  1. That was a comment that was totally uncalled for. And since you made it, I'll make damned sure I never deal with you again.
  2. As soon as I saw "He used ONE piece of Priority Mail cardboard" I was like "Damn this sounds familiar". Ends up I received a very similar package from the same seller in today's mail. It was a lot of 7 Captain America comics which I also won for 99 cents. The only reason why I bought the lot is because the Cap #371 was the J.C. Penney variant. Apparently, no one else noticed OR they knew the lousy packing methods of this guy and didn't bother to bid. Anyway, I'm going to keep the lot also as that's the 2nd copy of that variant I've picked up. It was pretty beat up (a Good at best) but that was the chance I took on the lot. I agree though that the guy can't package worth krap.
  3. Because we want it to show up on Lyria and catch on like wild fire so we can all dump them on the after market? Actually, I think the original idea was to see if we can convince people a comic is hot by all following it. It was an experiment. Why is is not showing up on Lyria when it has 70+ watchers? Because I'm specifically blocking the eBay category "Modern->Other" from the search results. Usually all sorts of non comic related stuff gets posted in that category so it's just easier to block it. But I've removed the block for your convenience. (thumbs u So it's the second most watched comic, that's nuts: That's because WE'RE all nuts.
  4. Most probably follow GPA and price a book a little higher than the previous sale. If the market shows resistance then they lower the asking price. I'm not sure what drove the $529 asking price. That was a MCS listing that had been there for a while, I believe. MCS pricing is usually out of left field compared to market prices. For example... Yep. Just consider them Mile High South.
  5. Sweet copies! I usually don't see them that nice. (thumbs u
  6. You're referring to Burt Ward....correct? Yeah, you know, Weird Ward Tales! (thumbs u
  7. Received #19 today. Now only need #2,9,11,14 and 17 for the complete slabbed set in 9.2 and higher.
  8. Recent pickup. 1995 Harris Comics Calendar with a Dave Stevens cover: And a nice Dave Stevens centerfold to boot:
  9. Follow through with the purchase. After you receive it claim it wasn't as advertised and return it for a full refund.
  10. I know WHY you're telling him to go ahead and return it, but it's just total bull hockey that someone can return an item just because they found another one for a cheaper price a month later.
  11. yep - I would say it keeps random finds into one area - not a bad thing - otherwise there would be many similar thread variants for books "found in the wild" As the OP of this thread, I've both contributed and also sat back and watched as this thread, amazingly, has grown immensely over the 5+ years it's been on here. As Transplant and other people have noted as of late, this thread's original purpose was to highlight finds at garage sales, flea markets and antique malls...basically, the start from scratch treasure hunt methods. However, in the 1st paragraph of my original post on page 1, I did say "I find comics other ways (eBay, the boards, online auctions, etc.) but my anticipation always seems to be higher with the old manual foot search methods." So I believe that even if it's a craigslist find or digging through dollar boxes at a place like a Vintage Stock, a Hastings store or even your local comic shop, if you think it's noteworthy go ahead and post away. In all of these cases you're still having to go out and perform the manual foot search and you never know what you're going to find. The anticipation is always still there even though it's probably not near as much as a garage sale, flea market or antique mall. We all like to see great comic/comic related buys and a lot of what's posted keeps us intrigued as to what might still be out there. I also think it's best to keep these type finds in one thread. So post away!
  12. Tie-in with new Suicide Squad. First appearance is Legends #3. I imagine it also has to do with the Darkseid appearance.
  13. I suspect this is a NM98 after effect. -slym God, I hope so. I have a bunch of these in high grade.
  14. The most awesome copy in the world, despite the ridiculously bad photography. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=3555&GSub=629 We expect nothing less from a fingh pic Unfortunately, someone defaced the logo entirely . . . With that cover, it's deface the logo or deface da faces.
