  1. Rick was somehow conveniently away at that time
  2. That’s great! My son is 11 and was all-in on Spidey so I took him by @G.A.tor‘s booth and was like, “Look, this guy has like 100 AF 15s!” My son was stunned!
  3. Sadly no “new” pick-ups for me BUT I did take advantage of the on-site grading and for the most part, it went off without a hitch. I only wished turnaround, and communication, was a tad better. On the other hand, the encapsulated books look beautiful! No newton rings, great centering, etc. They really look outstanding in-hand! More importantly, this Con, thanks to Marvel films and the Sony Spidey game, was the first one where my son was on the hunt for certain books. It was awesome trying to locate a few key issues with him. He learned a lot in the process from finding a good deal, to working with a budget and of course, as did I, about the current market. Who the hell is Silk and Miles Morales I kept asking him? Regardless, we had an great time together! Here are his pickups along with my fresh slabs.
  4. Looks like CGC is grading on-site books right now as my status just updated Do they just run an all-nighter?
  5. Fam and I arrived earlier this evening! The rain and traffic between DC and B’more was the usual chaos. Regardless, looking forward to 3-days of comics and fun!
  6. Found a set of all six annuals for sale https://bit.ly/2NWPojr (AbeBooks)
  7. Fascinating thread! My wife is a major Felix fanatic but had no idea of the history of the character. Here’s a portion of the comic-related items she owns.
  8. Great pick-up on the United And I agree, not only solid GGA but it’s also home to the 1st and 2nd app., of the Peanuts
  9. It’s on-site for Baltimore so the latter and 25 is more than enough...I’m looking at having eight or so graded while there. And yes, I’m set to be there early, on day 1. Any idea on price per book or is still based on the tiers and “approximate” value?
  10. This the best comic story I’ve read in years! Can’t wait to see the epic conclusion!
  11. Also wondering..is there a limit on the # of books, per customer, that can be submitted?
  12. Richmond Comix (Midlo) is my local go to. I’ve been fairly impressed with their ability to have key back issues. A little overpriced, but what retailer isn’t? I haven’t tried to negotiate so no idea on flex. On the other hand, the gamers and their tables drive me, and my kids, nuts! They take up like 65% of the floor space on the weekends http://richmondcomix.com/ Beyond that, all my other pickups have been via cons/online/private sellers/antique stores/etc. I’ve had a great run the last few months just staying focused on those areas. Honestly, I need to check out some of the other stores. Any favs for you?
  13. Looks like a solid setup by All American! Speaking of Cons... For those nearby, or willing to make the drive, the annual (Richmond) VA Comic Con is coming up as well (Oct. 27-28) at the Old Dominion Building / Richmond Raceway. http://vacomicon.com/
  14. Online listing last night produced the following small batch of books this AM just down the road from me. He mentioned having a ton more, so hopefully, this latest lead pans out further ...and let’s just say I was really happy when I got home and checked out the Tomb of Dracula #10 in more detail
  15. Any keys from that recent collection pick-up appearing here?
  16. Interesting story behind the following pick-up. A few days back I stumbled across a cryptic Craigslist ad that had one photo, a location, zero contact information and a 4-digit code. For a GGA guy like myself, the pic alone was drool worthy! I was determined to find the owner - but how? After some sleuthing, I identified the location was centered around an antique store I frequent...but what about the 4-digit code? It took me a few seconds to connect the dots but I quickly realized the code was likely associated to a dealer at the antique store. After a quick call to the store to confirm my suspicion, I bolted out the door hoping I hadn’t missed out as four days had already passed since the ad was posted. Luckily, I hadn’t (some beat but all complete). Enjoy...
  17. What’s w/ all the raffle nonsense? Used to see that on FB. Seems like a total scam.
  18. This. I agree they always come through...but they are really missing out on some modern payment efficiencies and customer service in the accounts payable space especially with the volume and amounts they are processing.
  19. Ship it w/ email and then wait...and wait some more. Eventually a check will mysteriously appear in your mailbox months later.
