Looks like I might have to send the Hardcase #1 back into CGC....looks like they made a mistake. The CGC label says 9.0 in the left corner but in the middle says "1st cover 8.5, interior cover 9.2". :o

There might be an interior issue (staining?) that keeps the overall grade of the book at 9.0. Call for grader notes to be sure.

    Nice books!

As far as I know, the standing policy at CGC is that the overall grade of a double or triple cover comic is the grade of the interior most cover. Mr. Borock? Care to chime in here?

  2. My 1st submission of double cover issues to CGC just came back today:

This one is also at CGC awaiting grading. Should know the grade on it either tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm hoping for a 9.2 or 9.4. :wishluck:

  3. The latest shipment from CGC should arrive early this afternoon and I'll be starting an all slab sale tonight. These will be mostly X-Men issues between 198 and 251 with some other titles sprinkled in here and there. Almost all of the X-Men issues are 9.6's or 9.8's with just a couple of 9.4's. The 9.8's I will be selling are #198, 201, 213 (3 copies), 221, 222 and 234.

  4. Geesh.....this seems like Christmas WEEK to me.

2 more packages were waiting for me when I got home from work today:

    1) A big box of about 80 Marvel Bronze Age horror comics from Dover

    2) A box of 5 Amazing Spider-Man/Web of Spider-Man slabs from CDaBruce.

Thanks for the great comics AND the great packaging jobs on both boxes. (thumbs u

  6. Damn, that is a nice big box of goodies you got there.

I got the grades over several weeks and CGC was supposed to deliver them to me at WWTx. However, when I got there and asked Paul about them he gave me the deer in the headlights look. I assured him I wasn't kidding so he jumped on the phone and got them shipped out ASAP. It would have been nice to have them to show off at the Forum Dinner but better late than never.

Anyway, I'm saving up for a potential big purchase so most, if not all, of these will be over in the Marketplace soon.

Sweet haul Stronguy! Let me know when you start a sales thread!

  7. Thought I'd start this poll as a BASELINE since the bellcurve on the other collecting polls [GA, SA, BA] seem to indicate that most of the members here are in their mid-thirties. That would of course skew the results of the other polls (i.e. if most of the collectors here are in their mid-thirties then there would be little chance that they wouldn't make up a large percentage of any poll).

Looks like a pretty even distribution curve to me.... hm
