    So was everything I said.

I should have added that the seller said it was the new buyer (I assume meaning you!) That was complaining via PM that I put the I’ll take it in the PM and not the post.

A similar thing happened to me.

I put the :takeit: in a PM and it was accepted.

The next day the seller PM’ed me and gave some flimsy reason for reneging on the deal (that I didn’t put the :takeit: in the thread).

The truth was (confirmed by the seller via PM) another boardie offered more for the book and snaked the deal (theshadowknows)

I was PO’ed as much as CC is now but in the end the aggravation wasn’t worth it. You’ll never get an answer that satisfies you, there is no resolution other then the seller honouring the sale and that doesn’t look like it’s likely to happen.

My advice is move on and never deal with the seller again, you’ve done your do diligence and warned your fellow community members about the hassles of dealing with someone who is seemingly not above board and as far as I’m concerned as a potential buyer their rep is mud and it’s deal with him at your own risk.

The seller lied.I bought all of his tomahawks he had listed.I actually paid less.It was his choice to sell them all or just sell the book to you.You are the one who didnt post a ill take it in the thread. And what was this 10 years ago?Let it go it was what a 30 dollar book?

  4. Why are they still in business, really? People using them to pass off restored books as unrestored?

After the "love affair" with Ryan Elliott articles with PGX and the stuff we've seen here I'd much rather use my 9.4-9.8 comics for my cat's liter box than to send it to PGX. Not included was a PGX book I cracked and sent in to CGC that came back restored.

    Fixed that for you

  5. I can't sit through 80+ minutes of video. Where does he mention being banned?

Watch from 3:50 to about the 8 minute mark on that 80 minute video. TBH this guys an insufficiently_thoughtful_person and I'd ban him as well.

Would have been nice to have had this in the first post.

iN A REAL WORLD ANSWER"NO i REALLY DONT NOW GO F YOURSELF"

  6. It was early this morning when I heard a thunderous pounding on my door. I rarely get the opportunity to sleep in and was tempted to ignore the knocking, as I wasn't expecting anyone. Jehova's witnesses? Magazine peddlers? Scouts selling cookies? Thin mints were sounding good, but not good enough to get out of bed.

Boom! Boom! No, this was a confident knocking, not that of some schlepper. I knew it wasn't greggy coming to visit, surely he'd have tripped coming up the steps of the porch.

Intrigued, I slipped out of bed and fought off the temptation of returning to my slumber

I opened the door and there he was; Kraven had arrived.

He should have brought some Hef coming that damn early

  7. WIZARD WORLD Scaling Back Conventions After $4.25m Loss In 2015

The comic convention franchise Wizard World is scaling back the number of conventions after filing a $4.25 million loss in 2015, according to ICv2. The company, which takes its name from the defunct magazine Wizard, held 25 events in 2015 for a combined revenue of $22.9m, which was less than 2014's convention revenue of $23.1m despite only hosting 17 shows that year. Looking closer, Wizard World's 2015 conventions earned on average $916,000 per show, as opposed to $1.36m in the year prior.

Additionally, Wizard World has sold all but 10% ownership of the fledging ConTV to Cinedigm. That venture was a $1.3m loss for WizardWorld in 2015.

WizardWorld has 19 conventions planned in 2016, with one being the new 'con cruise' venture.

They clearly bit off more that they should have in 2015, and their shows all suffered. I don't think anyone else looked at Des Moines or Madison and thought that those markets were ripe for giant comic shows. Not to mention able to justify $1,100 booths for a three day show. As already mentioned, their efforts to muscle into Indy and Orlando were also really stupid wastes of big money.

    Arent those boardie owned shows?

  8. We have a thread for recent purchases, but how about those dusty horror tomes in everyone's vaults that have been there for awhile? confused-smiley-013.gif

Let's make this the place to post ALL of our favorite pre-code horror books, and talk about everything pre-code horror related in general.

    While we're at it...

Holy !Logged in to check out the PCh and I find it is Keiths bd.HBD Dude!

  9. The CoC 19 is one that I just don't get. Is the demand driven by Misfits fans? Not to denigrate the cover, but it wouldn't even be on a list of my top 50 favorite PCH covers. There are still a LOT of overlooked covers that don't have nearly the demand. Add to that the fact that they are incredibly hard to find in grade. Some that are hard to find at all.

I honestly don't think it has much at all to do with the misfits, its just a great cover that clearly stands out in that run and again there is a herd mentality to grab the classics before getting priced out, without enough to go around, prices will continue to climb unless people wake up one day and decide the cover is overrated and overprices and decide all at once to dump them on the market en masse....I wouldn't hold my breath.

What is the connection to the Misfits?

Those two guys are too pretty and WAYYYYYY to small.

A young Michael Clarke Duncan would have been perfect for the role

I miss him.He always made me smile no matter what the role.

  11. Alibaba is the world's biggest IPO, and looks like it will open around $90/share.

As an investment, would you rather have 100 shares of Alibaba or,say, a lower grade Amazing Fantasy 15?

Alibaba if you got it at 68.Dump it and buy your AF 15.

  12. Hulk 1s were white hot at the show.

I sold a 5.0, there were also sales of a 6.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 -- dealers bought all of these and were paying aggressive numbers. Nobody consulted GPA when negotiating price.

Most dealers don't need to consult GPA, they know the market.

It's better that way. When people cite GPA there's always a temptation to slant the stats when they have skin in the game.

especially for major keys, most dealers know how much they're willing to buy and sell for going into a show.

No doubt. For main keys dealers don't even think to look at overstreet or gpa.
