  1. That's a sweet book! I plan to travel to Montgomery Thursday to buy my first Timely (Cap 66). What kills me is that he has #1, but that one is waaaay out of my league. Hopefully I'll be able to post a pic tomorrow.
  2. Rather small, only 7 long boxes and one mag box. The mag & 2 of the long boxes are first appearances, another two contain my Captain America run.
  3. Yeah, for me it's the frog dumping out the worms!
  4. Been working on my Gold collection, here are some of my favorites.
  5. Just got 52 & 48 at the Atlanta Expo after years of searching.
  6. This includes my favorite Hulk book, #139. I fell in love with book back in the 70's when I got the Treasury Edition. I think it's Trimpe at his best and it has all the cool villians. Had to add TTA to make it halfway legit for the Silver Age section. I love Kirby's work, but what's up with that "Fonzie Hulk"??
  7. Yeah, 31 sure stands out, gotta love that "pop art" thang. Good luck on snagging a copy! BTW, I had heard that ASM 1 was originally AF 16 (actually on the printing press), is there a picture of that cover anywhere?
  8. Wow those are great!!! I'll be reading those two tonight via Masterworks. Congrats.
  9. Glad to have my computer working again, here's my latest Spidey books. If I had to quit collecting today, I'd be a happy guy. I adjusted the darkness and contrast on the pic to cut down on the glare so that "stain" looking thing on the AF is just wierd bag shadow and I'm glad! That looks kinda nasty!
  10. Another beautiful thread! Man I'm soooooo fired up, scored my very first Atlas book 2 hours ago. Now, it may not be the best title or in the best condition, but it's my new favorite. I really dig the "New adventures of the west's greatest gunfighter!", and it being the last issue.
  11. Any Captain America Comics issue Fantastic Four #5 X-Men #4 Tales to Astonish #1 Tales of Suspense #1
  12. OMG!!! These Timely's are killin' me!!! I posted this pic on another thread, so I guess I'll give you guys a laugh or maybe a cry. One day, I hope to own a nice GA Cap, but for now this is the best I could score around here. What's left of Cap #53: Now it's bagged and boarded and hopefully at ease from a hard life.
  13. My favorites: Detective comics & the Art of Jack Kirby Got the Kirby right before he passed.
  14. Man, you guys have some great books. I've always been a Marvel guy until I bought #28 last year and it really got me fired up on DC. What I like best about the book is how it was responsible for the creation of the modern Marvel universe, not too many books can boast that kind of influence. The cool thing about my copy is that I held the same book in my hands back in 1992 and ending up buying from the same guy recently. Never thought I'd own this book, much less the same copy from years back. FF takes a backseat.
  15. Thanks! It's the bag, thank goodness!! The book is in great shape.
  16. Thanks for the warm welcome gang! I really love looking at all these great books. I bought More Fun 35 from a good friend who runs a shop in town. He had the book for years and would bring it to the shop from time to time. I never thought I'd score such an old book and the best part is the early Bob Kane art. (started in issue 31). Pre-Batman Kane is cool with me. I'm really shocked how these books have survived over the decades. Real history and I'm hooked, bad.
  17. I love 10 cent books, great thread.
  18. My only 100 pager. I remember laughing at my dealer buddy for trying to sell me this book. Of course I really didn't understand the history of this issue and it sat unbagged on a filing cabinet for a month. Then, while I was at the shop, this guy came in and freaked out over this book. I then decided to buy the book for $120. About 15 minutes later, that guy walked back in w/ $200 for the book. I really lucked out. It's funny how a book I laughed at is now one of my favorites.
  19. Haven't seen this one yet, my newest addition #37
  20. Hey gang! Just found this forum and just love it. Thought I'd share some of my golds. My first gold, More Fun #35 My 2nd, Captain Marvel Adventures #73. This book made me do a double take, my favorite. My newest, Little Eva 3-d #1, even has the glasses! Hope you enjoy! Jack
