Clean up one by one?  Say if some text came they misspelled in 100 records, you had to edit each separately?

No, what happened was that they imported those that they could transfer where the book name or numbers matched up exactly correct. Those that did not they sent me back in a spreadsheet as not-imported.

CLZ says they will be looking for a new partner, but it will take time.  Considering that the only other software that takes CSV files seems to be ComicBase (and the UI there is hostile to me), I'll stay with CLZ.  GoCollect can go collect someone else's money though.

I use both CLZ and Covrprice. It is a bummer about GoCollect tanking out on CLZ. However, Covrprice will import CSV files because I have done it from CLZ to Covrprice myself. I had to clean up some comics where the terminology differed, but it works.

  3. Hey everybody. First of all I REALLY  appreciate all the interest, effort, experience and data points that you have all brought to my quest for guidance on selling my Hulk 181. I thought I would first clarify that my book is OW/W for the record. I also appreciate EVERYONE'S input and hope that the hot back and forth  simmers down a bit. I may be naive,  but I assume everyone is giving their best opinions for the good of the community and to help someone (like me) out. So plenty of thanks to go around.

Meanwhile, I have come upon a solution about my "sell or not FOMO problem", by agreeing to part with a  2/3 share in the book to a family member who has patience and time to wait for more growth, the MCU, or whatever comes down the road for an agreed upon amount, keeping it in the family, getting some decent cash now, with an upside future for both of us. That seems like a win/win to me.

Again, thanks for the ongoing education!

you missed the peak. just hold your 181 for awhile. this book will go up once again. it is as sure a bet as any book, its just a matter of when. also keep in mind that white page copies sell for more than other page quality copies of the same grade. so two different results on gpa or comiclink may be due to the difference between a white page copy and a cream to off white copy.

Mine is off white to white pages.

I am not being a smart @ss but did you think 181 or any Bronze age was indefinitely going to just keep trending up? You have been on the boards since 2013 so I assume you know how this works and without looking I would guarantee your 5.0 is worth more then it was pre "INSANE" spike. If you were just in it for making the most money imho the book was at a high mark a few months ago, Economic trends are point to a more traditional growth rate for this hobby and most other collectables ( imho the exception maybe being graded video games which  are just coming into there own as buyers realize how rare some games are sealed and in high grade ).  As to 181, GSXM, ASM 300 etc. we seem to returning to a more stable ( supply/demand) market, that being said I just sold a THOR 245 vf for $100 bucks and that was a good deal for the buyer so the MCU what hot and not THIS WEEK trend seems to be where all the action is these days.

I'm sure you're not being a smart @ss, but you are certainly wrong about me. I only joined CGC in May of this year after and I have been trying to keep abreast of as many developments, opinions, and trends as I can. It's not easy filtering out all of the competing voices that tell you to sell or hold, etc. My goal IS to sell it. It's a question of when.

  6. What's going on with Hulk 181? According to GoCollect the whole book is trending down. I'm afraid I missed the highwater mark on my cgc 5.0 and am seeing big pullback in sale prices. I hate to sell anything on the down side, but if its going to take years for MCU news to turn the tide, and I don't have that big a time window to wait, should I just cut bait?

You know it's likely because there hasn't been a solid looking 9.8 auction in one of the big auction houses since early March. Yeah 3.5 months is not a long time but needless to say, the activity since then has been frenetic! I don't think it's a stretch to assume it tracks GSXM 9.8 and look where that's gone since March 4th. There has to be a 9.8 consigned on HA or one of the others sometime soon to set a real marker. At such point 9.6 9.4 will follow. In the meantime, nows a good time to strike a 9.6 if the means are there....or forever hold your piece 2c

You would have to have amazing faith in this book to shell out that kind of money for the hope of continued growth like we have seen lately. According to CovrPrice a 9.6 sold for $35k in May but then $23k in June. While a 9.4 sold for $21k in May. How do you count on stability or risk management with that kind of volatility? I'm just trying to figure out how my 5.0 will go and I have no investment capital at risk!

    Define "Fun". :whatev:

There's a magnificent Rain Storm 12 string acoustic electric vintage carbon fiber/spruce construction guitar that sounds like an orchestra all by itself, with my name just waiting to go on it. Obviously depending on a sale price, it will depend on how much is left that I can use on my wife's milestone birthday. That's 2 fun things off the top of my head :)

There is going to be a Marvel Universe Movie with an all out battle between Wolverine and the Hulk. It's just a matter of time....and it's gonna' be big. That would be a good time to sell. As for, I'll still hang onto the copy I have. I learned a long time ago the best time to sell, is when you need the money and I've always suffered seller's remorse whenever I sold any part of my collection so I stopped selling about 20 years ago.

Thanks. Ah, seller's remorse. Fear of that could certainly become an obstacle at any point to benefitting from the increased value of the book. But you can make that case on any item of value that you get at a low cost and has now appreciated exponentially.

If you want to sell it at some point, I'd recommend holding until the inevitable movie and/or casting announcement, then sell.

Thanks. So it's safe to believe that a new origin movie won't movie won't diminish the original book, much as the multiple Spider-Man movie versions haven't cut into the value of ASM key books?

    Seems logical :wishluck:

  11. I have owned this book since 1974. Just got it pressed & graded from CGC (was waiting to get my book back before I posted the grade back on Buddy Can You Spare A Grade but for anyone who might have been still honing their grading skills) *Spoilers Alert:

it got a 5.0, which I am ecstatic about as it is a well read comic..

Anyway, my quandary now is to hold or sell. I don't NEED the money, but I am now retired and would have no trouble spending it on something fun. On the other hand, FOMO has me worrying more about selling too early and missing even more fasy growth if the movie will be a plus, more than a price collapse concern.

Just curious on what you guys might do in my shoes?

    I'm with the majority - 4.5.

Thanks for the last chance and for posting.

My pleasure. Unfortunately I have been waiting a week already for my book to get here, and have learned that not only is registered mail extremely slow, but I am unable to get any estimated delivery time online or from USPS customer service. I don't know what type of delivery time is typical but I am frustrated, also because they are also late in sending me images I paid for too.

  13. I got the grade back from this Hulk 181.  The slab is in transit, and I'm still waiting for final images, (both taking what seems like forever), but I liked a suggestion by. @AnhDepTraiif anyone wants a shot at seeing how accurate they can be.  I'll post the result as soon as I have it in my hands.

FYI, I used the Spot on Grading app to help me estimate my grade and it was only .5 off.

I thought ASM 258 was the first Venom - the symbiote detaches from Peter and comes to life in the Fantastic Four's lab... :baiting:

I agree with Jesse-Lee. If ASM 258 is the first time Peter realizes his costume is alive after going through all that testing with Reed Richards and the FF, and Reed is separates and captures the symbiote, why isn't this the first "official" appearance of Venom, regardless of Eddie Brock? The cover art just backs it up so well too.

Kiss that chip goodbye until the new CGC trainees settle in and QC improves...judging from the stuff I'm getting back, I'm pretty sure they're all wearing either oven mitts or boxing gloves while handling comics!

Lovely. Well all I can do is hope right now and remember ultimately that I paid 25 cents for it in 1974 and it has been well read over the years.
