  1. You guys are good. On my iPhone I typed the url as https://WWcomics.com and displays fine now.
  2. Haha. My keyboard is crazy! Changing everything I type. Sheesh.
  3. key collector includes too many non key key frost appearances. I used it and went through my boxes and pulled all the listings. A year later went through the new box and wondered why al these books were worth pulling! They just include ANY first appearance and dont really rate their significance except for their prices, which are all over the map: too high, too low, and ????
  4. Remember when he came on the boards and was a real character. But looks like the site has taken hold. So much data on there enow. Do they have a team of writers/contributors? are they employees, or paid freelancers? or just youtube channel comics gurus? Are they making money? anyone have a clue?
  5. to me the "best" source would be the most reliable, "reliable" being say a trusted dealer who cis known as an accurate grader. If "best" means has the most examples to sample for prices, Ebay would win... but quantity or even breadth of datapoints is less important to me than the "accuracy" of the pricing for selling comparable comics. But bottom kine there just isn't one really good way to price comics that far better than the rest.
  6. I started to defend Ebay as a good source because of an abundance of real time data, But as you pointed out, dealers grade, um, differently. and even more so on Ebay. so its not a reliable source for Grade/Price evaluation.
  7. There is no accurate way, aside from meticulously averaging out every online dealer inventory. Just figure raw is roughly same as CGC prices. That what dealers generally do for in demand books. And reduce as need be for carp.
  8. it may shrink soon, but probably come back at some point... Whats clever about the estate tax deduction is that everyone below it never pays Federal estate taxes. Thats what most people agree with, since your estate is comprised of "after taxed' assets. Meaning if you sell 100K in stocks, you pay capital gains tax on your gain. Or if you saved all of your net income after taxes each year. If that remaining" after tax" cash remains in your estate at the surviving spouses death (or yours if unmarried), it gets taxed again, this time at 40%. so the IRS's high deductible results in 98% of us not owing any estate taxes, and just the very rich facing dilemmas on how to avoid as much as they legally can. I think thats fairer than everybody facing (double) estate taxation.
  9. lets put it this way. Todays prices wouldn't get the books 20 years ago. So now that they are worth todays prices, the ask is still 10x todays prices, same as before. No reason to sell..
  10. but everyones primary goal is the safety and health of their families, especially the children. That means seeing to their welfare. Passing on as much of your success ought to be possible.. and thats what the estate tax laws are geared to accomplish. As it now stands, if your estate is less than 11.7 million dollars --- and 23.4 between you and your spouse -- you pay zero estate taxes to the IRS. depending on where you live you might still get hit for state taxes, but only in some states. The current estate tax law misses just about everyone we know. Its therefore a non event. But Im curious. If you got your way, and no one inherited anything, where would the money go? Youre talking about 100% Estate tax. A fair way to achieve what you intend to happen would be mandatory trust accounts for all inheritance assets that by law cannot be touched for 40 years or something. So the kids start with nothing and have to scrap and claw to get ahead, and will have made their fortunes before they reach 40. or will be saved by the trusts fund if they fail! (of course once a law is passed all the big brains start to work figuring out loopholes. Like in this scenario, borrowing against the trust assets and spending it down from the gitgo.)
  11. Dom seems fine... being upfront and cheerful. Goldin has catching up to do... it won't be easy. But we all know from experience that we will buy the books wherever they are, so they know what they need to do. Hey Dom, convince them to start previewing books as they are consigned starting say a month in advance. it build awareness and excitement... gets the work out to pay attention to you.
  12. Great leader Up north? you mean Santa Claus? seriously, Canada does this? wow
  13. without going over every flaw with you (like that bindery tears often get overlooked) , Id agree that some of the books got higher grades from CGC. Im not blind. That is part of the whole process we have experienced for 20 years. What Im refuting is that there was anything more going on than just CGC being CGC, processing a truckful of "perfect, unread, tight, amazingly rich colors" etc etc, all at once. We've all experienced "graders fatigue" or "graders blindness" (when we were lucky enough to GET a stack of such pristine looking books). The overgraded books should be sent back to right the wrongs! harrumph.
  14. you wont like this answer, but I cant grade from a scan. (especially a book that looks flawless in the scan). CGC doesn't either. Yours is an amazing copy! Crack it out and place it next to a raw Promise book you feel has identical problems. Call me over and lets compare them carefully under good lights etc like CGC does before we just say you got shafted, or someone else got a gift grade. I too have a lot of incredibly tight books that got lower grades than I expected. And also some went higher too. Graders notes dont list everything either, nor were they intended to.
  15. There’s been a lot of criticism of the Promise books. Continued accusations of gift grades and preferential treatment, as you alluded to. I don’t buy it. what plenty of people love to do is speculate about this stuff. Again and again. And make comments about what they think is going on. Of course cause this is the internet where all viewpoints are okay. I think some of these books challenged grading assumptions at CGC. Perfect bound tight flat shiny GA books with flaws that didn’t come from the usual wear and tear that books in circulation suffered from. CGC decided to allow them. Internet says it was collusion. Has to be cause of overlapping ownership and cause the world is rigged. we can agree to disagree. Kudos to you for buying them though. Big boy pants indeed!
  16. Yeah. I hear you. Amazing what current comics values have brought to collecting …
  17. Affordable care act included the extra. Applies to 20% normal capital gains too. It’s tied to your gross income. . The net investment income tax. Some investors may owe an additional 3.8% that applies to whichever is smaller: your net investment income or the amount by which your modified adjusted gross income exceeds the amounts listed below. Here are the income thresholds that might make investors subject to this additional tax: Single or head of household: $200,000 Married, filing jointly: $250,000 Married, filing separately: $125,000
  18. You should only sell if you need spending money. With the estate tax deduction at 11 million… and even if it goes down to 6M soon, so long as your estate isn’t larger than the deduction (times two if you are married). you pay zero estate tax AND your heirs get a step up in value. That means if your collection is worth 300K and your cost is 100K, the cost basis steps up to the market value of 300K for your heirs. So when THEY sell them, their capital gains tax will only be applied to any increase in value above 300K. if YOU sell them you pay capital gains rax of 28% plus an extra 3.8% surcharge on you gains, in this case 200K, or 63K. That’s a big hit to your heirs. And you!
  19. Here here. I’m also tired is the Promise books constantly being trashed as near worthless hype because people post scans and scream “over graded” and “favoritism” ad nauseum. I don’t get the zeal and sheer effort so many here exhibit tarnishing this collection. I’m not buying them so I don’t have a horse in this fight. But I can Recognize what a big deal this is in the history of our hobby. People say it’s not the Church collection. Okay sure. But it ain’t chopped liver either. I think people are overpaying for many of them, but, maybe not in the long run.
  20. Disney settled with Kirbys family, so The Ditkos are expecting the same. I wouldn't think the others have much of a chance at any payout. But maybe thats why they teamed up with the Ditkos.
  21. Not to mention Netflix just green lit the Saddle Justice movie! Saddle up cowboys!
  22. IMO more than TOD#1 but far less than TNMT #1. But Cerebus #1 are going for real money now, so its allure isn't dead yet.
