  1. Whoa!!! So nice to see these books. Again these are books that I have rarely seen. I have NEVER seen them in person. they must be incredible to behold. I just love the nice linedrawn style art of Ryan and Biro as well as Schwab. It just looks so vintage. Thanks a million for posting, and I also really enjoyed that Star Ranger original art. It's amazing that it has survived all these years!!!! That can be attributed to all the great collector's who without these items would have been lost forever!!!!! God bless each and every one!!!!
  2. That's an incredible story. Beautiful book too: That cover really shines. Thanks for sharing that with us!!!
  3. Centaurman that is one beautiful comic. I think you should get together with Jon Berk,SACentaur & Tec27 and put out a guide book to Centaur comics. It doesn't have to be one of those elaborate type books like Gerber or the new Ritter pedigree book, but just a small reference guide for the Centaur collector. Info about artists, writers, scarcity index, and more. I'm trying to something similar for my own personal use just so I can have info on hand when I want to look something up. But you guys are the real experts here and it could be a handy item to have for more novice collectors. I mean it's only about 265 or so issues to reference. Just a thought.
  4. I think I'm going to need to drink some Cocomalt!!!!!
  5. That back cover looks incredibly white!!! It's amazing!!!!
  6. Fantastic books!!! Never seen that Coco-Malt before, didn't even know it existed. That's got to be a one-of-a-kind book. OK maybe two of a kind book (gerber 9 or 10?). Star comics #11 is amazing too. Never saw that cover before in all it's glory. All I can say is WOW!!!!!! I hate to ask but I am really loving these Star Comics scans, The fact is I could be in seventh heaven looking at every single one of them. But I don't want to be greedy as regards to this thread. But I would like a see a few more if it wouldn't be too much trouble. One in particular is Star Comics #2. Not an easy book, I think I've only seen it once online and don't even remember where, but I'd love to see that one.
  7. Nice copies!!!! I need Star Ranger #1 also, but I seem to find it more available than #6 for some reason. With those two issues I'll have all the Jumbo sized Star Ranger books!!! Hey Bang-Zoom; Is there anything you don't have? I mean do you have a want list? Just wondering!!!
  8. Also on the Star & Star Rangers, do we know how many Church copies were found of these issues (especially the large size). That Star comic is simply the most beautiful copy of Star comics I've ever seen!!!
  9. Those books are absolutely STUNNING!!!!!! I can't imagine there being any copies out there as nice as these two. How many issues of the Jumbo's were large sized?
  10. Jon, I wouldn't mind seeing a few issues of Star Comics as well as I find these very difficult to locate in any kind of grade. Thanks!!!
  11. Wow!!!! Thanks Jon. Your Star Ranger #2 is easily the best copy I've seen yet!!!! I've seen about 7 or 8 copies of this book and with the exception of the Lost Valley copy which I own, they are all around FR/GD or at best GD/VG (2.5). It's really great to see your copy, it's a fantastic book. IAs for issue #6 I've been looking for a long time now and your copy is the first I've seen outside of Gerber's Guide book. Really nice and really tough book to locate (for me anyway). I think maybe a lot of collector's are put off by the 1st six issues of Star Ranger & Star Comics because these books are large sized approx. 8 1/2 x 11 and therefore seem mis-matched with the other comics they might collect. But I really like some of the stories and art in these books and the Fred Schwab covers on the Star Rangers. Appreciate you posting these for me..
  12. Very nice!! I know this book is almost impossible to locate. I haven't been seeking out Centaurs as long as most of you on these boards (only about 4 years now) and there seem to be so many that just NEVER come up for sale. This is another one I've never seen up for sale anywhere!!! It's fantastic!!! Jon, I know others here probably don't care for them very much but I have a few of the Star Ranger books (2 thru 5) and I'd like to see a scan of issue #6. Also if it wasn't too much trouble #2 as well just to compare as all the issues I've seen of this (I used to have two copies myself) and have not seen ANY copies above VG/FN 5.0. I've been wondering if any exist above VG.
  13. There's a world of knowledge & wisdom in this forum. I for one LOVE It!!! It's great to hear from collectors who have been around the block a few times and learn something new. Thanks to all!!!, So what did ever happen to some of the original art concerning Centaurs? In the collecting community or gone forever?
  14. Have you ever posted a scan of that book. I'd love to see it. Also sounds like you no longer have it. I hope you picked up something INCREDIBLE to take the place of that baby!!!
  15. Hey Ryan, You wouldn't by any chance be holdin' out with an extra copy of AMF V2 N4 would you. I know some of you long time Centaur collector's are holding onto Multiple copies to keep them scarce in the marketplace.
  16. Centaurs are HOT!!! Centaurs are also (in my opinion) way UNDERPRICED in Overstreet!!!! How can he have NM- (9.2) copies of (a book I've been looking for, and on a few of my want lists) Amazing Mystery Funnies V2 N4 for $1100.00. If Overstreet is NOT underpriced why does Metro have a copy of AMF V2 N10 (a book Overstreet lists at the same price $1100.00 NM-) with the Notation, CALL US for a quote. I suppose they want more than $225.00 for their FN- (5.5) copy. Overstreet is WAY off on Centaurs. It's extremely hard to find these books at Overstreet prices (in the grade & price he suggests). I believe it's because that some of these books are so rare and their resale stats in the marketplace don't reflect Current prices as perhaps Timeley's for instance, which are bought & sold piecemill like Old Style Beer at a Cubs game. So the updates on Centaur pricing are way off. However with the Computer age this shouldn't be the case. Maybe he's a little afraid to update Centaurs too much as it makes the Price guide seem inaccurate concerning these books, and also that he'd have to update quite a few more Golden Age as well (some Fox titles for example).
  17. I was watching that AMAN #22 also. I can't believe it went for as much as it did. I was thinking about bidding around $500.00 for it when it was first put up about a week ago, just waiting until the last minute. Man was I wrong on this one!!!! I've bought from this seller before and found him to be very fair on his grading.and he ships items very quickly. Great Seller!!!
