  1. good point about the running.  But did Cruise run?  I thought he was great!  Now, having read age books I see he wasn't visually perfect, or close to the mental picture every rider created in their head.  But as Ive posted here a lot on the subject:  Cruise's Reacher was a small, tightly wound MF who could think on his feet and take out the bad guys every time.  Not knowing he was supposed to be 6'5" and 250, Cruise was just fine for me. Probably my favorite role of his.  (I havent seen more than parts of the MI films.)

  2. what would I change?  not my job!  But for starters, Beige nails one big thing.  Though that scene was just Reacher, alone, in a hopelessly outnumbered situation, who then takes charge with a single burst of action -- Season 2 has already featured many brawls already where it's Reacher plus 4 against a mob.  Of course they will win, even though miraculously, his tough (but much more ordinary) partners also kick serious butt..  which is a stretch... and makes these scenes longer and less effective.

And a basic flaw in both seasons is that they take up ten hours to tell a story thats less than 2 hours as a feature film.  And they've telegraphed the end!

  3. I feel a little of the John Wick feeling.  The first one was about some guy we know nothing about.  And turns into a don’t mess with the devil with insane killing skills etc.  and a secret society to boot   But each sequel goes so much wider and unbelievable, as he walks through 100s of assassins.  Literally..  Reacher 1 was similar, who is this guy? And we see him be the master of each situation as he solved the crime/mystery.

but Season 2 that’s no longer the focus, like Wick.  It’s just set him up and let him beat everyone up.  And as was posted, his whole crew is just as tough?  I saw the 2 Cruise movies and then the series and then read all the books. So he’s no longer a mystery to me.  But the books worked… so far this season is just interesting but not compelling.
‘I know they can’t recreate an already introduced “nobody”,  but that’s not the only problem watching season 2 for me.

  4. Since Superman 1s are scarcer in hg than most other GA superhero keys, Id be surprised if the 7.0 doesn't yield an impressive number.  Here's the census.. Not many copies better. it's in the top 5! (or 6 copies including the dentist copy), although --  it sits not too unimpressively ranked tied in 4th (or 5th) place grade wise...  Considering the MH 8.0 sold for 5M, and is now the 8.5, a 7.0 is flying not that far behind in the stratosphere.   But -- I can see where the Hulk 1 9.2, or the promiscuous All-Star 8, and either the top Showcase 4 or BB28 could pop louder.

Yep, really enjoying this season so far.  Highly recommended, Alan Ritchson has a gravitas that very few actors can bring to the screen.  And the producing, directing, and writing are all working in concert.

Rickson is good, and sure looks the part, all 250 pounds and 6 ft 5.  But I find him a bit "soft" and lacking the intensity that too short Tom Cruise brought to the character.  I think BECAUSE he looks like a giant or a bouncer, like the big boys he takes apart all the time.

  6. I was kinda disappointed with these 3 episodes. Felt a bit blah and formulaic so far.  Also, I read all the books and found Bad Luck and Trouble to be one of the best reads, and also had the most in it for a TV adaptation.  But part of this was its setting in Hollywood CA... not in and around NYC.  It used many iconic LA locations.  I wonder why they switched it...   I enjoyed Season 1 (Killing Floor) more at this point, and even watched it a second time and it held up.  Oh well, lets see how it goes from here on out.

  7. Yeah, but it was shortsighted. Batman was such a big hit that they ended up giving Jack a lot more than if they gave him the 25M that was the current highest pay level.

EDIT.  memory is a beeyatch.  Here’s what his deal was :  6M plus share of profits and merchandizing.  Added up to 50M+ kept him courtside seats for a lifetime.

  8. The market has tended to be cyclical over the decades.  Superheroes blast off then stall.  And in the interim, esoteric genres mainly GA get some long needed love.  Still,  having said that, these GA and Atom books have experienced a huge upswing in values recently, so are at potential risk once superhero keys start heating up.. many of them are at “crazy” prices now too!

  9. he makes many of the same points about the future of comics collecting that we used to do every night here 20 years ago:  current prices are crazy!, kids dont care about "things" like we used to, print is dead/dying, supply is ridiculously huge post "196x" and millions more will come to market of all the keys,   and -- of course -- "the big gains are over from here on out."

IMO only the last one is different from the rest which we have been hearing constantly for decades.  The growth curve of the mega key books reaching up into the multi millions in HG will slow down as an investment % point of view (maybe double, but no more 10x todays levels).   but, lets face it, when the economy comes around, and cash is flowing again, and inflation has raised all prices (maybe except comics), we could get right back on the crazy train to numbers that are unthinkable today.  So its easy to be BOTH pessimistic/realistic, and optimistic at the same time... Just place your bets!

  10. amazing show!  unbelievable animation.. many scenes almost like actual filming.  And the coloring!  Of course as well told a story as it is, it does have many predictable plot twists, which I think has more to do with how we are all so trained to expect twists and are always guessing who will do what, than any lack of imagination.  I watched the first episode last night out of boredom, like why not?  and just finished the finale...

This seems to be an original story, not based on a manga or comic right?
