big 3 #7
  4. Nice book, But Why your favorite? Lou Fine is my favorite artist...although a minor character...the image evinces the grace and lyrical quality that Fine brought to the drawn page.....for me it just is mesmerizing.....motion that you can feel although it is static......look at the care to the wrinkling of clothes......it just does it for me....different strokes for different folks.....jon
  5. My favorite comicbook cover of all time.......
  6. Here is a beautiful Edd Ashe cover....check the colors (especially the blue...)
  7. Another last number.... One of my favorite non-Fine covers.....Ramona Patenude produced some GREAT covers at the end of the runs,,,,,, Balanced by Lou Fine's first comicbook cover.....
  8. There is a lot of concentration on the front end of these books....here are some numbers from the back end of the pre-war run which i have found very tough to obtain....
  9. Paul Karasik is writing a book on Fletcher Hanks---sort of "Wolverton on acid". Paul scanned a number of the stories from Fox and Fiction House. Do not know when it is coming out... His style kinda grows on you. Paul recently taught a course on American comic book art in Italy......jon
  10. Here is Science 3 by Lou Fine (Larson copy). Metropolis has a lower grade copy of this classic cover on their site for sale .
  11. .....another lesser known classic by Fine (Larson copy)
  12. As many know, I made a passion about the pre-war Fox books. Here a link of some done in chronological order. http://www.comicartville.com/foxcovers.htm I have amassed all the pre-war Fox books, with many of the last covers by Patenude being little gems. jon
  13. Scott, I am fairly certain that Detective #18 is, in fact, O'Mealia. The character is from one of O'Mealia's strips, the detailed art is definitely O'Mealia's style, and O'Mealia did several of the subsequent pre-hero Tec covers. But then again, maybe we will find out from Jon that this was Flessel aping O'Mealia. RHG It was one of the first covers that I had commissioned. I was out in San Diego for the convention. I have rarely commissioned anyone do someone else's cover. I believe - this goes back over 12 years- going thru covers he did and choosing this one....He did one for Charlie Roberts but put on mine "that he liked this rendition better". I have to agree that the style looks different and it is "not signed". Flessel lives on Long Island----maybe someone can ask.....jon I do have the 'tec 13 and Adventure 40 which are definitely his... He apparently lives in Mill Valley, CA now. Thanks Jon. Maybe I'll just call him. Flessel is extremely nice man....and quite funny.....i would not hesitate to call him, if you want.....jon

  15. In addition to my interest in hardcore GA, i am almost finished with the back end of Ace magazine books....many of their covers from this '46-'47 period i dub as examples of "comics noir"...jon This is 6/3.
  16. NO-BOD-IE did it better than Lou Fine.....jb
  17. not that i know....I do not know where this "m" thing started, but Jim Payette could clear it up in two seconds....jon
