Yeah I wasn’t looking for a valuation, just an idea on how to do it
-
Considering selling a couple of items, not high end published stuff, but maybe items that don’t crop up often enough to have something to compare with. How do you come up with a target price ?
-
Looking for a guide to the pros and cons of selling through heritage, and the actual mechanics of using them if anyone can help ?
wht do I need to know before approaching them ? What are there fees ? do I send my stuff to them or the buyer ? do more art buyers watch heritage or are most sites similar ?
anything woukd really help me thanks in advance

Maybe they found the original, since it's described as having "partial inks"?
That would be very interesting to see !

I guess we're all waiting for the picture to come, to give you an opinion... :-)
True enough, Kevin does have a scan of the photocopy and his inks on his blog ....

“This cover was penciled (with partial inks) by Mike Mignola (of Hellboy fame) on DC Comics Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Signed by Mignola in the image area. In Excellent condition.”
on Kevin Nowlan’s blog he says “The pencils for this piece were lost, even before I was asked to ink it, so Marvel had me work over an 11x17" copy. I really like the way Mike drew the dead guy in the lower left corner.”

Who is correct, Heritage or Kevin “

Mike “ Pretty sure that's fake. It's way too clean. And what are those floating lines--On the left side, left of his arm and over his shoulder? You might see something like that in pencil or on a very rough sketch but not on a finished piece.”
-
Mike confirmed that this piece sold for $1501 is a fake

The Byrne piece was not a freebie. I was already in his que for a montage, he extended the size of the piece for no extra charge, which was very much appreciated

I remembered it was 4 of you, but did not know they all got "virue". I did know they all got the same message essentially.
I was on the Golden list at the time; it was a fustercluck. Eva did give me free prints when I would check in at shows and ask about the commissions. When it finally came I was disappointed in the art itself on my two (Hulk and Dr Strange, both long gone); the classic Golden style was not to be found in the new stuff.
For the first couple of years after, I would get Lots of emails from people in the same boat asking for advice. The only advice I had was not to keep things like this secret, collectors keep things like this close to their chest for the most part.

I understand if the commissioners don't want to show the art. But is it possible to know what the subject/characters were for the other 3 pieces ? And can you say what happened after ?? Did any of the 3 get "replacement" commissions as you did ??
One was the Micronauts, one had Dracula and a couple other characters, and I can’t remember the fourth. I think one got a new piece and the other 2 refunds.

Would be great to see the other 3. Yours was a milestone in commission history.
Our case would maybe have had more impact with the 4, but I respect their decision not to show

I had no idea there were 4 of them.
Were they all misspelled?
If so that makes it even funnier because then it's not just a typo on his part.
yes indeed, all had the" virue" message and all had the characters with their backs to the viewer. In the final statement at the time, the other 3 collectors at the name were mentioned, but declined to show their art.

3 mignola pieces, a cover, a splash page and an unpublished piece all sold for the same price $7800. Is that unusual ?

The Steamworld Chronicles - The Constantine Quest pt.1 $75.00 SIMONSON SKETCHBOOK SETS
- The artist offered me his proof, but I didn't take it because it was unfair to everyone else. The writer said he has the books in his garage. This was a very early KS and I suspect he underestimate shipping costs and labor by a lot
This one really annoyed me. Walter did a really nice sketch for me as part of this. Hoveke never sent it or my copy of the comic. I got a pdf of the book. He’s never replied to any emails
