  1. No special heat right now. Man Who Laughs has been a $25-$50 book for years now. The time to sell was a few years ago, before the hardcover reprint came out. If you look, the book received one bid. Not exactly "heating" up. So what's your definition of "heating up" in reference to number of bids? Does a particular book have to have at least 10 bids? Isn't the sales price more relative than the number of bids?
  2. They go all the way up to 202 as far as a straight run, I think. I'll go over them more after I sleep. Peace, Chip Damn! You're on a roll lately!
  3. What about the COA from MCS that says there are only 5k copies? http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=1172680&ppid=1122ℑ=676776509&images=676776464,676776509&formats=0,0&format=0 The COI is from Lone Star Comics. Lone Star Comics and mycomicshop are one and the same.
  4. That hasn't been my experience though. Every time I see one in the wild (which is often) it's always the corrected version.
  5. Look at you ... lording about ... posting information relevant to the topic and interests. Do you not know how this thread works? (thumbs u You think this thread is bad. Just go over to the Copper heating up thread.
  6. I normally go to one of our local comic shops (All Star Comics) to buy new comics and dig through their back issue boxes. I usually ignore their dollar boxes but over the weekend I decided to thumb through them and I'm glad I did. In addition to picking up about 20 other nice books (including 2 X-Factor 23s), I found Marvel Tales #76,87,88,90,94,103,108 and 109 all with Mark Jewelers inserts in them. And they were all pretty nice copies too. Tinker Air Force Base is here in Oklahoma City so I'm thinking someone from the base might have sold a small collection to them. Which means I need to go back and dig through their Marvel back issues again looking for more books with Mark Jewelers inserts.
  7. I see Silver Surfer #1, Marvel Spotlight #5, Giant-Size X-Men #1, Green Lantern #1....
  8. Man, the comic gods have been watching over me this week. First, I get the call yesterday about a guy wanting to submit books from a nice Golden Age collection to CGC. That's on hold for now. I also make it a habit to check the local Craigslist ads for comics once each night. Monday night I saw an ad that just happened to be posted about 40 minutes before I saw it. Ends up i was the first to contact him. Based solely on the one picture seen below and the accompanying list in the ad, I e-mailed the guy and said I'll take them. We met last night and I just loaded them into my trunk. I didn't look through all the boxes until I got home. The Saga #1 is a first printing. I thought hell, the Saga run alone is worth his asking price for the whole lot. I finished going through and sorting the comics this morning and boy was I pleasantly surprised. Here's a list of just part of what i got: DC New 52 All Star Western 1-10 Batgirl 1-10 Constantine 1 Action Comics 1-9 Animal Man 0, 1-27, Annuals 1,2 Batman 0, 1-26, Annuals 1,2 Batman and Robin 0, 1-23.2, Annual 1 Batman, The Dark Knight 1 Batwoman 1-10 Detective Comics 1-6 Justice League 0, 1-17 Nightwing 0, 1-13 Swamp Thing 0, 1-19, Annual 1 DC Batman and Robin 1-26 Batman - Gates of Gotham 1-5 Batman Incorporated 1-5 Batman, The Dark Knight 1-5 Blackest Night 1-8 Blackest Night - Batman 1-3 Detective Comics 871-881 Legends of the Dark Knight 1-12 Xombi 1-6 DC Vertigo American Vampire 6-34 American Vampire - Lord of Nightmares 1-5 American Vampire - Survival of the Fittest 1-5 Collider/FBP 1-6 Daytripper 1-10 Hunterkind 1 iZombie 1 Joe the Barbarian 1-8 Scalped 35 Spaceman 1-9 Sweet Tooth 1-40 Trilium 16 The Unwritten 6-54 The Wake 1-4 Marvel Invincible Iron Man 1-33,500-527, Annual 1 Wolverine 1-20, 300-304 Independents Star Wars 1-5 (Dark Horse, 2013) Judge Dredd (IDW) Black Science 1 Ghost Variant East of West 1 Ghost Variant, 2-4 Saga 1-6, 7 Ghost Variant, 8-17 (all 1st printings) Satellite Sam 1 Sea Bear & Grizzly Shark 1 Severed 1-7 Walking Dead 50 Stumptown 1-4 (all 1st prints) Total investment? $100.00. I think it's time for a board sale.
  9. Think I gots me a couple-two-three . . . Just love this place. And I just found a nice copy that I had too. The search list keeps getting longer and longer.
  10. Smells like someone bet heavily on Ninjak once upon a time. Wow ! I feel like Ninjak was the first Valiant character to cause the bubble to bust in the 90s. The print run on those books had to be high because there were stacks of them everywhere. I enjoyed the heck out of Valiant books and especially Bloodshot, X-O, and Eternal Warrior. Still, I think Ninjak sealed the deal. Geomancer helped! Haha ! I forgot about him. There were some really great books early and even some of the later stuff was good but there were some absolute duds mixed in. Turok #1 is the one that issued in the end. When I was cleaning out the LCSs of their Valiant backstock (pre-unity, late run and incentives) they all had leftover longboxes of Turok #1, but only half boxes of Ninjak #1 left if that. I think it sold better due to the cover. Entire public housing projects in Cleveland are made out of Turok 1s.
  11. It was recalled because it had an add for a TPB of a Mature Readers Comic in it. The Regular Cover didn't have that add only the Subscription Variant had the Add. The publisher felt that an Add for a Mature Readers Comic didn't belong in a Kids Comic. Plus the Add for the Mature Readers Comic was out of date. The add was for a TPB that came out in 2011. This Variant also has a corrected version of it without the add. If both of your books have the exact same contents inside than you have the corrected Variant not the Recalled Variant. It's something very similar to the Scooby Doo Where are You! #7 Advert Error. well I looked in my copy of the variant and there was nothing that I could see that would merit mature.... I haven't been able to locate the exact difference either. Can somebody take a pic of the internal page in question??
  12. Agreed. I'll do the obligatory 10% off GPA on slabs in here but anybody in here thinks I'm going to knock 20-30% off just because they're a boardie is just plain .
  13. It certainly never hurts to ask. Even if they don't advertise them and don't have any out, I always ask if there any comics or magazines. Sometimes they do.
  14. That was definitely a good deal. Nice pickup. (thumbs u
  15. The lines around the mask that are the cut lines went over the ears, not around them. Really silly and costly reason to recall, IMO. Thanks for the information. Someone had posted a close-up of one side on Facebook but I still couldn't figure out what the screw-up was. It's clear now.
  16. Anybody here know why Valiant recalled the mask variant of Rai #2? A quick internet search doesn't really tell me anything.
